Free Your Mind   On the chilled, progressive and tech side of Deep House. I suggest grabbing a book or setting yourself on a task and let the music take you through its ebbs and flows. “Free Your Mind” is a nice chilled cerebral journey with a thinly disguised oniric dimension.   The best I can describe it is: “ this is a nice little tight package”. It took a while to get the level of consistency I felt it deserved but I finally achieved telling the musical story I wanted to share. It may not be perfect but from my point of view, it has a lot of internal logic. There are many original tunes in the set, which like the “I Wish You Were Here” previous mix are from producers and artists I did not know before. I entice you to grab a decent pair of headphones or listen on a good Hi-FI system. The production, mastering and layering of all those tracks is simply superb. I will be following them from now on. “Bakerboy” from Gunjah great chilled deep track with an amazing production, inspired pads and begging for a mash-up with Buena Vista Park.. Please someone out there with talent pick it up and do it! “I Want It” a cookie french little number which reminds me of a nursery rhyme fititng snuggly in the oniric dimension of the set. Listen to the driving bassline and the superb production. "Out of Reach" Jody Wisternoff feat. Jonathan Mendelsohn. I have sat on this track for almost a year. I think the main reason for the delay was the fact that I knew Mendelsohn from "King of My Castle" fame and expected another anthem  track.. But the atmosphere of the track, the clinical beats, the ever present synth pads and the overlayed melodies should have made me realize this track is well worth a listen by a wider audience.. "Fading Nights" Parra for Cuva feat Anna Naklab ..Whoah.. distorted bassline, clever beats, multi-layered production. Not sure if I know if this is house, indie even maybe trance. But I know you needs immense talent to produce such a complex track with no real melody and pass my melodic centric internal test.. "Micro Man" from Jelly for The Babies.. Instrumental deep and progressive gem, which may not have needed the Xtian vocal edit.. but you have to admit it was begging.. "I Wish You Were H(continued)

The Pirate Set is a yearly fixture of this podcast.   Live from the Pirate Bar in Hydra (Greece), courtesy of Wendy, Takis, Zeus and Zara Bouchlas.. Undoubtedly the best and most friendly bar in Greece.   Old classics from 2009/2010 with new soulful tracks.   The set was running along nicely until I drop Sergio Flores’ “ Hold On”, then pure magic.. Punters looking up and giving me the thumb up, massive smile on their faces, hands up in the air, even some conspicuous sparkle in the eyes of the hotties for the old grey-haired fat guy on the decks!!!!!   There is no better high for a DJ than getting THAT FEEDBACK!! By the time” It’s Yours” dropped I knew I “had” them, the rest was just bonus to bring them down..   Looking down at the playlist, I realized I played a track twice (whoops) but also that the extended family is there: Sahne D, Marc Evans, Scott Wozniak, Rob Hayes, Sean McCabe, U-Ness and Soulheat,, Dave Mayer, Frankie Knuckles, Matt Early.. The Sun Set   As played on the 5th of July at the Sunset Bar Hydra..   Soulful and hopefully smooth chilled grooves most of them release in June 2013. The whole idea was to create the appropriate soundscape to accompany the sunset, which picture up above can even pretend to depict the true glory and purity of what we were seeing.. I had thought for months how and when to use the French accapella, finally I got the opportunity to use it to death! The sun sat at 1 hour 4 minutes at which time I dropped the sample (yet again) to Sean McCabe’s jam “Move”.. The Sun Set   As played on the 5th of July at the Sunset Bar Hydra..   Soulful and hopefully smooth chilled grooves most of them release in June 2013. The whole idea was to create the appropriate soundscape to accompany the sunset, which picture up above can even pretend to depict the true glory and purity of what we were seeing.. I had thought for months how and when to use the French accapella, finally I got the opportunity to use it to death! The sun sat at 1 hour 4 minutes at which time I dropped the sample (yet again) to Sean McCabe’s jam “Move”.. Nocturnes 3.0   Third and most probably last instalment of the Nocturnes series. Keeping up with the nightly vibe with some cheeky edits and my first original mash-up with “It’s You I Touch”. If you feel like having a laugh scroll to 58:46.. The added sample is priceless.. Best way I can describe the final set is as an attempt to blend Deep with Progressive house with a NYC undercurrent vibe. HVOB   Highlights Bar “Cooler Couleur », which is the only weak track and here because of the french accent sample, all tracks in the playlist are worth running to Beatport and Traxsource and paying for the original versions. “It’s You I Touch” is my first real attempt at a mash-up. "Touch" by Buraq & Patrick Podage vs. "It’s You" by FCL. I hope someone with real talent will pick up what is a good idea and make it great… Because those 2 tracks are begging for it. ”Leaves Falling” progressive trancy track with a Balearic tinge. It reminds me of early Chicane and Café del mar. “Sky in Your Eyes” you will recognize the main pads line and it will take you back! “Going Crazy” and “Start Again”, two solid tunes, with great male vocals and perfection of a bass line.. “No Eyes” from Claptone, with “Follow The Step”, the real gem of the set. I love the bass line, the production is beyond reproach, deep, sexy, progressive… Into “Follow The Step”, which was the discovery of the Miami Winter Music Conference (WMC), I am not sure I am giving the tune the credit it deserves and I will came back to it further down the road. Fairly satisfied with my 2 edits of “Black Room Boy” and “Let’s Play” giving them the NYC remix treatment with a Kev Cruz sample I hope put to good use. “All Cats Are Grey”, if you are an adult check the tune (starting at 58:46) you will have a laugh.. I stumbled on the Ed Weather sample a few months ago.. Priceless.. Finishing with "Spectra" and "Moon", 2 fantastic progressive gems... I may start the following progressive mix with "Spectra" to give the tune a bit more exposure. Not quite sure where I will go next, most probably soulful or if I have the time I will prepare an edit set for some freinds of mine dropping in over the weekend.. We shall see. In the meantime..
