Sarah, this one is for you! Safe travel. We shall miss Bear and are expecting to be kept informed of its future Catalonian adventures.. Incidently we will miss you as well.. For the Barcelona bound Sarah & Bear: a vocal, beachy, breeezy, groovy and sometimes deep set. Beffiting the occasion of your going away.. with schadenfreunde, lots of sugar but also a dollop of spices and a dash of tears. Fantastic track and Sandy Rivera is now back in full force. The classic Frankie Knuckles/J. Principle "I'll take you there" was in my bag for a while but I was waiting for the right remix to include it ( Frankie Knuckles...another one having a good year). "The Cure & The Cause" included because it is one of my favourtie tracks for the past 5 years and I was listening to a fab set from C&M whilst travelling and thought it was high time to revisit the DJ Meme remix. More current "In It Together" from Human life, the club hit of the 2011 summer, Knuckles' remix, what more can be said.. And "Take Me Back" Sandy Rivera feat. April to bring the set to a close in a nice loop with the intro tune. Enjoy, might be too vocal, too commercial, too beach for some House afficionados but perfectly filtting for Sarah's going away and was what came out of the bag in the second week of my Russian trip..

BUT I grew up with the original tracks and this was an "emotional" trip down memory lane (you know before mobiles..). "Ella Elle l'a" is a good tune (France Gall's original). The Deadmau5 remix of "Happiness" makes the tune bearable and it is nice to see a vocal trance classic like Fragma's "Everytime You Need Me" getting the remix treatment. And I do like my stripped version of "Take Over Control" (without the electro bit). Not really a must download unless you are a (tragic) die-hard fun OR if you want to have some french dance/trance on your hard drive. But a happy, up Up UP mix..

Current House/Trouse with a couple of oldies. A Xtian original with the "Yak Yaak Boom" edit of King of My Castle (my first GarageBand venture so be kind..). A set mainly for the younger generation but who knows... Mixed without proper gear , still I dare you not to have your feet urging for a dance once you get 30 mins in this probably Cheesy but effective set. Somehow I fitted in Lady Gaga ( I did Rihanna in the Pt.1) and the Dave Aude remix is actually surprisingly good. "Fantasy" is there because for once I found a way to mix in a 135 bpm track and the Tritonal Remix is a smasher. I will return to Traktor next mix. Finally back to a decent set-up! My foray in funky House/Trouse is over for now... Back to Deep & Soulful.. Music my old bones can actually relate to. And no more titillating covers for a while.. Promise!

Hello and Happy New Year since this is the first instalment in 2011. "Spring came early on Tahrir Square" To make clear this is NOT a political statement as such and I will moderate (delete ;=) any political rant if I were to get any. Furthermore, let me say that for Europeans I would be labelled as a rabid ultra-liberal neo-con and in the States as a pinky liberal socialist softy.. Funny how the word "liberal" takes opposite meanings accross the Atlantic divide. Anyhow, the mix came about when I heard the spontaneous song being broken into on Tahrir Square. It reminded me of what happened in Berlin 20 years ago ( I spent that New Year's in Germany), how hopeful people were and how elated I was to see the change happening in front of me. It turned out to be a change for good, I sincerely hope it will be the same for all the democratic movements in the Middle-East. A technical point, as I have no access to my music library (migrating platform) and no access to my gear, hence my absence since December, this mix was done on a notebook, with ipod headphones, a very limited choice of tools and tracks.. Rough & Raw... But I had to mark the occasion... Deep and a bit dark with a bit of sugar at the end...
