For Viv, the kids and myself to sing-a-long in the car during the Summer.. I hope they will like it! Simple, fun and happy set..  It's Disco, It's Eighties, It's Up and it's Summer. Granted it is a bit handbag but I fully assume it and since I am not over the crap I heard when I went out a month ago, it is my way to say that I do not hate commercial house (on the contrary!) but I really despise a professional not making the effort to find something original.. This being said there is a lot of talent in this playlist if you take a second and scan through.. Tocadisco, DJ Meme and Frankie Knuckles, Shane D (rare producer/remixer/dj talent from Durban South Africa) and Scott Diaz.. If you are ready to sing and dance.. try it!    What Happened to that Sound? Indeed... whatever happened to that Sound? I was out recently and suffered through 3 hours of intense crap. Not crap because " it's not my kind of groove" but for it was low quality, repetitive pop music remixed using stems and patches we have heard millions of times. The pinacle was an elektro remix of ... Cindy Lauper's "Girls want to have fun".. All of the above prompted me to drop a simple, little set, which, if it were to be heard in a club, would be an intro set.. Before the main crowd piles in, before the first DJ "has to" get people moving.. An 11pm to 12pm set, at the time when balances are set, the acoustics of the room are tested, when the DJ hopefully listens to the crispness of his trebbles, makes sure the bass does not resonate etc.. Also the time for him to go on a little me-me-me and listen to tunes that may not have a sure main room immediate appeal but which potential needs to be assessed through the output of a good sound system. Sexy, soulful, sometimes Deep and with a bit of funk to start the night.. Robby, Denise, i was thinking of you two whilst doing this one... We would get it! Transitions 3.0 (For My Brother without whom none of this would have come about)   When did you last listen to Pink Floyd?... Well here is your chance..   (Denis va directement a 31:45 jusqu'à 59:30 c’est pour toi!)   Continuing my experimental sets with a foray into Progressive House, Progressive Rock and Trance. This is a nocturnal vibe set, therefore grab a book or set yourself some time aside to meditate or ... who knows? prepare yourselves to do the deed... This is a set for the mind and the soul..   One hundred years ago, my big. Big brother forced unto me HIS Long Plays … For those children of the digital age, who do not know what a LP is, well, it was made out of wax, it was circular and it was analog.. It had a beautiful cover, it was tactile and it could not be ripped nor copied.. and as far as my brother was concern his LP's were out of bounds for his little brother.. From the tail end of the Beatles to Pink Floyd, The Who ( their Rock Opera period), Genesis, Emerson Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, Robert Fripp, Procol Harum, Jeff Beck, Traffic, Bowie, Eno, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, Peter Gabriel, Supertramp, the Cure and up to New Order, my BIG brother made me listen to his records.. I really had no choice .. It was his music or else… What I now fully realize is how much my musical space is partly grounded in his foundations.. And by all means... they weren’t bad ones.. I added Classical and Choir Music and ON MY OWN ;) … discovered Funk and Soul… But my love for Trance, Tech and Progressive House has undoubtedly its roots in my brother’s record collection.. Bless him and this one is for him. In "Transitions 3.0" expect instrumental well built tunes with chords progressions, minor keys, synth pads, guitar solos and tubular bells. Also expect songs with a message, syncopated beats and all throughout pulsating basslines.. Basslines not just here to give the punter a sense of the beat to folllow, but basslines that either support and enhance the tune or bring a whole new melodic dimension. A far from faultless set but I have collected for you some truly epic tunes and hey… when was the last time you listen to Pink Floyd? "Make it Happen" a techie number with a bassline to die for and very rolling synth pads.  “How Never” ( check out the Zoo Brazil remix on Beatport) anothe techie number with amazing percussions and tight beats all supported by a massive bass and turned etheral by an amazing vocalist whose anme I could not find anywhere.. “Before I Lose Control” from Betoko, HUGE downtempo track yet driving little hell.. Listen to the bass, it is a masterpiece of subtlety, a bass used like a violin to uncover another melodic line... This begs for a more aggresive remix...  "Moonlight" LOVE THIS.(continued)

"Make it Happen" a techie number with a bassline to die for and very rolling synth pads.  “How Never” ( check out the Zoo Brazil remix on Beatport) anothe techie number with amazing percussions and tight beats all supported by a massive bass and turned etheral by an amazing vocalist whose anme I could not find anywhere.. “Before I Lose Control” from Betoko, HUGE downtempo track yet driving little hell.. Listen to the bass, it is a masterpiece of subtlety, a bass used like a violin to uncover another melodic line... This begs for a more aggresive remix...  "Moonlight" LOVE THIS.(continued)

Transitions 1.0 Something different! With an overall darker mood yet on chilled side. At the congruence and confines of Deep & Progressive House, with some Tech & World Indie tunes I have gleamed and a very small dash of soft Trance.. After last summer, I was literally housed-out. Particularly, I felt I had done the “best” I could do with soulful house tunes and needed a break from it. The 20 minutes build-up with the stems of an old favourite of mine, Kylie's "Breathe" from the techie "Let it Go" to Nalin's remix of "Breathe" is the stand-out here. Greek Sessions: The Sounds of Σπέτσαι (Happy Birthday Vivienne!)   Viv’s birthday set, which means that my only objective was to mix tunes she would know and /or like "a la premiere ecoute". Pour yourselves a margarita or two, clear up the deck or  living room, for I bet that at some stage within the set you will either sing-along or have a bit of a dance. Happy House: a blend of soulful classics and funky current grooves. Very little if any acappellas as Viv hates them, just pure simple joyful music. A word on the Intro: Spetses, greek island in the Aegean sea, .where only taxis are allowed and one either walks, cycles or takes a horse carriage ride around the island. It is the family’s favourite place in the world and I first started mixing the Greek Sessions overlooking the sea sipping a frappe at the Spetses Hotel in July. Playlist: Intro Sounds of Spetses. I realized once I had mixed the set that it bears more than a resemblance with one of C&M’s latest… This is pure serendipity! Not that I compare myself with them (we are not operating in the same universe let’s be serious) but I really did not have their set in mind when I started mixing mine. The Greek Sessions: Poolside in Santorini  First of 3 if all goes to plan. Not my most polished upload, it would need another two night sessions of Love and Care but it is not going to happen...I got tired of it by the time the Olympic started and as my close friends would know, I am strenuously competing in the Armchair event..  Pool side mix, going from 120 to 126 bpm, full of goodies, full of edits but sloppy at times. Moderately happy of my edits of "Conch" (top deep house from Spiritchaser) and “Do You Wanna” where I added beats synths and vocals. And From 10 to 14, I got where I wanted.. As to "Call My Name", DJ Meme cannot do anything wrong.. I still remember an event in Melbourne, where he kept us going for 3 hours, as a warmer for Dimitri from Paris, whom (patriotism aside) brought everyone to sleep in 20 minutes flat..
