Malo  and welcome to Episode 90 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this beautiful bright and sunny  Wednesday morning 28 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the  180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Today  we start with the new Marathon world record set by Kenya’s superhuman,  Eliud Kipchoge shattering his own marathon world record on Sunday,  setting a blistering pace along the flat, fast Berlin race on an  overcast day, winning in a time of 2:01.09 to shave half a minute off  his previous world best set in the German capital four years ago. Kipchoge,  who has now won 15 of his 17 career marathons, including two Olympic  gold medal wins and 10 major titles, was in a class of his own, to  cement his status as the greatest ever marathon runner. Now back to the Women’s Rugby World Cup starting in New Zealand on Saturday 08 October. Team  Fijiana’s first Test is against the current best in the world on a win  streak of 29 wins and RWC favourites - England at 4.35pm next Saturday  08 October, then they play South Africa at 5.45pm on the 16th of October  and take on France a week later at 7.15pm in their final pool game. In rugby league – Australian Head Coach, Mal Meninga appears stunned at losing players for the RLWC: “I’m happy for them. If  they decide that they want to play for their ancestral nations, but the  fact is we need to have a look at how we clean up the eligibility  rules,” Meninga told Fox Sports. This  after Samoa Head Coach, Matt Parish named eight NRL Grand Finalists in  his RLWC squad - six players from champions Penrith Panthers plus Junior  Paulo and Oregon Kaufusi from their final opponents Parramatta Eels. And Joseph Sua’ali’i also committed to Samoa for  the Rugby League World Cup. The Sydney Roosters teen star was a strong  candidate to play for Australia after scoring 15 tries in 19 games in  the NRL this season. In boxing – Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren remains locked in talks with Eddie Hearn over potentially the biggest fight in British boxing history versus Anthony Joshua. Hearn said: ‘There were positive calls today between promoters and broadcasters who are all trying to conclude a deal.’ In football – Man City owner City Football Group has made an offer of US$190Million to acquire a 90% stake in Brazilian Serie B soccer Club Esporte before they are promoted. Meanwhile Juventus has reported the largest financial losses in the Italian Serie A League’s history at US$246.1Million for the 2021-22 season. Over the past three years, Juve has lost a total of US$517.5M. And to think they are still playing and buying players? For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo  and welcome to Episode 89 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this beautiful bright and sunny  Tuesday morning 27 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the  180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. All eyes are turning to the Women’s Rugby World Cup starting in New Zealand on Saturday 08 October. Hosted by a Southern Hemisphere nation for the very first time, the  first day of the Women’s Rugby World Cup features three fantastic  clashes which will be highly entertaining for the fans: South Africa v  France, Fiji v England, and New Zealand v Australia. In rugby league – the  NRL expects a 83,000-capacity crowd sell-out at Accor Stadium for their  Grand-final between two western Sydney heartland Clubs – the Parramatta  Eels against the Penrith Panthers. NRL CEO Andrew Abdo confirmed  yesterday that the demand for tickets has been phenomenal. No  one gave the Eels Women a chance but they will join their Men at this  week’s NRL Grand Final, after qualifying for the 2022 NRLW decider vs  the Knights, with a stunning 24-10 Semi Final win over the unbeaten  minor premiers and reigning champions, the Sydney Roosters. In  boxing – Tyson Fury will fight former WBA heavyweight champ Mahmoud  Charr on 03 December in Cardiff since Anthony Joshua failed to sign  their fight contract by the 5am deadline this morning Fiji time for what  would have been the biggest fight in British boxing history. Malo  and welcome to Episode 88 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this brilliantly bright Monday  morning 26 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th  meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. With the Rugby Championship over, all eyes are turning to the Women’s Rugby World Cup starting in New Zealand next week. Third-ranked Canada defeated Fiji 24-7 on Friday in the final test match for both teams ahead of next month’s Women’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Fiji,  ranked 21st in the world, is in Pool C and will play their opening game  against top-ranked England, No. 4 France and No. 11 South Africa. This year, Team Fijiana also lost to No. 13 Japan 28-14 and No. 7 Australia 36-19. Black ferns 7s superstar, Portia  Woodman made a spectacular return to New Zealand's XVs Test team two  weeks ahead of the Women's Rugby World Cup, scoring seven tries in a  virtuoso performance as the Black Ferns thrashed a heavily out-gunned  Japan 95-12 at Eden Park on Saturday. Meanwhile on their way to the Women’s RWC, England  Women, the world’s top-ranked Test XVs team, having won a record 25  straight Tests, have been rudely and disrespectfully squashed into  economy class for their 24 hours flights to New Zealand. In contrast, their male counterparts with Eddie Jones travelled business class to the Rugby World Cup in Japan in 2019 Not a good start for the England girls and guess who they play first – Fiji. Go Fijiana Go! In rugby league – just two teams left standing – Penrith Panthers and the Parramatta Eels  will battle it out for the NRL Telstra Premiership 2022 title this  weekend after stamping out the Cowboys and South Sydney in their  respective semis last weekend. Who do you tip? In  boxing – unbeaten Joe Joyce was just too big and strong for Joseph  Parker in Manchester, England yesterday, cracking a wicked left hook  which sent the Kiwi-Samoan warrior crashing to the canvas ending their  fight in Round 11 and probably ending Parker’s career in the top flight. Malo  and welcome to Episode 87 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this brilliantly bright Sunday  morning 25 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th  meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We  start with our one-stop-shop rugby results: Geelong thumped Sydney by  81 points in one of the biggest wins in AFL Grand Final history – more  details later. The All Blacks thumped the Wallabies 14-40 at Eden Park  and the Springboks 38-21 Argentina. In the NRL, the Panthers thumped  Souths 12-32 and so face the Eels in the grand-final. The  Wallabies poor discipline cost them 16 penalties, including two yellow  cards, dreadful turnovers - 15 to six and 29 missed tackles meant the  Wallabies stood little chance of ending their 36-year hoodoo at Eden  Park, as the All Blacks scored five tries to win 40-14 last night. Geelong  claimed their 10th AFL flag – the 2022 Grand Final at the MCG  yesterday, thumping the Sydney Swans in one of the biggest wins in Grand  Final history, 20.13.133-8.4.52 Swans. It  was Cats veteran superstar Patrick Dangerfield’s first flag and Joel  Selwood’s fourth. Selwood is the first player to win four flags at  Geelong. In  boxing – Place your bets ladies and gentlemen for Joe Joyce against  Kiwi-Samoan Joseph Parker for today's WBO heavyweight eliminator fight  at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. Go Uso Go. In football – remember the meaningless Nations Cup tournament that no fan understands how it works? Well  England has just been relegated to the B division of it after losing  one nil to Italy in Milan yesterday. Hungary also stunned hosts Germany  in Leipzig by the same score. Malo and welcome to Episode 86 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this cloudy Saturday morning 24 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In boxing – Tough Londoner, Joe Joyce and Kiwi-Samoan warrior, Joseph Parker both tipped the scales at their career heaviest as they weighed in for tonight's WBO heavyweight eliminator fight in Manchester, England. Joyce weighed in at 123Kg, slightly heavier than his last fight, with Parker adding a bit also as he came in at 116Kg. In football – the Nations Cup is on again! It’s that meaningless EURO comp that no fan understands how it works, but hey it’s on TV and it makes money for UEFA so today England play Italy in Milan and Germany host Hungary in Leipzig. And the best news is - the Russians have been kicked out! In rugby union, rugby league and AFL – our one stop shop, one size fits all, combo deal world famous tips for all codes: In the AFL Grand Final today at the MCG, we tip the Sydney Swans to tickle pink the Geelong Cats, the All Blacks to whiz bang the Wallabies at Eden Park, the Springboks to hullabaloo Argentina somewhere in the deepest darkest jungles of Africa. And in the NRL, the Eels already ning-nonged the Cowboys 24-20 in Townsville last night and we tip South Sydney to ying-yang the Panthers in Sydney today. Absolutely brilliant tipping huh na? In rugby – Sam  Whitelock captains a much changed All Black side, with Scott Barrett,  Sam Cane, David Havili and Quinn Tupaea ruled out through injury.  Beauden Barrett starts at Fullback with Ardie Savea back at Number 8,  Dalton Papali’i at 7 and Jordie Barrett starting at 12. Meanwhile, Wallabies  Head Coach, Dave Rennie says the Wallabies will continue to confront  the All Blacks haka. “We think it’s a very respectful way of responding,  and it’s unique to us because of the boomerang shape. We won’t stop  that. They throw down a challenge and we accept it.” In rugby league – Australian  Kangaroos Head Coach, Mal Meninga has drawn a line in the sand and says  any player dithering about their allegiance to the Kangaroos is not  wanted. Big Mal is with the Australian Prime Minister's XIII ahead of  Sunday's clash with the Papua New Guinea Kumuls at Suncorp. Samoa  is going to be tough to beat at the Rugby League World Cup after Sydney  Roosters teen star Joseph Suaali'i pledged his allegiance along with  Maroons Wing, Murray Taulagi joining ORIGIN stars Junior Paulo, Brian To'o, Josh Papali'i and Jarome Luai all playing for Samoa. The club’s net debt also rose to US$580M this year, an increase of more than 22 per cent. Who cares? They’re winning right – winners are grinners? But  get this – despite all the losses and the mountain of debt, Man U  still paid out US$37.9M in dividends to its beloved shareholders –  mainly the Glazier family in the US. And  finally just checking in on the Jamaican netball team again – no one  gave birth since yesterday??? Just kidding – Silver Ferns won the second  test last night 70-35. Should Team Fijiana do the same with some of our 7s stars injected into the Fijiana XVs side for the Women’s Rugby World Cup? Go Fijiana Go! In  boxing – OUCH the CANELO-GGG Super Middleweight trilogy fight only  generated 575,000 Pay-Per-View buys tops @ US$75 for a total  US$43Million, according to boxing insiders - a major loss based on the  exorbitant salaries guaranteed to both combatants – Canelo at US$45M and  GGG US$20M. A makeshift Jamaica netball team lost the first Test of their  series against the Silver Ferns last night 70-45 after scraping their  team together including Head Coach Connie Francis as a player who – get  this gave birth only six weeks ago and is in her 50s. Just  reconfirming that - Francis played in her first World Cup in 1987 so if  she was 20 then she is 55 now, and gave birth six weeks ago WOW! In rugby – prominent  Fijian lawyer and human rights activist, Graham Leung has criticised  the Fijian government for not postponing the RWC7s win celebrations with  a street parade through Suva to the national stadium last Friday  morning, until after the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II, calling it  crass and disrespectful. Former  top Referee, Nigel Owen has tweeted his support for  Monsieur Raynal,  the Referee in the Bledisloe Test in Melbourne last Thursday night:  “Clear communication and warning to the player to get on with it. In Chess – after years of old Russian men dominating world chess, accusations  of cheating, countered by offer to play naked to prove fairness, have  exploded onto the world professional chess scene between Norwegian  superstar World Chess Champion and number one for a decade, Magnus  Carlsen – the Mozart of chess, considered by many as the Greatest Of All  Time and under-20 upstart New Yorker – the incredibly talented,  arrogant and over confident Youtube sensation, Hans Niemann. The  feud started after Magnus withdrew from a round-robin tournament after  losing to the brash American kid and then accused Niemann of cheating. That would be like that awful Aussie Nick Kygrios . . never mind. For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo  and welcome to Episode 79 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this beautiful bright and sunny  Saturday morning 17 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the  180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In rugby – the  government of Fiji awarded all the players and staff of the Men’s 7s  Team F$10,000 each for winning the Rugby World Cup 7s in Cape Town last  week which Ben Gollings described as unreal. The Team Fijiana girls got a frying pan! In  South Africa, Springboks dietician, Zeenat Simjee and married star  flyhalf, Elton Jantjies have both denied a South African newspaper  report that they were involved in an affair prior to the Springboks game  with the All Blacks last month and called for the story to be  retracted. In rugby league – the  Eels absolutely smashed the Raiders 4-40 six tries to one at Allianz  Stadium Sydney last night, with all their big guns firing – no doubt  spurred on by the nepotism claims fired just before the game to unsettle  them; Waqa Blake, Junior Paulo and Mitchell Moses all scored. In  US sports memorabilia – a jersey worn by Michael Jordan in Game 1 of  the 1998 NBA Finals -- part of the hallowed "Last Dance" season for  Jordan that culminated with the Chicago Bulls reigning victorious over  the Utah Jazz -- has sold for US$10.1Million with auction house  Sotheby's. It  is the hghest ever paid for an item of sports memorabilia, surpassing  the US$9.3M paid in May for late soccer legend Diego Maradona's "Hand of  God" jersey from the 1986 World Cup. The  "Last Dance" jersey marked Jordan's sixth and final NBA championship --  and his record sixth NBA Finals MVP award -- before he retired for the  second time. In London – people from all walks of life and from all around the world are paying their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II. David  Beckham joined the monstrous queue at 2am this morning to see the Queen  lying in state, buying doughnuts for everyone around him, all waiting  for over 12 hours to pay their respects. Tyson Fury honoured Queen Elizabeth II by laying flowers outside Buckingham Palace. The card read: "To Our Queen, Great may your bed be in Heaven, Love from Tyson and Paris xx Gypsy King x." He’s the man! For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! In  rugby – Ooh “Dairy Farmer Fozzy” and “No Show Cane” survived – just, to  fight another day thanks to some fancy pancy French champagne  refereeing last night in Melbourne. With  the Wallabies desperately hanging on to a 3 point lead just 5M from  their try line with 90secs left, French ref Mathieu Raynal made an  incredible decision – reversing a free kick because Bernard Foley was  milking the clock taking too long to kick the ball into touch, from  which the All Blacks scored a try after the hooter to win 39-37. In rugby league – Justin  Hodges blasted the Referee’s decision to stop their fight at the Nissan  Arena last night as “bulls***” after Paul Gallen survived a knockdown  and came fighting back against the former Maroons star. Gallen also a  former NRL and State of Origin star verbally agreed to a rematch. In US sports – the NFL once again dominates the ranks of the world’s most valuable sports teams with the Dallas Cowboys No. 1 with a US$8Billion valuation, the New England Patriots are in second spot at US$6.4B and the Los Angeles Rams following at US$6.2B. In tennis – one  of the greatest players to have ever stepped onto a tennis court, Swiss  star Roger Federer has announced his retirement as injuries finally  take their toll. “I  am 41 years old. I have played more than 1500 matches over 24 years.  Tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamt, and  now I must recognise when it is time to end my competitive career.” Smart man. Federer confirmed the Laver Cup next week in London would be his final event on the ATP Tour. In basketball – NBA legend, icon and greatest of all time, Michael Jordan is just about to launch the fifth release of his Cincoro Tequila called Cincoro Gold. Wanna shot? In rugby league – last  week's 18th Man, Michael Chee Kam, comes into the South Sydney side to  take on the Sharks on Saturday night at Allianz Stadium in place of  Thomas Burgess after he received a two-game suspension for his high shot  on James Tedesco. The Rabbitohs are otherwise unchanged. No one touches James Tedesco Thomas – you should know that? With  a round to play in the NRL Women’s regular season, the Roosters, the  Knights and the Dragons are all guaranteed to play past this weekend,  but they could still finish in any order, with the bottom three clubs  all with a mathematical chance of taking the fourth finals playoff  spot. Parramatta  Eels Head Coach, Brad Arthur has named the same 17 that went down to  Penrith to deal to the Raiders on Friday night at CommBank Stadium.
