We didn’t know much about him coming into the game, but we have an NRL star here,” TV commentator Peter Voss gushed about Fiji Bati debutant fullback and Panthers reserve grader Sunia Turuva against the PNG Kumuls. In football - media reports coming out of the US claim Gareth Bale will earn just US$1.5Million dollars in salary from Los Angeles FC, whereas he received US35M dollars a year at Real Madrid. In rugby league - New South Wales women beat Queensland 20-14 in front of a record women's Origin crowd of 11,321 fans in Canberra last night to claim the State of Origin crown for the first time since 2019. Both sides scored three tries each in a great game - the last single-game Origin series for women ever. Next year they move to three games just like the big boys! He said it was a huge honour to represent the Fijian Drua in their first season of Super Rugby and make history with his teammates. In the BIG rugby game yesterday, the Black Ferns racked up a third straight win in the Pacific Four series thrashing the USA Eagles 50-6 in Whangarei yesterday. It was an impressive finish to this World Rugby International Women’s tournament by the Black Ferns, as much for the eight tries in the wet as their tenacious D, missing just seven tackles and, for the second consecutive game, not conceding a try. Leading the charge on attack was irrepressible left wing Ayesha Leti-I’iga, who ran in a dynamic hat-trick. Halfback Arihiana Marino-Tauhinu relished her first Test start and was named Player of the Match for setting up at least two tries and working incisive angles and inside balls for her runners. And the only way to describe the Super Rugby Pacific final - OUCH.  The Crusaders forwards embarrassed the Blues in front of 43,000 fans at their fortress Eden Park last night, hammering them in contact and dismantling the Blues set pieces, especially the lineout, giving Richie Mo’unga a perfect platform to control the game.
