Malo  and welcome to Episode 75 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this cloudy Tuesday morning 13  September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in  the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In rugby – good  to hear the Fiji Rugby Union Chairman and Navy Commander, Humphrey  Tawake will consult all stakeholders on how to celebrate the Fiji Mens  7s team’s Rugby World Cup 7s win in Cape Town yesterday. Real  easy when you think about it - get the government, FRU’s biggest  stakeholder - to ram through another Act of Parliament, under Standing  Order 51, to award each player F$20,000 and the girls F$10,000 each plus  a public holiday- for the fans. In rugby league – Latrell  Mitchell is set to become the highest-paid player in NRL history, with  the Souths star on course to make as much as A$4Million for a three year  deal at the Dolphins, that’s if Wayne Bennett gets his way – and he  usually does. Mitchell is currently on A$850,000-a-year with the Rabbitohs until the end of next season. In  football – when you think about it, Jurgen Klopp’s biggest deal last  off-season was convincing Mohamed Salah not to leave. That was as big as  and important as any done deal this year. Liverpool also reacted quickly to losing Sadio Mane who they could not hang on to, by signing Darwin Nunez. In tennis – congratulations  to US Tennis Open Winner senior Carlos Alcaraz, the youngest men's  player ever at just 19 and also the new World Mens Tennis Numero Uno. His road to the final and the title was tough – his marathon quarterfinal finished at 3am. Then the Spanish gringo survived  another five-setter against 24-year-old American Frances Tiafoe, the  first Black American man to make the semis of the US Open since Arthur  Ashe in 1972. On Sunday Alcaraz was at his athletic best to score a 6-4 2-6 7-6 6-3 victory over 23-year-old Norwegian Casper Ruud. In boxing – a boxing rivalry laced with controversy renews next weekend in Las Vegas as bitter rivals, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin fight for Canelo's complete set of Super-Middleweight belts in their trilogy fight. This after Canelo escaped with a split-decision draw in their first fight in 2017, which many  fans and experts believe he lost, and then the Mexican stole a  majority-decision win in their second clash; another result marred in  controversy. The sweaty, slippery Mexican has been dodging GGG ever since for a re-match, only now four years later that GGG is 40 and visibly slower, is Canelo ready to rumble! Malo  and welcome to Episode 74 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this sunny Monday morning 12  September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in  the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In  rugby – Fiji has won the Melrose Cup title for the Rugby World Cup 7s,  beating New Zealand 12-29 in Cape Town, South Africa this morning. They  just got better as the tournament progressed and Coach Ben Gollings  utilized the bench brilliantly to pile the pressure on in the second  half of the second half of games just as starting players were looking  for a break or a miracle. Imagine  being down and out and then seeing Fiji substitutes Mocenacagi and  Vakurinabuli - both at nearly 2M tall and over 100Kg running on with a  big BULA smile especially for you. The  Kiwis were so battered and bruised by the brutal Fijian defence that  Fiji didn’t even bother to take the conversion for their final try to  keep it below 30 points. Australia won the Womens comp 24-22 New Zealand and France 29-7 USA for third. Team Fijiana came 5th beating Canada 53 nil and Ireland 24 nil overnight. In rugby league – NRL  fans were treated to the most enthralling and chaotic clash of finals  football in recent memory after seven players were sent to the sin bin  in the infamous Sydney derby at Allianz Stadium where tensions are  always high between South Sydney 30-14 Sydney Roosters. Alex Johnston became the first player to chalk up back-to-back 30-try seasons with a double yesterday for the Rabbitohs. In  football – Qatar will host The Fans Cup five-a-side tournament for fans  of all 32 competing nations from 29 November to 02 December during this  year’s FIFA World Cup. The tournament will be played in the same format  as the FIFA World Cup, with group matches and knockout rounds until the winner is crowned. In boxing – Nate  Diaz has bowed out of the UFC with a win, submitting Tony Ferguson in  the fourth round of UFC279. Khamzat Chimaev decimated Kevin Holland in  just under two minutes while Li Jingliang could count himself extremely  unlucky in his split decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez. This follows a crazy 48 hours after Khamzat Chimaev weighed in over the Welterweight limit. For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo  and welcome to Episode 73 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this sunny Sunday morning 10  September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in  the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In rugby – what a relief, the stadium at the RWC7s on Day Two in Cape Town was half decent. RWC7s  Championship QFs today: W Australia 35 – 5 England, M New Zealand 12-5  Argentina, W New Zealand 28-0 Ireland, M France 5-14 Australia, W  Fijiana 14-19 France, M Fiji 21-10 Samoa, W USA 10-7 Canada, M South  Africa 14-24 Ireland. Champs SFs at 10.07pm Monday. Fiji  versus Australia and New Zealand against Ireland and in the Womens comp  Australia versus New Zealand and France against USA. In the Bowl QFs Tonga beat the Jamaican reggae band 17-0 but lost their Bowl semifinal against Germany 17-12. In rugby league – the  Canberra Raiders continued their stunning recent run at AAMI Park,  upsetting the Melbourne Storm 20-28 last night to storm into the second  week of the NRL finals. With the win, the Raiders became the first team  to win five straight games against the Storm in Melbourne. Cowboys blockbuster, Jason Taumalolo scored in the 80th minute plus the conversion leveled it at 30-30 Sharks. Neither team scored in extra time so they headed into golden point where a 40-metre field goal from the Ice Man, Valentine Holmes sealed the win for the Cowboys 32-30. In football – the  English Premier League, Championship and Leagues have all been  postponed, as well as the start of the new Women's Super League season,  due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, with the country now in a  state of national mourning. The funeral is on Monday 19 September 2022. In boxing – in  a crazy 48 hours, the original UFC279 main event in Las Vegas was  scrapped after Khamzat Chimaev weighed in over the Welterweight limit  and the new UFC279 main card will see Nate Diaz vs Tony Ferguson,  Khamzat Chimaev vs Kevin Holland, and Li Jingliang vs Daniel Rodriguez. In tennis – US  Open Tennis Mens No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz plays in a one-of-a-kind US  Open final on Sunday against No. 5-seed Casper Ruud from from Norway. This  is the first Grand Slam final between two players eyeing both a first  major championship and the ATP’s No. 1 World Tennis ranking. Malo  and welcome to Episode 72 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this sunny Saturday morning 09  September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in  the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In  rugby – it was great to see another Fijian Coach on the world 7s  circuit – Osea Kolinisau as Head Coach of China who were very impressive  in their style of play and structure. Some  of the other teams like Madagascar and Poland Women had absolutely no  idea, while I am not convinced Jamaican Men are actually a real 7s team –  more like a reggae band on holiday. And it showed in the vast empty stadium, sad really for a Rugby World Cup. Key results for Day One of the RWC7s Men: Samoa  33-7 Uganda, Kenya 19-0 Tonga, Ireland 17-5 England, France 19-12  Canada, Samoa 40-12 USA, New Zealand 43-5 Scotland, Argentina 22-7  Kenya, Australia 35-0 Uruguay, Fiji 29-5 Wales, South Africa 32-5 China  and Fijiana 36-7 Japan. In  the Bowl QFs tonight – Tonga-Jamaica at 7.21pm and then the  Championship QFs tomorrow: starting at 5.05am W Australia-England,  5.35am M New Zealand-Argentina, 6.05am W New Zealand-Ireland, 6.35am M  France-Australia, 7.05am W Fijiana-France, 7.35am M Fiji-Samoa, 8.05am W  USA-Canada, 8.35am M South Africa-Ireland. In rugby league – Superstar  Halfback Nathan Cleary was at his majestic best as the Panthers took a  huge step towards defending their NRL title with a 27-8 win over the  Eels in front of 21,863 fans at BlueBet Stadium last night, earning the  Panthers a spot in the preliminary final and a week off. While  Storm fans may claim home-ground advantage in hosting Saturday's  elimination finals clash against the Raiders in Melbourne; AAMI Park  holds little fear for the Canberra Club, who have beaten the Storm in  each of their last four raids of the venue. In football – apparently the Glazer family, who purchased Man U for US$955Million in 2005, are reportedly looking for around US$4.3 billion to sell the team, according to The Daily Mail. Man U was valued at US$4.6B by Forbes in May. The family also own the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So just maybe Elon Musk can rescue Man U. In  boxing – UFC279 in Las Vegas tonight is in jeopardy after one of the  fighters contracted for the main event weighed in nearly 4Kg over! Still  on boxing - Anthony Joshua is a turkey! While he accepted Tyson Fury’s  offer of 40% purse split to fight, he has rejected Wembley Stadium on 26  November or at the Principality Stadium in Wales on 03 December,  insisting on a 17 December fight so he can recover from losing to Usyk. Seriously  - earlier so that he can recover from losing to Usyk? AJ is the loser  here and Fury is the champ who wants it earlier so that he can fight  Oleksandr Usyk in either February or March 2023. Nobody  gives a toss about AJ needING more time to recover from a points loss –  he wasn’t knocked out or anything serious AND he needs the fight, PLUS  AJ is going to lose anyway – by knockout! Malo  and welcome to Episode 71 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this overcast Friday morning 08  September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in  the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We only have one very sad note in rugby today, with news of the passing of TV commentator Willie Los’e – both  personally and on behalf of Teivovo Rugby and the Uprising Fiji  International 7s, I send our sincere and heartfelt thoughts and  condolences to the family of Willie Los’e, who sadly passed away in  South Africa on Wednesday, aged 55. A  former Tongan international, playing as a lock, Willie co-captained his  country at Rugby World Cup 1995 after playing provincial rugby in New  Zealand for Auckland and North Harbour in the early 1990s, as well as  time spent at Yamaha in Japan during his playing career. Willie  was a popular and much loved voice of rugby after his playing days and  was preparing to commentate on the Rugby World Cup 7s 2022 in Cape Town,  which begins tonight when he passed away. Whenever  and wherever in the world we met on the World Rugby 7s Series or at XVs  Tests, Willie would always make time to catch up with me in support of  probably the smallest media organization in the global rugby media pack. One  year at the HSBC Wellington 7s he allowed Teivovo Rugby to film him in  action commentating live inside his TV commentary booth. At  short notice, Willie flew up to Lautoka from Auckland to front the  Uprising Fiji International 7s as Tournament Ambassador and local TV  commentator. Willie Los’e was a gentleman of the game, on and off the pitch. He was a proud son of Tonga and a strong supporter of Pasifika rugby who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace and Ofa Atu Bro. For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo  and welcome to Episode 70 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this beautiful bright and sunny  Thursday morning 08 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the  180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In rugby – the RWC7s starts on Friday in Cape Town South Africa at 6:45pm Fiji time in the Mens Comp at 7:29pm Samoa-Uganda, then at 8:23pm Kenya-Tonga with Team Fijiana playing at 11:17pm against Japan Women. The real Men start playing from 1:39am with USA taking on the winner of Samoa vs Uganda, followed at 2:01am New  Zealand versus the winner of Scotland vs Jamaica, 2:23am  Argentina-winner Kenya vs Tonga and at 4:05am for all you early birds  Fiji-winner Wales vs Korea. In  this crazy format, designed to favour the big guns like England etc who  are not as 7s fit as Fiji and New Zealand, lose and you go home! In  rugby league – our line up for the NRL Semi-finals next weekend based  on our world famous tips for who will make it through the first round of  finals this weekend: First Semi Final: The Panthers to host the Storm,  Second Semi Final the Sharks to host the Rabbitohs. Wanna bet? In boxing – Anthony Joshua has accepted Tyson  Fury’s offer of 40% of a multi-million pound purse for a blockbuster  British Heavyweight title fight on 17 December 2022 at the Principality  Stadium in Cardiff Wales. Smart  play by the Gypsy King because he squeezes this sell-out fight out of  AJ in Britain and smashes him to a pulp, before doing the same to the  Ukrainian champ Oleksandr Usyk in 2023 before Fury retires undefeated. In tennis – awful  Aussie Nick Kyrgios has crashed out of the US Tennis Open, eliminated  in the quarter-finals in a thrilling five sets: 5-7, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6  (7/3), 4-6 by Russian star, Karen Khachanov. Remember  Kyrgios had earlier taken out World Number One, Daniil Medvedev and  installed as the tournament favourite, but what can I say – he smashed  two racquets after the game on his way out like a spoilt kid. In  football – English Premier League giants Chelsea has sacked their 49  year old German Manager, Thomas Tuchel, just days after their new US  owners splashed out a record US$311Million on nine new players,  including - Raheem Sterling from Man City @ £47.5Million, Wesley Fofana  from Leicester City @ £75M, Marc Cucurella from Brighton @ £60M and  Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona @ £10.3M. Plus Tuchel got rid of problem child Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan on loan and dud striker Timo Werner to RB Leipzig for £25.3M. And get this – Thomas Tuchel guided the Blues to Champions League glory in 2021, the FA Cup and EFL Cup finals last season. It’s  like buying your child all the Christmas presents they want and then  dropping them off at an orphanage on Boxing Day without the presents! Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com Malo and welcome to Episode 69 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this beautiful bright and sunny Wednesday morning 07 September 2022 - coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In rugby – sad news, crack Fiji-born French Centre, Virimi Vakatawa has had to end his professional rugby career in France due to a serious heart condition. At a media conference on Tuesday, visibly moved, France Coach Fabien Galthié, alongside Racing92 Club President Jacky Lorenzetti, Club Head Coach Laurent Travers and Vakatawa, struggled to hold back the tears as he paid tribute to the 30-year-old Fijian, whom many consider to be one of the best players in the world. "Fate meant that Virimi played his last three matches with the Blues in Japan, he shared with great emotion," Galthié said. "When you play high-level rugby, you know that it's something that can happen. He was a key player in our adventure, in our history, he was great. This example, we must share it with our children and tell them to enjoy each match as if it were the last." In rugby league – our world famous NRL Finals Tips Week 1: The Parramatta Eels to papaya the Panthers this Friday and on Saturday in Melbourne the Storm to Sambuca the Raiders, the Cowboys to Savlon the Sharks in Sydney and on Sunday, the Rabbitohs to Rambo the Roosters at Allianz Stadium. In the AFL – you know that funny game skinny Aussie guys play wearing really tight shorts? Well the AFL has signed the richest TV deal in Australian sports history with the incumbent holders of their broadcasting rights, FOXtel and SEVEN worth A$4.5Billion over seven years from 2025. Apparently NINE offered A$500Million-a-year for the free-to-air rights but missed out. Unfortunately, despite all their riches, the AFL has a serious racism problem. Yesterday the West Coast Eagles issued a statement strongly condemning the latest spineless racial attack on their Fijian superstar Nic Naitanui on social media. The post targeting Nic Naitanui today is appalling, offensive on the highest possible level and once again illustrates how far we have to go in educating society that attacks of this nature are intolerable, the statement said. It continued, the vast majority of Australians understand the hurt and offence that abhorrent posts of this nature cause but unfortunately a small minority persists with these vile social media posts. The statement ends with - we all have a responsibility to call it out and take a zero tolerance position on this issue. In boxing – Tyson Fury has offered Anthony Joshua 40% of a multi-million pound purse if he agrees to a blockbuster British Heavyweight title fight later this year. Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Fury called out AJ on social media on Monday after revealing that he won't wait until 2023 to fight Oleksandr Usyk. Anthony Joshua responded by saying he will be "ready in December," This is the all-British clash that boxing fans have been desperate to see for years BUT bloody AJ kept losing – first to Mexican Michelin Man Andy Ruiz and now to the Ukraine Cossack Warrior Oleksandr Usyk. In tennis – rising US women’s tennis star, Jessica Pegula is through to the US Tennis quarterfinals, but get this - the US$2.5Million prize money pales when compared to her family’s US$6.7Billion net worth, of which she is the heiress. So imagine this – Jessica Pegula and awful Aussie Nick Kyrgios meet in the tunnel at the US Open quarterfinals and fall head over heels in love. Margaret Court marries them – seriously she is a pastor of her fundamentalist Christian church and Serena and Venus Williams are the flower girls! YAY another Hollywood blockbuster! Malo  and welcome to Episode 68 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this beautiful warm and sunny Tuesday  morning 06 September 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in  the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In  rugby – over 24 representatives from Member Unions including Fiji,  Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Nauru, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea  and Kiribati are attending a combined World Rugby and Oceania Rugby  National Development Manager’s meeting in Suva, Fiji this week, the  first time since 2020. I wonder what they’re having for morning tea . . and lunch and the rest? In rugby league – Catching  up with all the scores from Week 3 of the 2022 NRL Telstra Women's  Premiership: The Sydney Roosters smoked the Saint George Dragons 6-34,  the Broncos bronzed the Gold Coast Titans 4-22 and the Knights pipped  the Parramatta Eels 14-18. In  football – “Lets get ready to R U M B L E – the reigning and 14-times  Champions of Europe, Real Madrid have landed in Glasgow to take  on Celtic in a Sylvester Stallone “Rocky”-like fight in their Champions  League game. The last time Celtic played Real Madrid was like over 40  years ago! In the NFL – Television viewership and so TV advertising in NFL games is at an all-time high. Fox is already selling TV Ads for next February’s Super Bowl, quoting US$6Million for a 30-second spot. In boxing – it  was close, but Mexican “Michelin Man” Andy Ruiz beat veteran Cuban  warrior, Luis Ortiz by unanimous points decision at the aptly named  Crypto.con Arena in Los Angeles, to win their WBC heavyweight  elimination bout yesterday. Three knockdowns by Ruiz was the difference. Ortiz is like 50 already isn’t he? Jake Paul is probably lining him up for a fight next year! In  tennis – Awful Aussie Nick Kyrgios beat and has dethroned the World No.  1 ranked tennis player, Daniil Medvedev 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in two hours  and 53 minutes last night, to advance to the US Open Quarterfinals. Meanwhile, 80 year old crack pot Aussie, Margaret Court, winner of 24  Gram Slam singles championships in the amateur era says she admires  Serena Williams for what she has done in tennis. However, Court doesn't  believe Williams feels the same way. “I don't think she has ever admired  me," Court told ESPN. In  fact Court believes she isn't loved in the tennis world because of her  strong Christian beliefs, including opposing same-sex marriage. Okay! Court  went on to say that she had a better record than Williams after both  became mothers in their careers. "I came back after two babies. After  having the first baby, I won three out of the four Slams. Serena hasn't  won a Slam since having a baby." Overall,  Margaret Court won 64 major titles, the most in tennis history.  Williams has won 39 major titles, which include singles, doubles and  mixed doubles. Court finished by saying, the era Williams played in is easier than it was in her day. I am honestly speechless! For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo  and welcome to Episode 67 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this bright, sunny and warm Monday  morning 05 September 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the  middle of the Pacific Ocean. In rugby – plenty  bad blood in the Rugby Championship Tests on Saturday night between Los  Pumas No. 8 and Crusaders flanker, Pablo Matera and All Blacks Hooker  Dane Coles, followed by Springboks flyer Makazole Mapimpi’s cheap shot  on Marika Koroibete unable to defend himself on the ground and finally  the terrifying and seriously scary Boks lock, Eben Etzebeth’s attack on  Wallabies prop Allan Ala’alatoa. In  rugby league – after 25 Rounds in the regular season the NRL Finals are  locked in for Week 1 as follows: In the First Qualifying Final,  the Panthers host the Eels this Friday and on Saturday in the First  Elimination Final, the Storm host the Raiders. In  the 2nd Qualifying Final, the Sharks host the Cowboys at PointsBet  Stadium and the 2nd Elimination Final on Sunday sees the Roosters versus  the Rabbitohs at Allianz Stadium. In  football – thrown straight into the starting line-up, debutant  Brazilian star, Antony from Ajax, sent Man U on their way to a rousing  3-1 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford this morning, ending the Gunners'  unbeaten start to the EPL season. England Striker, Marcus Rashford scored the rest in a great win for their fans. In UFC - French star, Ciryl Gane said post-match after his impressive knockout win over Aussie-Samoan, Tai Tuivasa in their UFC Fight Night 209 headliner on Saturday, that Tuivasa is the hardest puncher he has ever faced. This was the first ever UFC event in France. In  tennis – while we wait for Rafa Nadal and that awful Aussie Nick  Kyrgios to advance at the US Open, spare a thought for poor Boris –  remember him? Former  German tennis Ace, Boris Becker's mum has revealed that he has only  called her once since being sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail in  April this year. Becker,  54 was found guilty on four counts of hiding assets to the value of  £2.5 million after filing for bankruptcy under the Insolvency Act. Becker is probably watching the US Open on TV in his cell in HM Prison Huntercombe, England - a facility used to detain foreign criminals, and he could be deported from Britain as soon as he is set free. So that’s game set and match HM Elizabeth? For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo  and welcome to Episode 66 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this bright, sunny and warm Sunday  morning 04 September 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the  middle of the Pacific Ocean. In tennis – Aussie star Ajla Tomljanovic has defeated Serena Williams 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1 to end the superstar’s dream run at the US Open in the  third round, where she went down fighting, saving a whopping five match  points in an epic final stand, in what could very well be the final  tennis match of her glittering career. But it was not to be as Tomljanovic eventually got the job done. Williams then delivered an emotional post-match interview, with barely a dry eye inside Arthur Ashe Stadium. “It’s been a fun ride,” she said. Go Serena Go! Meanwhile  2012 Mens champ Andy Murray fell by the wayside and so we could see  Spanish Ace, Rafa Nadal against Awful Aussie Nick Kyrgios for the US  Open Mens title. In rugby – the  All Blacks were back to their brilliant best last night and redeemed  themselves with a 53-3 thrashing of Argentina in the rain in Hamilton.  Taukei’aho, Savea and Reiko Ioane were outstanding in a full on team  effort. It was great to see Sam Cane and Ian Foster smiling – they live to fight another Test! Meanwhile,  at the brand spanking new Allianz Stadium in Sydney, the Springboks  smashed the Wallabies in the collision from the outset for a  comprehensive 24-8 win last night, highlighted by a dazzling debut try  for 19-year-old Wing Canan Moodie. The  Boks now head into two-Tests against Los Pumas and the Wallabies take  on the All Blacks for the Bledisloe with all four teams on 2 wins – 2  loss records. In rugby league – the  Broncos dream of a return to the NRL Top 8 and finals footy this season  came screeching to a grinding halt after they crashed out to the Saint  George Dragons 22-12 yesterday, but as Coach Kevin Walters said, “13 wins is certainly a lot more than seven we had last year.” North  Queensland superstar Valentine Holmes scored a hat-trick of tries for  the Cowboys as they warmed up for the NRL finals with an emphatic 38-8  defeat of a brave but outclassed baby Panthers outfit in Townsville last  night. In  boxing – James “Quick” Tillis is the only man who fought both Knockout  Kings Ernie Shavers and Mike Tyson over 10 rounds each – lost but  survived. He  battled Shavers in 1982 and Tyson in 1986 - both world title fights,  and he says there is no comparison who hit harder, none whatsoever! “Shavers  hit so hard he could turn horse piss into gasoline. When he hit me and  knocked me down, I saw pink mice and rats smoking cigarettes. That fight  with Shavers was the toughest 30 minutes of my life. Mike Tyson hit  like a sissy in comparison. He never would give me a rematch.” Spoken like a true warrior – who maybe took one punch too many. For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo  and welcome to Episode 65 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this drizzling and wet Saturday  morning 03 September 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the  middle of the Pacific Ocean. In tennis – Serena  Williams is playing her third-round singles match at the US Open after  the 40 year-old and her sister Venus 42, were defeated in the first  round of the doubles tournament by a couple of Czech chics! Meanwhile  Awful Aussie Nick Kyrgios has been fined US$7,500 for "spitting and  audible obscenities" during his US Open second round match which he won! Go Serena Go! In rugby – enough about “dairy farmer Fuzzy”, the All Blacks and their Captain Sam “no show” Cane already! The  Springboks have rushed in teen X-factor Wing, Canan Moodie on debut  against Marika Koroibete for their Test versus the Wallabies in Sydney  tonight. Former  Boks flyer, Makazole Mapimpi refused to play tonight after he received  the hit of a lifetime from Koroibete last weekend! LOL In rugby league – the  Sydney Roosters secured home ground advantage for next weekend's sudden  death final against South Sydney after beating them 26-16 at the new  Allianz Stadium last night, but at what cost? Joey Manu, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Sam Verrills all failed to finish the game. Two key Games in Round 25 today: Can the Broncos slay the Dragons at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and save their 2022 season? And  in the second game, the Cowboys need to beat the Panthers in Townsville  to claim second spot on the NRL ladder and host a home final in week  one. In football – Deadline  Day is over thank goodness. EPL Clubs splashed out £2.1Billion,  breaking the all-time record spending total for an entire season. Under their new ballsy American owners, Chelsea  was the biggest spenders of this transfer window, stumping up  £278.4Million - the most spent by one Club in a single window ever. Pierre-Emerick  Aubameyang has transferred to Chelsea after just six months at the Nou  Camp where he says the love he felt from Barca fans was 'indescribable'. Liar liar pants on fire – didn’t they just break his jaw? In boxing – one  of the hardest-punching heavyweight boxers of all time, Ernie Shavers,  with a career record of 68 knockouts from just 74 fights has passed  away. After  taking the Greatest Muhammad Ali to 15 rounds in their World  Heavyweight title fight at Madison Square Garden in 1977, Ali said of  hard hitting Ernie Shavers, 'He punched so hard, it shook my kinfolk  back in Africa'. Shavers also fought and knocked down Larry Holmes in the 11th round of their world title fight but lost in 1979. Ernie Shavers died of unknown causes on Thursday aged 78. Rest in Peace brother. Malo  and welcome to Episode 64 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this cloudy Friday morning 02  September 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of  the Pacific Ocean. In tennis – in the US Tennis Open, Serena Williams, in what was meant to be her last game, dispatched the  world’s number 2 ranked Women’s tennis player er whatshername to move  into the third round – amazing. And that awful Aussie Nick Kyrigos was up to his usual rubbish! Go Serena Go! In rugby – under-fire  Head Coach, Ian Foster surprisingly named an unchanged All Blacks  starting XV yesterday, basically saying that he was giving them a chance  to play without fear against Argentina in Hamilton on Saturday, to  avenge their shock 25-18 defeat in Christchurch last weekend. This  is a very smart move by “dairy farmer Fuzzy”, essentially and very  subtly moving the responsibility for the result tomorrow night squarely  onto the shoulder of his good mate and Captain Sam “no show” Cane. So  if the unimaginable happens and the All Blacks lose again or win but  not play well and push comes to shove – Sam Cane will pay the price. In  fact I wouldn’t be surprised if Fuzzy hasn’t told his All Blacks Captain  that already. I’m  christening Sam Cane “no show” because he does not show at all as a  leader when the going gets tough, plus he doesn’t carry at all with any  impact and he is consistently beaten in the contact battle at the  breakdown! I  hate comparing him to the incomparable Richie McCaw, BUT we have to,  only because Sam Cane is the All Blacks Captain and open side flanker. And  I’m christening Ian Foster “dairy farmer Fuzzy” because he comes across  as a typically nice, bit of a know-it-all, cuddly next door neighbor  dairy farmer, who can talk the house down! Boy  can he talk - “dairy farmer Fuzzy” always outwits the piss poor Kiwi  media scrum, ready to ambush him with all their white hot questions, by  talking the house down – that’s exactly “dairy farmer Fuzzy’s” trick, he  takes so bloody long answering the first question and the second that  the journos forget what they were going to ask, or he basically  pre-answers their questions. Meanwhile Los Pumas boso Michael Cheika has made four changes. Just  in case you missed our world famous rugby Tips yesterday, we tip the  All Blacks to smozzle Los Pumas in style and the Wallabies to zingaro  the Springboks. In rugby league – the Parramatta Eels absolutely smashed their way past the Melbourne Storm 14-22 into a Top 4 spot, setting up a week one finals clash against the  Panthers. It's the first time the Storm have missed the top four since  2014 and their sixth loss from seven games against the Eels. And  Mate Ma’a Tonga Head Coach, Kristian Woolf has finally confirmed that  he is moving to new NRL Club the Dolphins, leaving his beloved Saint  Helens in the UK Super League at the end of the season. He will become the assistant to Wayne Bennett. Under  Woolf, the Saints won the last two Super League Grand Finals, the 2021  Challenge Cup Final, and last week claimed the League Leaders Shield. Malo  and welcome to Episode 63 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this clear and bright Thursday  morning 01 September 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the  middle of the Pacific Ocean. In tennis – English  rose Emma Raducanu and Japanese-American cherry blossom Naomi Osaka –  remember them the next gen of women’s tennis – gone, both lost in the  first round of the US Tennis Open. Not sure what’s happened to Serena but Go Serena Go! In  rugby – our world famous rugby Tips for the Rugby Championship Tests  this weekend: Starting in Hamilton, we tip the All Blacks to smozzle Los  Pumas in style and the Wallabies to zingaro the Springboks at Allianz  Stadium in Sydney. Zingaro? Meanwhile,  an unnamed South African rugby player has apologised to the Principal  of a top Sydney boys' high school after being caught urinating on their  school grounds during a Springboks training and PR session there  yesterday. In rugby league – Our  world famous NRL Tips for Round 25: The Eels to slash and mash the  Storm at CommBank Stadium tonight. Manly to chomp the Bulldogs at Accor  Stadium, the Rabbitohs to bonk the Roosters at Allianz Stadium. The NZ  Warriors to toggle the Titans at Mt Smart Stadium, the Dragons to beluga  the Broncos at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and the Cowboys to bar-b-q the  Panthers in Townsville. In football – the  recent Women’s EURO 2022 Championship in England was watched by a  tournament-record total live audience of 365 million broadcast viewers,  which is double the number from EURO 2017, UEFA said yesterday. Stadium  attendances in England also set tournament records with an overall  total of 574,875, at an average of 18,544 per game, and 87,192 at  Wembley Stadium for the final — a record for the final for both Men’s or  Women’s EUROs. In golf – The LIV Golf Series has lured Australian, Cameron Smith, the World Golf Rankings second-ranked golfer, which now gives the Saudi-backed series 26 of the world’s Top 100 golfers. Smith’s deal - reportedly US$100Million. Apparently, Hideki Matsuyama, Japan’s top player and 16th worldwide, turned down between US$300M and US$400M Saudi cash to join the LIV Series. Wonder what my cousin Tony is doing? Finally  - the jury of seven women and four men in the trial of former  Manchester United superstar, Ryan Giggs was discharged after they told  the judge they had been unable to reach verdicts on charges he committed  assault causing actual bodily harm and used controlling behaviour  towards his then girlfriend Kate Greville and her dear sister Emma. The Crown Prosecution now has seven days to decide whether to proceed with a retrial. What’s the bet the two of them got together for a beer in a pub afterwards - the sisters I mean. Malo  and welcome to Episode 62 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this overcast and slightly windy  Wednesday morning 31 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian  in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In tennis – Serena Williams’ sponsors are rolling out the red carpet to commemorate what is likely to be her final US Tennis Open at Forest Hills. Gatorade and Nike each  released signature Ad campaigns honoring the icon. Nike got Beyonce to  voice their Ad and also created a figure skating-inspired dress made of  six layers to honor her six tournament titles. Her Nike tennis sneakers contain a diamond-encrusted Swoosh and solid gold lace deubrés and 400 individual hand-set diamonds. And if all that isn’t enough, Serena Williams graces this month's cover of TIME Magazine. Okay  so the fans are also showing their love, with 71,332 in attendance at  the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center yesterday - the  second-highest attendance in U.S. Open history — and even more  impressive, it was for the first-round and not finals. During the evening match play, 29,402 fans shattered the US Open attendance record to see Williams, and notably, the majority of fans left before or during the following match featuring men’s star Nick Kyrgios. Williams  will play in potentially her final singles match tonight against Anett  Kontaveit — who is currently ranked second in the world. Go Serena Go! In rugby – FINALLY someone has said it! Sir  John Kirwan has called for All Blacks Captain Sam Cane to sit out a  Test (or two) and to be replaced by Blues Captain, Dalton Papali’i who  last featured at blindside and off the bench in the Ireland  series. This is stating the obvious, but no one in the Kiwi media or top rugby circles will say it – Sam Cane is a bit of a dud. If  he is indeed replaced by Papali’i it will cruelly expose Cane for his  lack of impact in ball carries and contesting the breakdown, plus his  poor decision-making and leadership under pressure. Whew glad to get that off my chest. In rugby league – NRL  Games Round 25 Thu Eels v Storm at CommBank Stadium, Fri Bulldogs v Sea  Eagles at Accor Stadium, Roosters v Rabbitohs at Allianz Stadium. On  Sat NZ Warriors v Titans at Mt Smart Stadium, Dragons v Broncos at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and Cowboys v Panthers in Townsville. In football – Man U has signed Brazilian forward Antony after agreeing a transfer fee of £86Million with Ajax for the 22-year-old. Antony  has 31 goals and 27 assists in 134 games for Ajax and Sao Paulo, and  two goals and two assists in nine internationals for Brazil. In  boxing – Youtuber Jake Paul will fight MMA legend Anderson Silva in  October. Silva was the UFC Middleweight Champion from 2006-2012 with 10  title defenses winning 16 fights in a row – a record to this day.  However, Silva is now 47 years old and only won one of his last nine UFC  fights. You  know I once played in the same team as Sir John Kirwin – no not the All  Blacks, OK not exactly the same team, BUT the same grade – Auckland  Club rugby 3rd division for Marist. Malo  and welcome to Episode 61 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this sunny Tuesday morning 29 August  2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the  Pacific Ocean. In  rugby – The All Blacks 7s beat Fiji for the Los Angeles 7s title  yesterday, gifting Australia the World 7s Series title after they beat  Samoa 21-7 for the bronze medal. All  eyes turn to Cape Town, South Africa now for the Rugby World Cup 7s  starting 9th September with huge expectations on Neil Powell and the  Blitzboks. In  rugby league – Panthers CEO Brian Fletcher has slammed the NRL's Grand  Final winners prize money of A$200,000 as 'embarrassing' and said the  figure left a 'poor taste in the mouth'. The sum is approximately half of what the winner received in 2019 and was slashed in 2020 because of COVID19. OK that’s understandable but here’s the kicker - the NRL reported a A$41Million cash surplus last year! In football – Polish strike Ace, Robert Lewandowski is quickly finding his feet in La Liga, scoring his second double in just his second game as Barcelona cruised past Valladolid 4-0. Meanwhile  his fellow Striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the victim of a  violent armed robbery at his home in the early hours of Monday, the  Spanish Club said. At least four men broke into his home near Barcelona through the garden and threatened him and his wife with guns and iron bars. The thieves fled by car after forcing the Gabon international to open a safe and making off with jewels that were inside. “He is ok now, scared but ok,” FC Barcelona confirmed. The incident comes as Aubameyang is linked with a return to Chelsea in the English Premier League. Ummm I guess that’s one way to encourage a player to transfer! In  golf – with everything on the line, Irish golf champion Rory McIlroy  swooped to steal the US$18Million FedEx Cup prize from Scottie Scheffler  who took a six stroke lead into the final round of the Tour  Championship but faltered under pressure and ended up with only US$6,5M  in second place. In the NBA – in LA at least, 24 August is “Mamba Day” in honour of the late Kobe Bryant.  After his tragic death in a helicopter crash with his daughter Gianna,  the Kobe collection of Nike sneakers continues to roll out as  bestsellers today. His legacy lives on. In boxing – you  gotta hand it to the Champ, just days after he beat Anthony Joshua in  Saudi Arabia defending his WBA, WBO and IBF World Heavyweight Boxing  titles, Oleksandr Usyk returned to Ukraine yesterday to re-join his  countrymen in their fight against Russia. What a warrior and a hero. He must have some Samoan blood in him somewhere! For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you!
