Malo  and welcome to Episode 45 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this beautiful bright and sunny  Sunday morning 14 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in  the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We start with rugby – and what did we tip yesterday? Captain Sam  Cane, dynamic Hooker Samisoni Taukei’aho, Centre David Havili and  lock Scott Barrett all scored tries as the All Blacks silenced the  61,519 fans to claim a famous 35-23 win at the Springboks fortress –  Ellis Park, having lost five of their previous six tests. The BIG question is; have the All Blacks saved Coach Ian Fuzzy Foster, or just their Captain Sam Cane? In  the NRL - the Broncos are marching towards their first NRL finals  series in three years after beating the Knights 28-10 at Suncorp last  night. Adam Reynolds stamped his authority on the slippery conditions  orchestrating four of his side’s five tries - including a Selwyn Cobbo  hat-trick. The  Cowboys lost to the Roosters at the SCG last night but no one from  Townsville was really bothered with the result. An emotional Captain,  Jason Taumalolo says it will take some time for the shocked and rattled  Cowboys to get over their premiership-winning Coach Paul Green's  passing. In  boxing - when Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk meet in the ring next  week, there will be another World Heavyweight belt on the line after  Tyson Fury announced his retirement and vacated the Ring Magazine title  which organisers have confirmed is now on the line in Saudi Arabia. In football - Bournemouth managed to contain Norwegian star, Erling Haaland but Man City still thrashed them 4-0 thanks to another  virtuoso display from their superstar midfielder and EURO Player of the  Year nominee, Kevin de Bruyne at the Etihad. Former  Man City Striker, Gabriel Jesus scored a double for Arsenal 4-2  Leicester City and Brentford had put 4 goals past Man U before halftime,  so we don’t want to know the final score! Malo  and welcome to Episode 44 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this cloudy Saturday morning 13  August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the  Pacific Ocean. We  start with rugby – it’s D Day today for All Blacks Head Coach, Ian  Fuzzy Foster at Ellis Park in South Africa when his men run out against  the mighty Springboks in their second Test of The Rugby Championship  2022. So who’s gonna win? Well our world famous rugby tips are the All Blacks by one point and Los Pumas to smash the Wallabies in San Juan, Argentina. "Look  over your shoulders, we're coming,” South Sydney superstar, Latrell  Mitchell fired a clear warning to the rest of the NRL competition after  Souths absolutely smashed Parramatta Eels 26-0 at CommBank Stadium last  night. One more result from the NRL, Melbourne Storm 16-0 Panthers OUCH! Sadly  some media are reporting that former Cowboys Head Coach, Paul Green who  passed away a couple of days ago at only 49 years old, took his own  life. Rest in Peace Greenie. In  football - Real Madrid Skipper Karim Benzema and teammate Thibaut  Courtois, and Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne are the final  three nominees for the 2021-22 UEFA Men's Player of the Year award. The  winner will be named – along with the UEFA Men's Coach of the Year and  Women's Player and Coach of the Year during the UEFA Champions League  group stage draw in Istanbul on Thursday 25 August. And  just in case you blinked and missed it - Tyson Fury has announced his  second retirement from boxing after failing to entice Derek Chisora into  a trilogy fight. Just  a day or so ago, the 34-year-old Gypsy King revealed he would step back  into the ring to fight Chisora, who he has twice beaten before. Fury turned 34 yesterday and the WBC World Heavyweight champion didn’t give a reason for his change of heart. For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo and welcome to Episode 43 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this warm but wet Friday morning 12 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We start with rugby – Ian Foster has made four key changes to the All Blacks against the Springboks this weekend, with starts for Richie Mo’unga at flyhalf, Shannon Frizzel at blindside flanker, Ethan de Groot and Tyrel Lomax propping up front. Beauden Barrett and George Bower are on the bench. The BIG question is - can the ABs save Fozzy? Australian Rugby League boss man, Peter V’landys AM in paying tribute to Paul Green said: “Paul was a brilliant player, and then became a very successful coach, where he led the Cowboys to one of the most famous Grand Final victories of all time – against the Broncos in 2015. As a player, Paul Green played for Cronulla, the Cowboys, Sydney Roosters, the Eels and Brisbane Broncos as a tough, skilful halfback. He represented Queensland and Australia and only last year coached the Maroons in the State of Origin series. Rest in Peace Greenie. Malo and welcome to Episode 42 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this beautiful warm but wet Thursday morning 11 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We start with rugby – when you look back into the history of All Blacks versus Springboks clashes, the Kiwis have the upper hand BIG time with 60 wins against 38 losses and 4 draws. However, when you factor in Ellis Park, it’s a very different picture; while New Zealand won the first ever Test there in July 1928, the Springboks have won nine of the 13 Tests played there since then. So it’s a bit of a Springboks fortress. In rugby league - our world famous Tips for Round 22 of the NRL: Starting tonight we tip the Panthers to pan fry the Storm at BlueBet Stadium, the NZ Warriors to bar-b-q the Bulldogs at Mt Smart, the Eels to stir fry the Rabbitohs at CommBank Stadium and on Saturday at 3pm, the Cowboys to deep fry the Roosters at Sydney Cricket Ground. Chicken and chips anyone? Staying with rugby league - With a week before the NRL Womens comp kicks off, players and coaches have slammed a new NRLW Judiciary Code as sexist because someone in the NRL has lazily cut and paste the NRL Mens code into the NRL Womens code, SO where a two-match ban is 8% of the NRL season for the Men it is 40% of the much shorter NRLW season. And the fines are disproportionately also much higher for the NRLW players because they get paid much much less. In football - FIFA President Gianni Infantino has welcomed the pan-continental Africa Super League which will see 24 Clubs from 16 countries competing in this new pan-African competition EURO-style from August 2023. The competition will offer US$100Million in prize money with US$11.6M for the winner. In boxing – and I quote, "He's a stud," that’s what UFC Prez Dana White said yesterday about Bo Nickal, the three-time NCAA wrestling champ who had another big win in Dana White's Contender Series in Las Vegas over Zachary Borrego in just 62 seconds; his first two pro bouts not even lasting a round. “He’s a stud” – ummmm a bit rich for my liking. Malo and welcome to Episode 41 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this beautiful Wednesday morning 10 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We start with rugby – South Africa Head Coach Jacques Nienaber must be a funny guy! He has brought in the massive Duane Vermeulen at No. 8 for his first test this year and for the second Rugby Championship game against New Zealand at Ellis Park on Saturday. Can you imagine, Vermeulen has been chained and caged in a secret Sprongboks training camp somewhere all this year and now with Ian Fozzy Foster and the All Blacks down and out they unleash the monster Vermeulen on the Kiwis. Forget the four other changes he made. The Boks Coach is resting Monster Number One Malcolm Marx on the bench for the first half so that whoever is left standing among the Kiwis after Vermeulen has smashed them, Marx can come on fresh in the second half to finish them off. You think I’m kidding – just look at the gangstas the Boks have in their front row - just listen to their names – Frans, Bongi and Ox. Like “Hey Frans, Bongi and Ox came looking for you” – geez man I’d run for it, go interstate, fly overseas for a while! I heard Samoa is open! NRL Games Round 22: Tomorrow night the Panthers v Storm at BlueBet Stadium, Friday NZ Warriors v Bulldogs at Mt Smart Stadium followed by the Eels v Rabbitohs at CommBank Stadium. On Saturday 3pm, the Roosters v Cowboys at Sydney Cricket Ground. NRL Games Round 22: Saturday 5.30pm Wests Tigers v Sharks in Tamworth followed by the Broncos v Knights 7.35pm at Suncorp Stadium and on Sunday 2pm Raiders v Dragons at GIO Stadium and Titans v Sea Eagles at 4.05pm at Cbus Super Stadium. Turns out former Manchester United star, Ryan Giggs is a real nutter – his trial in England heard yesterday that the footballer wanted sex “all the time” and cheated on his ex Kate Greville eight times. The 48-year-old former Wales Manager is accused of controlling behaviour towards Ms Greville from 2017 until their split in 2020 and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against her. Has the Gypsy King gone nuts? In a post on social media yesterday, Tyson Fury announced that he is coming out of retirement to fight fellow Englishman Derek Chisora. “I’ve decided to come back to boxing because I can be the first heavyweight world champion in history to have two trilogies, one with Deontay Wilder and one with Derek Chisora,” Fury said in a video posted on Twitter. Fury won both their earlier fights, so who wants to watch him win again? To our Commonwealth Games 2022 Pasifika news – oh it’s over! Anyway another shout out to those two hot Vanuatu chics – Miller Pata and Sherysyn Toko for winning a bronze medal in beach volleyball. Go girls go! Malo and welcome to Episode 40 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this beautiful Tuesday morning 09 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We start with rugby – The All Blacks have dropped to fifth in the World Rugby rankings following their 26-10 defeat to the Springboks in their Rugby Championship opener in Nelspruit on Saturday. New Zealand’s fifth loss in only six Tests drops them below England. In the NRL - Kiwi international forward and Eels star, Isaiah Papali'i delivered another dominant performance, this time against the Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval, to move past Raiders prop Joseph Tapine and reclaim top spot on the VB Hard Earned Index leader board after Round 21. To our Commonwealth Games 2022 Pasifika news – CONGRATULATIONS Samoa finishing 19th in the Commonwealth Games and numero uno from the Pacific with 1 x gold and 4 x silver medals including a new Games record lift of a total 381Kg in the Mens 96Kg weightlifting category for Don Opeloge. Fiji won 2 x silver in rugby 7s and 2 x bronze medals in weightlifting and para-athlete Naibili Vatunisolo in the Women’s discuss. Papua New Guinea, Nuie and Nauru all won one bronze medal each. Finally a special shout out to those two hot Vanuatu chics – Miller Pata and Sherysyn Toko for winning a bronze medal in beach volleyball. Go girls go! Malo and welcome to Episode 39 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this beautiful Monday morning 08 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We start with rugby - Micahel Cheika’s plan for Los Pumas to run Australia into the ground in the sticky humidity of Mendoza on Sunday backfired badly as the Wallabies second half surge produced 31 points to overrun the legless and punchy Argentina 26-42. Can you trust Cheika? Maybe he . . . Meanwhile the under pressure All Blacks must win their next Rugby Championship test in South Africa to prevent the sacking of Head Coach, Ian Foster and probably Captain Sam Cane as well, by New Zealand Rugby. Do you think the boys will do it? In AFL - NINE News is reporting in Australia that AFL superstar, Lance “Buddy” Franklin has informed the Swans that he won’t be playing in Sydney next year. His beautiful wife - whatshername wants to move to Queensland to be closer to family, so Buddy hopes to roar with the Brisbane Lions. In the NRL - The Cowboys continued their stellar season with a hard fought 28-14 win over the gallant Bulldogs in Bundaberg yesterday, with Scott Drinkwater at his attacking best scoring back-to-back tries. To our Commonwealth Games 2022 Pasifika Peoples Wrap – Led by the indomitable Nikhat Zareen winning the 50kg gold medal at the Commonwealth Games overnight, Indian boxers made it three out of three yesterday as young Nitu Ghanghas won the 48kg gold and Amit Panghal the 51kg gold. Overall India won seven boxing medals at Birmingham. And finally in squash – the Australian squash player Donna Lobban who vowed to bring "mental warfare" against her Scottish husband when they faced off in the mixed doubles quarter-final said after she beat him, “We’re not signing divorce papers yet, I think we’re still alright.” For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Mahalo, vina’a and thank you! Malo and welcome to Episode 38 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this brilliant Sunday morning 07 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The Springboks stuck to their unimaginative kick-heavy, forward-dominated game and executed it to perfection to trash the All Blacks 26-10 this morning. All Blacks Head Coach Ian Foster and the All Blacks knew it was coming but had few answers. Foster has one game at Ellis Park next week - to save his job. No word yet on how much Los Pumas have won by. In the NRL - superstar Fullback Latrell Mitchell put on an absolute clinic as the Rabbitohs thrashed the NZ Warriors 10-48 yesterday afternoon. Mitchell scored 24 points including two tries, two assists, two linebreaks, four tackle busts and slotting 8/8 conversions. Simply the best! In football - Liverpool came from behind twice against newly-promoted and very impressive Fulham for a 2-2 draw in a pulsating start to the EPL season overnight. Darwin Nunez came off the bench to make a huge impact on debut, scoring to level at 1-1 and then teed up Mohamed Salah for the equalizer with 10 minutes to go, saving Jurgen’s blushes. In mixed martial arts – Kiwi-Nigerian UFC superstar, Israel Adesanya insists that either him or the Brazilian, Alex Peirera will fall to a knockout at UFC281 in the US. “I’m looking forward to having someone who is going to attack me – who is going to try and finish me,” Adesanya said. “He’s going to get knocked out or I am.” In fact Peirera has beaten Adesanya twice before UFC. In golf - under pressure from the Saudi’s LIV Tour led by Greg Norman, the PGA Tour has announced its full schedule of 47 events for the 2023 season, featuring a record US$428.6Million in prize money plus US$145M in bonuses with the FedEx Cup topping the list with a pot of US$75M. Malo and welcome to Season 2 Episode 37 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this bright and sunny Saturday morning 06 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Blockbusting Parramatta Eels Wing, Maika Sivo scored two tries in the opening eight minutes to stun a sold-out Brookvale Oval last night, then his fellow Fijian Bati, Waqa Blake scored a sensational try of the season contender for the Eels emphatic 36-20 win over Manly. Parramatta now moves above the Brisbane Broncos into fifth on the NRL ladder. Our world famous tips for The Rugby Championship starting tonight in Mendoza, Argentina, Los Pumas to juju the Wallabies and in the deepest darkest jungles of Africa, the Springboks to bubu the All Blacks. Remember to always gamble responsibly; better still don’t gamble at all. To our Commonwealth Games 2022 Pasifika Peoples Wrap - in the light of Eileen Cikamatana’s record breaking gold medal win in weightlifting in Birmingham, more and more facts - and I stress FACTS, about how her Coach, Paul Coffa selfishly engineered her move from Fiji to Australia are emerging. And only because his brother was Head of Weightlifting Australia at the time, and World Weightlifting is currently and has been in a huge mess, mired in corruption for a while now – the issue of how Paul Coffa got her to represent Australia will never be fairly addressed and resolved by the sport. Don’t get me wrong, no one in Fiji holds any grudges against Eileen Cikamatana. On the contrary, they are all very proud of her achievements so far, and more to come on the world stage next year. But like New Zealand and Australia in rugby over many years, taking players from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga to play for them – cunning officials can easily manipulate young sports people from the pacific, especially like once-in-a-lifetime talent, Eileen Cikamatana to change countries. I’ll leave it at that for now. For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Malo, vina’a and thank you! Malo and welcome to Season 2 Episode 36 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this slightly overcast Friday morning 05 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Under pressure All Blacks Head Coach, Ian Foster has to win at least one of two Rugby Championship tests in South Africa to prevent his sacking by NZ Rugby. So Foster has begun his fight for survival by making four changes to his starting XV against the Springboks on Sunday - Scott Barrett starts at lock, Samisoni Taukei’aho at Hooker and Angus Ta'avao comes in at tight head prop with Caleb Clarke on one Wing. In boxing – World Heavyweight WBA, IBF and WBO Champion Oleksandr Usyk is making his rematch with Anthony Joshua on 20 August free to watch for all the people of Ukraine after being gifted TV rights for the fight by its Saudi organisers. In the NRL – the Sydney Roosters boosted their NRL finals hopes with a 34-16 whipping of the Broncos at the SCG last night, putting themselves just two points off the Top 4. To our Commonwealth Games 2022 Pasifika Peoples Wrap - Jamaica caused a major upset in Commonwealth Games netball when they pipped gold medal favourite Australia yesterday. The Sunshine Girls qualified for the medal rounds with their 57-55 triumph over the Australia Diamonds, who are also through. They will play England or defending champion New Zealand in the semi-finals tomorrow. Would you believe that Maximina Uepa's bronze medal in the women's 76kg weightlifting final was Nauru’s 30th Commonwealth Games medal? All in weightlifting. BREAKING NEWS: A Russian court has convicted US WNBA star Brittney Griner of drug possession and sentenced her to nine years in prison plus a one million rubles fine, which is approximately US$16,000. The 31-year-old had pleaded with the Russian judge not to "end her life" with a harsh prison sentence for bringing in vape cartridges containing hashish oil which she said it was an honest mistake. US President Joe Biden denounced the verdict and sentence as unacceptable and called on Russia to release her immediately so she can be with her wife. Malo and welcome to Season 2 Episode 35 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this beautiful Thursday morning 04 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We start with a bit of NFL news – a game in which Pasifika warriors thrive, the Dallas Cowboys is the most valuable sports team franchise in the world at US$7.6Billion placing them ahead of the New York Yankees by approximately US$630Million. In the NFL, the Cowboys are followed by the Rams, the Patriots and the Bengals fourth valued at US$2.8B. In the NRL – former NSW Blues tough guy, Paul Gallen will end his boxing career in style by fighting two Queenslanders in one night in September and deep in Queensland country. The rumour is, one of the fighters is former Queensland NRL and ORIGIN star, Justin Hodges with the other fighter to be confirmed. Meanwhile in South Africa, under-fire All Blacks Captain, Sam Cane says he is all good to go ahead of their first of two Tests against the Springboks who no doubt will target him BIG time. Yay go Ardie go! To our Commonwealth Games 2022 Pasifika Peoples Wrap: Samoa's weightlifters took out two more silver medals overnight at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Jack Opelonge finished second in the men's 109kg class, while Feagaiga Stowers also picked up silver in the women's 87Kg plus category. Opelonge lifted 358kg, was denied gold when his clean and jerk lift of 200kg was overturned after judges found it to be a no-lift. He had to settle for a lift of 194kg instead, and silver. Samoa finish the games with four weightlifting medals - one gold and three silver. Either the Cook Islands or Niue will win a medal in boxing at the Commonwealth Games. Heavyweights Duken Tutakitoa-Williams of Niue and Michael Schuster of the Cook Islands face each other and the winner is guaranteed at least a bronze medal. History also for Eileen Cikamatana of Levuka and now Australia for her Gold medal in a new Commonwealth Games Record in the Womens 87Kg category. What if Samoan men’s superstar weightlifter, Don Opelonge married Fijian-Australian female record-breaking weightlifter, Eileen Cikatamana – can you imagine how strong their children would be? Malo and welcome to Season 2 Episode 32 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this bright and warm humid Tuesday morning 02 August 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We start with our Commonwealth Games 2022 Pasifika Peoples Medals Wrap: Papua New Guinea Weightlifting Mens 61Kg category x Silver for Morea Baru Fiji rugby 7s Silvers x 2 Men and Women New Zealand rugby 7s Bronze medal x 2 Men and Women Samoa Weightlifting Mens 67Kg category x Silver for Vaipava Ioane You have to admire Fijiana 7s Head Coach, Saiyasi Fuli for the fantastic way he has brought Fiji’s national Women’s rugby 7s team up to Commonwealth Games Silver from Tokyo Olympic Bronze without much of the finances and support other national teams have at their disposal. As usual a number of keyboard warriors have been overly critical of our Fiji Mens and Womens 7s teams for losing Gold at the Commonwealth Games rugby 7s competition in Birmingham yesterday. Hello they won the Silver medals - and what exactly have you achieved in sports for Fiji? In football - the England Lionesses will all be up for national honours, and why not after winning the EURO 2022 Women’s title yesterday, dispatching previously invincible Germany 1-2. The office of outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson supports the idea and will set the ball in motion. Staying in England - English rugby league Wing Jack Johnson suffered an exploded testicle in a collision while training for Newcastle Thunder, who play in The Championship, just below the Super League level in England. Apparently Johnson threw up three times in pain on his way to hospital last week Thursday. The young man is licking his wounds at home right now but hopes to try his luck playing in Australia next season. For TeivovoSports.com – I’m Culden Kamea, Malo, vina’a and thank you!
