Key Points: * We talk about the theory behind the Belt and Suspenders theory along with learning things the hard way. * I give some examples of how I have used this theory in gigging and in business to save my tail from failure * I give some tips on easy ways to break into this concept starting with taking notes on both your phone and notebook. In closing: The theory is simple.... Bring a backup plan that covers you in case of failure and make sure you are thinking about the different complexities that come with that so-called failure.  Steve Pruitt: Building a True Legacy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:54:58

What's up Drumtrepreneurs! This week we are chatting with Steve Pruitt! Steve Pruitt is a multi-faceted drummer with experience, efficacy, and industry credit that goes beyond the levels that many drummers will ever be able to fathom... Hailing from Oklahoma City, Steve is a graduate of North Texas University, a student of Ed Soph, former drummer of Snarky Puppy, and a well sought out clinician and studio musician that resides in Seoul, South Korea. Steve has one heck of a mind and his complete obsession with drums and everything about the drums leaks through heavily during this chat as we plunge into the life story of the amazing Steve Pruitt. Steve's Sponsors are: Canopus Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Promark Sticks, Evans Heads, Pure sound snare wires, Tru Tuner, Booty Shakers Key Points from today's episode: * We start the show strong with a detailed look at the life of Steve Pruitt starting at age 8 when his parents purchased drum sets for both his sisters along with a boring guitar for him. After only a few short days Steve figured out a way to bargain a trade with his sisters for one of the drumsets. This is where it all began. * Steve give us the details of his first teacher who was exceptionally loving and caring but equally as strict. He explains how she was sensible enough to keep him on a pad for the first 6-12 months of his lessons before pushing the parents to invest more into the instrument. * Steve breaks down his experience with Snarky Puppy and what led him to moving all the way to North Korea, getting married, changing his entire way of life and still managing to crush it as a drummer on all levels. He even tells us about his recent performances at the 2018 Olympics in Pyong Chang. When Scott set this show up I was not in the know regarding today's guest which made today's one in which we truly let it flow. Steve is a stand-up human being that really begs us to ask ourselves the question "Am I working to my true potential?"  His ability to navigate such a strong and prosperous should serve as a blueprint for many of us and will add to the bank of inspiration I get from the drummers Kevin and I are so honored to interview.  Daily Fill: Developing your Morning Routine | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:31

Welcome to the Now Wednesday edition of the Daily Fill with our Owner and founder Richard Ducat! Every Wednesday Richard gives us a dose of motivation, guidance, life hacks, marketing tips, and more! Today's quote:  “We think, mistakenly, that success is the result of the amount of time we put in at work, instead of the quality of time we put in”. – Arianna Huffington. Today's Sponsor: Predator Percussion Custom Stave Snare Drums - Click here to visit the site WELL HELLO, MY DRUMTREPRENEURS! We are back with a fresh episode of the daily fill weekly podcast and show with your host Richard Ducat (That's ME!). Today, We are digging back into the battle plan and detailing everything regarding our morning routine. Check the steps below for an easy guide that you can copy and paste into your notes! HYDRATE: HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TALKED ABOUT THIS? Drink one bottle of water... Plain and simple. Take perspective: It's important that we see the values in our lives every day and show appreciation for the amazing things we have in our lives Overview the day and write down your goals: It's important to continually keep track of your goals and write them down daily… Follow this with an overview of your day and you will never fall off of track Work out your body and your mind: For me, i use podcasts and the Micro.Fit App I recently created to help me stay on track with daily fitness. It takes me 6 minutes and while im running through this and the rest of my morning routine I am playing educational podcasts or courses each day to ensure im on the cutting edge of my craft and on the pulse of my business. Create and say daily affirmations: This is a big one…. We need to focus on our mindset and that starts with telling yourself the things you need to hear and believe each day. Start with 5 powerful statements such as “ I am becoming a millionaire” “ I am leading my team to success” Create a consistent set of morning chores:  I know this sounds boring and probably the last thing you need to do but Admiral McRaven said that If we start with a simple task like making our bed then we will feel a sense of accomplishment that will inevitably lead us to more accomplishments. This holds true and I believe its essential to put together a list of 5-6 morning chores you do each day to ensure the tidiness of your home, well being of your pets, comfort of your closest family members or children, assurance that your property holds value from consistent upkeep or just cleaning your toilet because ya know…. EAT SOMETHING: I know this whole intermittent fasting keto diet is taking the community by storm but listen… Ive tried it and its not something i would suggest… Not eating causes me physical stomach pain which distracts me from staying on task and limits my ability to accomplish my tasks at a 10X level. Keep it simple… Yogurt, Granola, Smoothies. Reach out to your loved ones: This is my final step for good reason… After youve ripped through your morning and accomplished more then most will in their entire day you should dial it back and reach out to the ones you love. You will be in your most positive form and full of exertable joy that will most certainly bleed onto the receiving end of your conversations. This does two things… IT creates consistency in keeping up with our inner circle AND it promotes the well being of our relationships and their ability to grow and prosper. In closing: This simple 8 step protocol has been the basis for my efforts to creating a successful life and while they are not easy.... they sure are accomplishing. Take these in long strides and remember that it's the little things we do each day that add up to big accomplishments we can make! REMEMBER... You need to take notes, you need to apply these efforts ASAP.

Daily Fill #132 - Drum Lesson: Dazed and Confused. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:18

Hey Everyone! Welcome back to another episode of The Daily Fill! In this week's episode of Drum Lessons with Scott Jackson, Scott begins to defines confusion. Confusion... One of the easiest feelings to understand. "What in the world am I doing?" As musicians, the difficult part is that whenever we learn a new song, fill, chop, concept, beat, rhythm, reading notes... And just about everything else. We always start back at confusion. Now certainly, over time, we will be able to learn certain things faster, but we always will have to "take it slow" at first. This is because for every variation we add our brain has to process new information, even at the slightest degree. Pretty crazy, right? Drummers today, are now being put under immense pressure to perform and know more than just drums. We have to know electronic gear, mics, mixers, video and audio editing, and on top of that all the skills required to be a Great drummer. I will say this... Not all of that is required, but that is for another day. So, it can be overwhelming and confusing, however: just remember this. Take your time, be diligent, research, study, analyze, and GO PRACTICE. No one skill or topic can be mastered with out those things. So if you don't do them, you will forever remained confused... Key Points From Today's Lesson: 1. We have all been there: Whenever you learn a new beat or style of music. Complete Confusion 2. Every thing begins with Confusion: A new fill, style, beat, chop, concept, practice routine... 3. Understanding Fellow Musicians: How comfortable are other musicians? 4. Overcome Confusion: Research, Study, Analyze, and Practice 5. Be Diligent: Never stop studying and learning. Strive for mastery That is it for today's lesson! Enjoy! Go Practice!
