What's up Drumtrepreneurs! This week we are chatting with the amazing and prolific Andy Prado! Andy is the drummer for Sabrina Claudio, Anthony Crawford, NABZ Persian SuperBand, and Coevality. His playing speaks for itself showing a fine appreciation for jazz and latin mixed with a fresh approach to the type of playing only drummers like Matt Garstka are known for doing. I was first introduced to his playing back in 2017 when a few videos of him popped up on Instagram via a mutual and good friend Richy Ramirez's production company. The videos were amazing and showed off mini elements of Andy's crazy abilities to play whatever the hell he wants on a drum kit. I was hooked and knew that I had to bring him on the show because next to his playing I noticed something else very interesting... Most of the industry pro's and influencers we all follow seem to know him and his talents very well. I'm talking Thomas Pridgen, Eric Moore, every instainfluencer I know, and more which made it very clear to me... Andy Prado is a prolific figure, an outlier if you will which is what makes today's show so important as we dig into the mind of a true drumtrepreneur. Key Points from today's episode * Andy breaks down his life story starting with his early obsession with the drumset starting at the mere age of 3 and joining the church band at age 4. * After stumbling upon a drum set at his cousins house he found himself jamming for hours while his Aunt listened in another room awaiting his parents to come home so she could tell them of his talents. I'm going to cover the Pomodoro technique and how I use it in full detail but first I want to start with a story about Baseball and why the theory of single runs vs home runs plays a big part in this breakdown. I will the idea of starting this podcast as an example and representation of each base. Using this theory with my time spent building drummers I like Base 1 - Stopping the bleeding - and Developed a show concept along with some artwork and a show name Base 2 - Adding in some positive momentum  - Booked 2 guests to test out my abilities to actually do it Base 3 - I started to notice a change - I noticed a change in myself when I launched my first show and was already well into booking my 10th RATCHETING - With each Base, I locked myself in and set up a routine to ensure I would be able to stay on task. The Pomodoro technique: So using the past information we have spoken about regarding developing a task list every week the idea here is to set a timer and break your tasks up according to an order of importance. For me, the perfect time spent on a single task without burning myself out or not allowing myself enough time to make progress is 52 minutes.  After this, I take an 8-minute break and afterward I’m ready to jump into my next hour of work. I do this 4 times a day and have managed to do it for the last 16 months of my life seeing the biggest gains in productivity of all time. Using the ideology I have been able to: Scale my business 10X Find more time for my family and myself Focus on bigger picture ideas Get better at my job and more! Look… I'm not going to sugar coat the process for you but if you're already following this show and keeping a day to day list that follows a weekly list then you’re already goal oriented. Simply break this list down into 4-5 hour blocks each day and do what you can to gain momentum each day. You are not going to get it right the first few times… In fact, it took me over a year which is why the small steps really matter the most. Today's big question: How are you going to use these techniques yourself and start applying them today? Have you ever thought about what it would take to make a million dollars? It sounds hard right? What if I told you that using a contrast bias to simplify it could actually get you 50% closer to making a million dollars a year... You’ve got to break it down that's 2739.75k a day. So how can you figure out to make 99.15/hr every hour of the day! So take this same contrast bias and use it for almost everything I want to accomplish. Especially drums. I've taken this concept Marco Cirigliano gave me to speed up my singles and broken it down into the smallest bite-size chunks possible. Every day taking it from 5 BPM to 10 BPM to 15 BPM to 20 BPM for 10 minutes at time. Taking note of what needs work and what doesn’t. After my chat with Juan Carlito last week I am really starting to take the time to appreciate the details. So your challenge of the week: Break a big big big big goal of yours down into small bite size chunks that make sense for your daily regimen. Anything you want.. Just break it down. Another Example is habit-forming… I've used this concept in my morning and nightly routines to slowly make or break habits. I talk about this extensively in previous episodes regarding battle plans and morning routines and trust me… it works! Accomplishing goals can be a lot easier then you think that is why you need to ACT NOW…. There is no greater time to start than now as today is the last chance you have to experience the now. What's up Drumtrepreneurs! This week we are chatting with Juan Carlito Mendoza. This is my absolute dream interview and one I have waited a very long time to do. Juan is an educator and Adjunct professor at the New Jersey City University and the band director at William C. Juan is a pillar of success speaking a level of drumming language that only a few unique people have had the luxury of speaking and a drummer I feel everyone can take a page from. Learning what I have learned today has given me some serious inspiration of my own.
