Kim Garst, Social Media Strategist and Author of “Will the Real You Please Stand Up” on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:35

Listen here now: Kim Garst was online before any of us even knew what e-mail was, and now she’s on Forbes list of the Top Ten Women Social Media Influencers. On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, Kim tells the story of how she started her business from her dining room and became one of the top resources in the world of social marketing. And why she’s decided to show entrepreneurs how to “Show Up, Be Authentic and Prosper in Social Media”. Kim wanted to make a living while being a shome-based mom. The Internet had just been born, and she saw an opportunity in the marketplace for website design, so she turned her dining table into her office and created her first 7-figure business. That website design business soon evolved into a website hosting service. When a client offered Kim $100 an hour to be his marketing consultant, her ‘eyes opened really wide’, and discovered her knowledge was worth even more than her services. By clicking the play button at the top of this page, you can hear how entrepreneurs all over the world are profiting from Kim’s ‘be the real you’ marketing strategy. When Kim was in my private coaching group, I helped her develop and streamline programs for her marketing strategy business. (She shared that during that year her revenues increased by over $270K!) As the CEO of her own marketing and training business, Boom! Social, Kim helps businesses of all sizes accelerate their profits with proven social media and digital marketing strategies. And she’s become a leading expert in her field, appearing regularly in the Huffington Post, Forbes, Fox News and Business Week. Her current bestseller is “Will the Real You Please Stand Up: Show Up, Be Authentic, and Prosper In Social Media”. It guides business owners through one of today’s biggest struggles for success, and shows them how to stay true to their brand in the massive landscape of social media. On this episode of Glambition Radio, Kim and I discuss why entrepreneurs need to embrace the controversy, ignore the numbers, and start a conversation. And you’ll find out why Kim wants me to get on a roller coaster and try snowmobiling!  Nicole Lapin, Author of “Rich Bitch” on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:44

Listen here now: Money matters used to make Nicole Lapin so nervous, the word “budget” made her break out in hives. She overcame her fear in a big way and went on to become a “plain language” finance expert anchoring and reporting on business news for CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Bloomberg Television, and Today. On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, you’ll hear how Nicole became a reporter when she was just 18 years old, what made her take control of her own finances and decide to make money something easy to talk about, and why she proudly calls herself a “Rich Bitch”. Nicole says she’s the least likely person to become a finance expert.  The daughter of immigrants, she grew up in a home where no one talked about money, had investments, or even read the business section of the newspaper. When her first real boyfriend told her he wanted to be a hedge fund manager, she thought he was talking about gardening! She educated herself about money management, and got a job reporting from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade. While other college students were still figuring out what they wanted to do with their lives, Nicole was working her tail off as a reporter and became the youngest anchor ever at CNN, and then claimed the same title at CNBC, where she anchored the only global finance show on the network, “Worldwide Exchange”. By clicking the play button at the top of this page, you can hear how Nicole has made the language of money easy for us all to understand. In the course of her job, Nicole read a lot of books about money, but never read one that seemed relevant to her own life, or the lives of any young women. So she wrote the book she wished her younger self could have read. “Rich Bitch” is a financial jargon-free guide to getting what you want out of life, without depriving yourself of the things that make you happy. The title refers to the tough road Nicole had to take to get everything she ever wanted in life. In the book, she confesses to every mistake she made along the way, and pokes fun at everything she did wrong. Her goal is to take the scare out of finance and make women smile as they learn the language of money. On this episode of Glambition Radio, Nicole and I discuss what a diet and a budget have in common, why time really is money, and the priceless nature of a good cup of coffee. Financial analyst Steph Wagner was devastated by divorce, but was determined not to let it destroy her future. So, she developed a plan to rebuild her self-worth… and her net worth. Steph married her college sweetheart, a man who shared her ambition and drive. They both found success quickly, with Steph becoming a V.P of a private-equity fund by the time she was 25. A few years later, she gave up her career to raise their three boys, confident in her marriage and the life she and her husband were building together. But, when her husband confessed he was having an affair, her world fell apart. Hear how Steph turned the devastation of her divorce into an opportunity for a beautiful future by clicking the play button at the top of this page. Steph was faced with emotional trauma when her life-partner turned into her adversary, along with the financial complexities of divorce. She came to a crossroad. She could succumb to her circumstances or take control of them. Using her experience as a financial analyst and forensic accountant, she dug into their assets, obtained an equitable settlement, and put a plan into action to manage her financial future. In the four short years since her divorce, Steph discovered a passion and true-talent for helping other women survive divorce. And her entrepreneurial spirit led to a full-time career as a Divorce Concierge and Financial Strategist, supporting women in their journey to restore their emotional and financial well-being. On this episode of Glambition Radio, Steph and I discuss the benefits of controlling emotions, thinking beyond the possible, and why she ignores the people who say she can’t change the landscape of divorce.  Jenny Fenig, Author of “Get Gutsy” on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:15

Listen here now: My client Jenny Fenig was living the glitzy and glamorous dream of every young executive, complete with a six-figure income, high-powered job, and fantastic Manhattan apartment. So why did she give it all up? On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, you’ll hear what made Jenny “Get Gutsy” and find her passion, her secret to earning more and working less, and why she’s decided to help women entrepreneurs find the courage they need to break free and find their true calling. Jenny spent a decade climbing the corporate ladder, and it looked like she had it all. She broke the six-figure glass ceiling in her job as a conference producer, and was living with her husband in a luxury apartment overlooking the Hudson River. But, something was missing. She tried to fill the void with Coach bags and Happy Hours, but shopping and alcohol addictions weren’t the answer. And the long hours she put in at the office were suffocating. When a business trip to Las Vegas forced her to celebrate her 30th birthday alone in a hotel room, Jenny’s inner voice told her loud and clear that she wasn’t living the life she was supposed to live. And she vowed to make a career change. Hear how Jenny’s inner voice and journey of self-discovery led to her success on our Glambition Radio interview by clicking the play button at the top of this page. Jenny was terrified when she quit her job with no plan of what to do next. But, when she got away from the noise of the corporate world, she began to listen to her inner voice (and ignore her inner-critic!) She started teaching yoga, and rebuilt her life with a foundation of faith. When she gave herself permission to share her gifts with the rest of the world, she found her true calling. Today Jenny’s an online business owner, coach and author. Her latest book “Get Gutsy” is a fearless guide for women entrepreneurs, full of the steps they need to find the courage to move along their path, find their true calling and live their dreams. (Jenny has been a client of mine since 2009. I knew when I met her that she was going to do some amazing things with her life – and I was right! You’re going to love listening to her story.) On this episode of Glambition Radio, Jenny and I discuss the importance of a good “girl crew”, the need for a sacred space, and why you have to make friends with your fears.  Lori Crete, The Esthetician Mentor, this week on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:11

Listen here now: The tragic events of 9-11 caused former flight attendant Lori Crete to change the direction of her life. She left a steady paycheck to pursue her dream of working for herself in the beauty industry, and now she’s The Esthetician Mentor. On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, you’ll hear how Lori turned tragedy into an opportunity for change, and how her Six-Figure Esthetician System is transforming the lives of thousands of women in the beauty biz.  Growing up, Lori had a fascination with “all things beauty”. When she was a little girl she played with her mom’s eye shadows and lipsticks, and when she was a teenager she took on the role of “official” family hairstylist. Never dreaming she could make a living at what she loved to do, she took a job as a flight attendant and worked for American Airlines for 13 years. But, after losing friends and colleagues on 9-11, Lori decided it was time for a big change in her life.  Hear how Lori recovered from tragedy, changed her life, and found success on our Glambition Radio interview by clicking the play button at the top of this page. While building her client base for her spa, Lori went through a lot of ups and downs. But, it cut deep when her former employees left her and used the tools and marketing secrets she had shared with them to start their own competing businesses. She took the betrayals as a sign that she had a lot to share, and seeing another opportunity for change, Lori became a mentor and coach to women in the beauty industry. (Psst—Lori is also one of my prized private clients and a member of my special high-end group of entrepreneurs. So you’re going to love this episode!) On this week’s Glambition Radio, you’ll find out what really grosses Lori out about the average salary of an esthetician (28K in a 3 trillion-dollar business!), why she got beat up online for telling people they could earn 100k a year, and how my work with Lori has changed the way she does business.  “5 Rules to BREAK in 2015… With Ali Brown on Glambition Radio ” by Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:00

Listen here now: Happy New Year! I hope you had a fantastic holiday season! I took a few weeks off to be with my family here in Scottsdale, Arizona, and while Brett’s mum was visiting us from Australia. The twins are now 19 months old, so it was a really fun Christmas because we could see their excitement when they saw their new toys under the tree. Now, bring on 2015! Wow… 2014 was a wild ride for many of us… a “bridge year” for us to get clear on who and where we want to be, and what we want to create in 2015. (And, even more strongly, what we DON’T want to be or do or have in 2015.) There was a lot of letting go for many of us. Some of these realizations may have been painful, but they pointed us in the right direction. Get ready for a powerful new year, and as my gift to you, I’m going to dive deeply today into something I feel is critical for women as they are stepping into their business growth and the power of becoming a leader… It’s not more rules to follow, but rules you have to BREAK. Yes you… you bad girl, you. You are going to be a RULE BREAKER. So to kick off the New Year, I’m giving you my 5 BEST rules to break in 2015 to fuel yourself and your business—it’s the latest episode of Glambition Radio, and you can listen here right now. You see, many of the rules we learned growing up and in school (and even in corporate) to “be successful” were designed for us to be successful in those worlds. Not the world we create for ourselves as entrepreneurs. Those rules were the exact opposite of what we need to grow our business and with it, our own purpose. And then, once you get into the multiple six figures and higher, there will be more rules to break as you step into your next level of power.  Today’s rules to BREAK will benefit you no matter what level you’re at, but I especially want you to pay attention if you’re already into the multiple six figures and into the seven figures. AND… if you’re at that level, be sure to listen at the end of this show, when I am going to announce for the first time a special, private workshop I’ll be hosting in May just for 40 women entrepreneurs here in Scottsdale, and how you can be on the waiting list. You can listen to this episode of Glambition Radio by clicking the play button below get excited for a powerful 2015!  Geri Stengel, Author of Forget the Glass Ceiling, this week on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:08

Listen here now: When Geri Stengel’s corporate bosses nixed her suggestions, she decided to share her good ideas with small business owners instead, and make a handsome living doing it. And today corporations like CNBC and Dell hire her for her research and expertise as well. On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, Geri tells the story of how she struck out on her own, became an expert in women’s entrepreneurship, and why she never stops reaching for the brass ring.  Geri had it all planned. Her dream while in school was literally to go “work in a large corporation, live in Manhattan, and wear fancy clothes”. She got what she wanted, including a job with Dow Jones, but abandoned it all when she lost her taste for the corporate world’s slow pace and lack of innovation. On the show, she tells the story on how she made the leap and left to become a freelance consultant, helping small businesses write their business plans and develop strategies to raise money. Geri has since become an author, speaker, teacher and advisor, a regular contributor to Forbes, and was named a 2012 and 2013 Small Business Influencer for her expertise on the success factors of women entrepreneurs. Hear how my new friend Geri launched her self-confidence—and her subsequent success—by clicking the play button at the top of this page. Geri is the president of Ventureneer, a digital marketing and market research company, with a focus on thought leadership. Her work with women in all stages of entrepreneurship led to her book, Forget the Glass Ceiling: Build Your Business Without One, where she profiled 10 awe-inspiring women, several of whom have grown their businesses past the $100 million mark. (You’ll recognize a few who have also been guests on our show, such as Kara Goldin from Hint water.) The book provides inspiring stories and practical advice to overcome unique barriers. During our conversation, Geri and I discovered we overcame some of the same personal and professional obstacles (including self-doubt and the search for good female role models), and we bonded in the pride we share for creating our business success without ever having taken a business class.

Angela Jia Kim of Om Aroma & Co. and Savor the Success on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:30

Listen here now: Angela Jia Kim already had a successful career as a concert pianist when her passion for creating organic lotions in her kitchen at home turned into a full-time business. On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, Angela tells the story of how she became an “accidental entrepreneur”, and why today she’s focusing on helping women entrepreneurs “Savor the Success”. Breaking out in a rash changed Angela’s life. One night just before she was about to go on stage, Angela suffered an allergic reaction to a body lotion. After the performance, she discovered the lotion contained over 50 chemicals. Determined to create a chemical and preservative-free skin cream for herself, she experimented with over 1,000 formulas in her kitchen at home before she produced the perfect organic lotion. It was an instant hit with her friends, who encouraged her to start selling the organic cream. A website brought her customers, and soon spas and hotels were buying her products. And an “accidental entrepreneur” was born. Hear how Angela’s passion for lotion turned her into an “accidental entrepreneur” by clicking the play button at the top of this page. Angela credits her career as a classically trained pianist as the ‘perfect playground’ for a future entrepreneur. Performing as a solo artist, facing performance anxiety, the discipline of practicing the piano every day for 8-13 hours, and learning how to set and fail through goals were experiences that mirrored the journey she took from small-business owner to the successful founder and CEO of the award-winning Om Aroma & Co., organic boutique Savor Spa in New York City, and her women’s entrepreneur network, “Savor the Success”. During our conversation, Angela and I bonded over what she calls “the gorgeous chaos” of balancing a busy career and motherhood. We also discussed the importance of “date nights” with our husbands, and why we think enjoying success is just as important as earning it. On this episode of Glambition Radio you’ll find out what made Angela give up a successful career to follow her passion for mixing lotions and potions, how she learned to create what she wanted in life, and why she created an entrepreneurs network to help women celebrate and “Savor the Success”. I know you’ll get a lot out of this episode.  Ingrid Vanderveldt, Empowering a Billion Women by 2020, this week on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 40:45

Listen here now: Ingrid Vanderveldt is offering women around the world a chance to transform themselves, and make an impact on the global economy. Her goal is to change the lives of a billion women by 2020. You don’t want to miss Ingrid’s story, and her inspirational outlook on life in this week’s episode of Glambition Radio. Ingrid has dedicated her life to global empowerment, especially for women. Her new venture is the Empowering a Billion Women by 2020 Initiative, which will change our global economy forever. She was the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence (“EIR”) for Dell Inc. and in just three years there she helped build worldwide initiatives that developed a $250 million-dollar business segment. She’s on the United Nations Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurs Council, was a founding organizer of the GLASS Forum (Global Leadership & Sustainable Success) and is the co-founder of The Billionaire Girls Club. Ingrid has followed her heart and created opportunities for herself, her community and the world. Hear how Ingrid has changed the world by clicking the play button at the top of this page. Ingrid didn’t set out to be an entrepreneur. (As a child in a very religious household, she thought she’d grow up to be a missionary.) But, her love of the arts and interior design led to a master’s degree in architecture. When she represented her fellow students at the Architecture Institute of America, she felt a little intimidated by the business professionals around her. Deciding she should learn more about business, she enrolled in business school where she discovered a passion for entrepreneurship and found a way to grow a business and give back to her community. I first met my new friend Ingrid last summer at the Forbes Women’s Summit in New York. We were instant soul sisters! We share a ‘don’t-take-no-for-an-answer’ attitude and are passionately motivated by the same thing: helping women live their lives to their fullest. On this episode of Glambition Radio you’ll hear Ingrid’s story, why she thinks the key to her success is living a life of service, and how she’s helping women business owners change our global economy.  Linda Rottenberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Endeavor, this week on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:39

Listen here now: Linda Rottenberg—if you don’t know the name, you’re about to meet a woman who has changed the global entrepreneurial mentoring model for serious businesses that are scaling up. And she did this after everyone (of course) told her she was crazy. (Which led to her nickname “la chica loca”.) Time magazine called her one of the 100 Innovators for the 21st Century, US News & World Report named her one of America’s Best Leaders, and her new book Crazy Is a Compliment: The Power of Zigging When Everyone Else Zags is a New York Times bestseller. Based in New York with affiliates throughout the globe, her organization Endeavor sources and mentors the most promising emerging-market entrepreneurs on the planet, transforming economies and generating annual revenues of nearly $4 BILLION. Just amazing. This brilliant woman with the megawatt smile is one interview you won’t want to miss, on this week’s episode of Glambition Radio. I had the pleasure of meeting Linda at this year’s Dell Entrepreneur Women’s Network event in Texas, and I was delighted to see how approachable and friendly she was. We chat a bit about our twins (mine are boy-girl, hers are both girls), and she said YES to being on the show! On this episode of Glambition Radio you’ll hear why she believes everyone needs to get into the mindset of being a change maker, how to live like an entrepreneur with a healthy work/life balance (don’t we all want to know THAT secret), and her personal roadmap to success. I know you’ll love this episode.  Kelsey Ramsden, Top Canadian Entrepreneur, this week on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:19

Listen here now: How did this gal grow a multi-million dollar company in the male-dominated construction industry, and starting at age 28? She did it like a woman! Hear Kelsey Ramsden’s story on this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, and how now she’s helping other entrepreneurs make their own dreams come true. A self-proclaimed mediocre student, Kelsey almost failed high school, but went to the principal’s office and negotiated her way into graduation. She didn’t initially get into college either, but worked her way into being accepted into the undergrad program. (She shares the details of all this on the show.) After earning her MBA, Kelsey went into management consulting, but found herself, “just dreading Mondays”, so she quit. Going with her instincts, she decided she wanted a job where she could build things and “see the dirt move.” While in $112,000 of debt, and with a whole lot of hustle, she started Belvedere Place Construction and built it to the point she was named Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneur for two years in a row. Hear how it all happened, step by step, here on Glambition Radio. A life-threatening health condition she discovered a few years ago made Kelsey re-think her career path. She was proud of what she’d done, but was ready for something else. She turned her focus to leadership and helping other entrepreneurs find their dreams. Kelsey and I found a lot of similarities in our journeys, from switching career goals to coaching and mentoring others, to the challenges of being a mom with a growing business. (Her family is her primary focus, and you’ll hear them make an unscheduled appearance during the interview. ;)) I know you’ll get a lot out of this episode.  Marci Shimoff, Happiness Expert, this week on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:58

Listen here now: What makes people happy? This woman knows, after interviewing hundreds of people about their happiness habits. And you don’t want to miss Marci Shimoff’s advice and story on this week’s episode of Glambition Radio. Marci is an expert on happiness, success and unconditional love, and I bet you have more than one of her books in your personal library. Her international bestsellers include Love for No Reason and Happiness for No Reason, and she’s a featured in the book and film The Secret. Her first big project was being co-author of Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul, in fact, it was Marci’s idea to turn the Chicken Soup phenomenon into a series. Her total book sales are over 15 million and have been translated into 33 languages, making her one of the top non-fiction writers of all time. You are going to love the story of how Marci found her calling and developed these life-changing books. Hear how she came up with the idea and launched it by clicking the play button at the top of the page. Marci is one of those people who always knew what she wanted to do with her life. When she was 13, she attended a seminar taught by the legendary life-coach Zig Ziglar, and as she watched him walk on the stage, she saw a picture of her future as a motivational speaker. Although she knew where she wanted to go, it took Marci a long time to get there. Even after she became a corporate trainer, with clients like AT&T and General Motors, she was plagued by low self-esteem issues that ultimately led her to a journey of healing and self-discovery. In our conversation, she told me why becoming a (very reluctant!) student of silent meditation changed her life, and how, even though she became a best-selling author, she used to hate writing. On this edition of Glambition radio, you’ll hear how Marci never gave up on her own happiness, and the formula she personally uses that can change your life. She shares a lot of really great advice, and lessons learned that you can start using in your business (and life) right now. I know you’ll get a lot out of this episode.  Claudia Chan, CEO & Founder of S.H.E. Global Media, this week on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:06

Listen here now: What inspired a young entrepreneur to create a global multimedia company that makes female empowerment welcoming, sexy and cool? Learn Claudia Chan’s story on this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, and how she’s changing the lives of women all over the world. Last year I was looking at what powerful women’s events were going on around the country, and the S.H.E. Summit immediately caught my eye. This fantastic 2-day Conference with influential female speakers brings women together to improve their lives and the lives of women all over the world. It partners with organizations like the UN Foundation, Merck, and The Wall Street Journal, and is designed to appeal to women from all walks of life and Claudia Chan is the entrepreneur behind this event as well as the founder and CEO of S.H.E. Global Media. Hear how she came up with the idea and launched it by clicking the play button at the top of this page. The daughter of Taiwanese immigrants, Claudia’s father moved here with just $7 in his pocket. She watched her parents build their own business together, as equals. They taught her by example to ‘just go for it’. She never questioned if she could start a business, so when she was 23, she just “went for it” and nine years later she had built a multi-million dollar media/nightlife and networking business called iLounge. But, when she hit her 30s, Claudia realized she was lacking passion in her work, and it began a pretty dark time for her. She decided to take the leap, leave behind the business she built, and find a way to make an important impact with the rest of her career. Grateful for her own empowerment that allowed her to become the successful entrepreneur she was, she decided to share the gift, and created S.H.E. Global Media and the now renowned S.H.E. summit. Claudia is a powerhouse! In our conversation, we discovered we had a lot in common. We both went to all-women’s colleges in Massachusetts, and we both had to ‘breakdown’ before we made the ‘breakthrough’ that allowed us to take the first steps toward success in our businesses and personal lives. On this edition of Glambition Radio, you’ll hear how Claudia never questioned IF she could accomplish anything, she just DID it!  She shares a lot of really great advice, and lessons learned that you can start using in your business (and life) right now. I know you’ll get a lot out of this episode.  Christine Hassler, author of Expectation Hangover, this week on Glambition Radio with Ali Brown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:38

Listen here now: If you were 25 and living the high life as a hotshot Hollywood agent, would you walk away without knowing quite what you were getting into? That’s exactly what Christine Hassler did, and she’s here to talk about it all on this week’s Glambition Radio. When we set goals and map out dreams that DON’T turn out as expected, how do you handle that? Christine says this is an epidemic for women right now… and she calls it the Expectation Hangover, which is the title of her latest book. It’s a frank, wise, and so-smart guide for dealing with —and leveraging—the many challenges and curveballs that life throws at us. I can relate. As I began to study success I was originally taught to map out every one of my goals with incredible detail. Then, when a goal wasn’t reached, I felt like an incredible failure. I would definitely call it an expectation hangover. And we had an incredible discussion around this on the show. Christine began her evolution as a Gen Y expert with a discussion group for quarter-lifers in Los Angeles struggling with questions about themselves and their lives. As she continued her investigation of herself and others, she began to craft a roadmap for life for people of all ages which includes discovery, self-acceptance, self-forgiveness and clarity. In 2005 Christine wrote the book 20 Something, 20 Everything, aimed at young women, and then released The 20 Something Manifesto. Now in her 30s, the Expectation Hangover is here! (Wonder what’s going to come in her 40s? ;)) We talked personal development, professional disappointment, dating in LA (ha!), how The Secret movie messed us up, and LOTS more.
