Popes and Feminist | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:28

This episode is a must-listen. Elise Crapuchettes, homemaker, author, and Duke law grad, joins us to discuss her new book, Popes and Feminists. Before the Reformation, the Roman Catholic Church did not consider the calling of a wife and mother to be holy. The only spiritual calling for women was to be found in a convent. The Reformers confronted the bad theology that fed this idea (and other worse abuses, like priest-patronized brothels), and returned to the Bible to develop a theology of vocation that began to free women to be holy no matter their occupation. But today, modern feminist claims about vocation have more in common with the pre-Reformation popes than anything else. The only difference is that feminists have replaced the convent with the hallowed corporate workplace.        In CrossPolitic news, we highlight a Texas cafe’s transgender bathroom policies, how the Australian women’s rugby governing body is handling a “bloke in a dress,” and Donna Brazile’s new book.   Upcoming events to note: 1) New Saint Andrews College has a prospective student weekend coming up November 10th through the 13th.  David Wheaton and the University of Destruction | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:48

This week we’re joined by David Wheaton, nationally syndicated radio host and 1991 winner of the Grand Slam Cup, to discuss the spiritual crisis on university campuses. As many as fifty percent of Christian students say they’ve lost their faith by the time they graduate college, and yet Christians continue to think there is no crisis. David’s book, University of Destruction, describes his own experiences at Stanford and outlines the three Pillars of Peril–sex, drugs/alcohol, and humanism–that students face in college, and discusses how students can raise their spiritual GPA as a strategy for gaining victory over these perils (follow this link for the study guide). In CrossPolitic news, we cover NPR CEO Ken Stern’s journey to conservatism, the referral of children to UK sex change clinics at the rate of 50 kids per week, and sex education testing in a public school in Oklahoma.  Dan Fisher for Governor and Humanism in Christian Music | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:00

Hopeful future governor of Oklahoma, Dan Fisher, makes a campaign stop to join us on the show. Dan is running on the ASAP platform: Abolish abortion, State sovereignty, Audit everything, and Proper government. We recommend you check him out and support him, even if you don’t live in Oklahoma. One state showing courage will go a long way, as we pray and labor for the Lordship of Christ over every state in this nation. In CrossPolitic news we discuss the sad state of affairs, as our local hospital, here in Moscow, is becoming the northwest hub for transgendered surgeries. As part of this discussion, we work through how a nurse should respond, if working for a hospital that mutiliates its patients. We also discuss LeCrae’s new album and the humanism in Christian music. The church needs to recover a love for singing the Psalms, as part of our response to this humanism.  Harvey Weinstein Represents Hollywood Well, and Boise State’s Diversity is Fake Like Hollywood | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:43

Movie mogul, Harvey Weinstein, found his way into Hollywood’s moral buzzsaw this last week, and we can’t figure out what moral code they are operating off of. Weinstein’s ways have been known in Hollywood for years, and given enough public pressure, apparently anybody will grow a moral backbone, including Hollywood. Correction in the podcast: The original piece we referenced was published in the New Yorker, not the New York Times. Also, the writer of the piece, Ronan Farrow, worked for NBC, not ABC. Scott Yenor, Professor of Political Science at Boise State University, also joins us to discuss his recent encounter with faux diversity at BSU. Scott has written a number of pieces linking modern feminism to the transgender slippery slope, and apparently this logic is the “seed that, when nourished and allowed to grow, becomes the kind of hatred and intolerance that we saw on Display in Charlottesville.” Here are a couple of Scott’s books to check out: Family Politics: The Idea of Marriage in Modern Political Thought David Hume’s Humanity: The Philosophy of Common Life and Its Limits (Recovering Political Philosophy) Upcoming events to note: 1) New Saint Andrews College has a prospective student weekend coming up November 10th through the 13th. To sign up to visit please click here. 2) Water Boy and Choc Knox will be in Roanoke, Virginia beginning Saturday through Wednesday, so reach out to contact@crosspolitic.com to connect if it fits their schedule.  Pastor Doug Wilson Joins us to Discuss the Vegas Shooting and Abortion | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:22

The Vegas shooting was tragic and an awful display of man’s depravity. We should mourn with those who mourn, but this was not the liberal response. It did not take long before liberals, like Hillary Clinton, seized the moment to push a political agenda. How we respond matters, and speaks to the greater worldview battles in our culture.  Who is our savior? The government? Legislation? Is Jimmy Kimmel’s sermon the solution or is Christ the solution? We also get into the recent bill House passed that bans abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. As abolitionist, how do we think about bills like this? Upcoming events to note: 1) New Saint Andrews College has a prospective student weekend coming up November 10th through the 13th. To sign up to visit please click here. 2) Some of our host will be traveling, and we are always happy to meet our listeners, as traveling schedules permit. So feel free to connect with us on social media, when you see us travel.

NFL Protest, Patriotism, and the 14th Amendment Defends the Unborn | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:14:21

What does the NFL protest have to do with worship? Is it anti-patriotic to protest our nation’s failures, or does the current protest show something deeper going on in our society? Pastor Toby tweeted this week: “Don’t miss the fact that football stadiums are the cathedrals of modern America & 2 false religions are currently involved in a worship war.”  Josh Craddock, whose writing has appeared in National Review Online, Public Discourse, The Stream, and Providence Magazine, he also managed advocacy teams for several non-profit organizations at the United Nations, promoting life and the family during negotiations for the Sustainable Development Goals, joins us to discuss his paper arguing that the 14th Amendment protects the unborn.  Upcoming events to note: 1) New Saint Andrews College has a prospective student weekend coming up November 10th through the 13th. To sign up to visit please click here.  2) Christ Church has the Post-college Life Conference this October 6th and 7th. Sign up here!

Business of Forgiveness | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:00:16

We are back on our regular schedule, and had the privilege of interviewing Jason Elmore, sales leader and author of Elite Execution. Sales books are a dime in a dozen, but we think Jason has some real value to add to this discussion. This is particularly the case when Jason introduces the concept of forgiveness in the business world.         In CrossPolitic news we cover CNN’s interview with a Fox Sports commentator, transgendered curriculum in public schools, and Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich press conference stating people have changed not guns.  Upcoming events to note: 1) New Saint Andrews College has a prospective student weekend coming up November 10th through the 13th. To sign up to visit please click here.  2) Christ Church has the Post-college Life Conference this October 6th and 7th. Sign up here!

This will be a live show at the historic Nuart Theatre in Downtown Moscow, ID. This event is free and open to the public, so please join us if you are in town. For this rerun Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., joins us to discuss the lie of abortion and why repentance has played such a key role in her life in restoring her soul and her thinking. Since 1973 America has killed over 50 million babies on the altar of convenience and sexual freedom. We have blood on our hands, and that blood will only be washed by the blood of Jesus.  Rerun: The High Price of Obamacare’s Socialized Medicine | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:08

Folks we truly thank you for listening, sharing, purchasing our merch, and all your support. Our podcast is less than a year old, and has grown from a measly several hundred downloads per month to about 20,000 downloads per month. We thank God for this, and for the opportunity to be apart of advancing His kingdom through this medium. We are taking the month of August off, due to work and a special episode we have coming September 1st (see here). So this August we will be releasing reruns that a lot of you have probably missed. Thank you for your prayers and look forward to our September live show. For this rerun, we address a problem that our government frankly is unable to solve. American Christianity has surrendered ground in areas that have supposed “little gospel application”.  But the Lordship of Christ is over every area of our lives, and this means the gospel applies to everything–including our healthcare. Dr. Jim Brook, author of The High Price of Socialized Medicine, joins us to discuss why the free market would provide higher quality, cheaper healthcare in contrast to Obamacare.  Dr. Brook runs his own practice, and rejects health insurance in order to keep his pricing low and his service focused on the patient. Jesus is Lord overall, and as we seek to bring every thought captive under Christ, this should include our understanding of healthcare and economics.
