40-Years of Diving, Discovering WW1 wrecks & finding an "Ocean of Self" in the sea with: Dr Mark Spencer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4215

Do you ever feel the need or desire to just chuck it all in and head out into the big wide world on an adventure? As a young kid I learnt to Scuba Dive when I was 14 years old. This to me was the coolest thing ever and every time I went out it was my very own adventure. I always loved the ocean and to be able to spend extended periods of time below the surface had a big impact on my life growing up and as an adult where I even found myself with a second job as a ship's diver in the Navy. Our guest today has over 40-years of scuba diving experience. When you look over his achievements he has done pretty much everything there is to do in the scuba diving world including deep diving on mixed gases and cave diving in freshwater. Mark has balanced the demands of his practice as a dental surgeon with a passion for underwater exploration and photography. His documentation of subterranean fresh-water caves and deep shipwrecks with a stills camera has seen his work published in Australian Geographic and diving publications world-wide. In 1998, with the assistance of the Royal Australian Navy, he led a team of divers and a maritime archaeologist to Turkey to confirm the Turkish discovery of Australia's WW1 submarine AE2, lying at a depth of 72 metres in the Sea of Marmara. Mark is a not only a deep diver but a very deep thinker as well. He recently completed his book Ocean of Self which examines the nature of consciousness using the ocean as a metaphor. Mark embodies the true go all in spirit of a modern day adventurer and I'm excited to be sharing his wonderful story with you here today. http://oceanofself.com.au/ https://www.facebook.com/oceanofself/

Going All In & Making the Most of the Australian Opportunity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2602

As many of you know I am a proud Aussie. I truly think that we live in the luckiest country in the world. You can be do or have anything you want in this great place, and sure it has its faults like anything, but on a whole is still the best place in the world to live. It's hard not to take it all for granted, and I'm reminded often that this place was built on the backbone of immigration. Our guest today embodies everything it means to go all in and make the most of the Australian opportunity. Liia came to Australia from Estonia in 2009 with no network, almost no english and no family to help her. Back home before leaving, Liia had earned her master's in teaching and is a passionate and accomplished artist. She left a promise of media career behind as well as everything else to explore a new country and the opportunities that we have here. Once the excitement of arriving in a new country had calmed down it became very real very fast and with true grit and determination, like thousands of immigrants before her, she managed to carve out a life, find a career and is moving towards an ever improving future with the opportunities that she continues to create for herself. After 10-years in Australia she is now a fully fledged Aussie citizen albeit still with the Estonian roots! Her story is one of commitment, determination and a true go all attitude to make the most of what you have in front of you.

From Expat to Shaking Hands with the Prime Minister with Aryeh Stenberg | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3209

In my humble opinion there has never been a time in history than now to to live and work abroad as an expat. The incredible connectivity we have coupled with the ability to make money with a laptop is unlike any other time in human history. Our guest today knows the expat life well. As an American he has lived and worked in many countries through the world. Aryeh's first experiences as an expat were in Vietnam in the late 1990's in the construction industry. This was in the days before the internet was mainstream, before email and social media and it meant you had to network the old fashioned way by talking face to face! Aryeh quickly had to learn how to do business across a culture he knew nothing about and on top of that he was in a communist country where he was also unfamiliar with how things were and are done. Aryeh worked it out quickly and he went from working on regular construction projects to shaking hands with the Prime Minister of Vietnam which was complete validation of his skills as a businessman, a hustler and a true expat. This is a go all in story of living in the moment, working as hard as you can and daring to take chances that might pay off in spades.
