 Episode-1481- The Backyard Nursery | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:15:15

TweetGoji Cuttings Rooted in 5 Days Flat! In the last two years I have planted over 400 trees, bushes, vines, etc. on my property.  Right now I have 150 small support trees (locust and autumn olive) waiting to be planted into my food forest. The sheer variety of what will be budding out and going into full on growth mode in 2015 has me very excited.  There are over 20 varieties of apple, an equal if not higher variety of plumbs, 6 different low chill cherries and more.  I still have to find a home that will meet the needs of 10 bush hazels. I have even found a spot I call current row and it is now planted with 7 currant varieties, this little sweet spot is perfect to help currants survive my harsh climate.  I have many varieties of autumn olive going like gang busters, three different mull berry species and comfrey nestled down for the winter everywhere. It has all been a ton of fun, but let me tell you what I have learned during this time… 1.  Plants are trees are fascinating 2.  The variety of what is available in any climate is staggering 3.  Even small spaces can be planted with dozens or hundreds of trees 4.  For every tree you are going to want 10 or more other perennial plants 5.  Finding what you want is often difficult and highly seasonal 6.  The big one, plants and trees are expensive! This has led me to begin the planning and development of my own back yard nursery.  Today I will discuss that and the things are are currently building and installing. I will also discuss the opportunity that exists in this space for running your own business and the various ways you can get started. Join Me Today to Discuss… My current plans (phyical build happening now) Intermittent Misting Beds Tree seedlings and grow out beds Nursery work station Future plans High quality green house Highly Insulated Rear wall solid, no glass Lean-to style roof Power and automated watering Really a small house with plants in it Will use a thermal battery (earth based) Delayed until next season (wife is getting her kitchen first) Why this makes a good business model Value creation – product production Current demand exceeds supply Allows for story based marketing You are selling an appreciating asset Countless niches Cider Apples Medicinal Plants Regional Specific Build a Guilds What Can You Think Of Creates repeat and referral business Legal hurtles are small (nursery permit) Product can be sold local, shipped or both Good margins, room to cut deals Easily started, not easily replicated Many small producer advantages over the “big guys” Some Plants I am Excited to Work With Goji Berry “Designer Autumn Olive” and Goumis  Various “seedling” and “spitter” apples Bush Cherries Elders Plums Figs Final Thoughts Resources for today’s show… Pre-Register for Nick Ferguson’s Plant Propagation Course Join the Members Brigade The Year 1481 Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom GenForward.com TSP Gear PermaEthos.com AgriTrue.com Fortress Defense Consultants – (sponsor of the day) Ready Made Resources – (sponsor of the day) Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-1480- What Might a Free Market Education System Look Like | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:46:00

TweetPerhaps Not Such a Bad Idea Note - There will be ZERO teacher bashing in this show.   Well zero teacher bashing as a wholesale group anyway, I promise. Yesterday I pointed out how many problems and divisions in society would not even exist if the state were not involved in key issues.  Once again I dared touch the sacred cow of pubic education.  Once again my inbox is crammed full of hate mail because I am “bashing teachers” when the truth is the word teacher wasn’t even used in yesterday’s show. Why this reaction?  Because logical and other wise intelligent and sane people become irrational even to the state of temporary insanity when something they see is necessary is called unnecessary.  They may not know why they even believe it to be necessary, they just do and that alone causes at times even a violent response when anyone even infers that they are wrong. School is important and an education is priceless.  Every child has a fundamental right to an education, everyone knows that right?  There are both truths and inaccuracies in those statements and combined they create what we call a logical fallacy.  What is a logical fallacy?  Logical fallacies are unsubstantiated assertions that are often delivered with a conviction that makes them sound as though they are proven facts.  This is often done by taking true facts and combing them with total fabrication or unsubstantiated conclusions based on some of the actual facts. In this case “school is important”, well no, education is important, but school is only one form of education.  School is not required for education to even occur. Every child has a right to an education is another one.  We must first understand that a right as used above means the following… A moral or legal entitlement to have or obtain something or to act in a certain way. This means that there is a moral and legal obligation to provide everyone with an education.  Is that actually the case?   I don’t believe it is, not in the way we are led to believe anyway. This also omits a critical reality, that every right comes with corresponding responsibilities.  Further that the State is to ensure rights primary by not oppressing them or allowing others to oppress them. For instance your right to free speech comes with responsibility to not say incite violence or yell fire in a crowded theater.  More over, the state isn’t responsible to provide you a venue for your free speech nor to force people to listen to you, only to ensure your rights are not trampled on, nor are they permitted to impede them.  This brings us to yet another fallacy, the “fallacy of omission” which is… Errors occur because the logician leaves out necessary material in an argument or misdirects others from missing information. The reality is there are hundreds of fallacies and almost all of them at one point or another could be applied to most things we hold sacred such as public education. Today I would like to examine what a true free market education system might look like.  Once we do I ask that you use logic and reason to determine for yourself not if such a system would be perfect, only would it be better than what we have.  Every system is flawed, this doesn’t mean a system with flaws can’t be better than a system with even greater flaws.  To assert that a flawed system isn’t a better system simply because it has some flaw, when the underlying system itself has greater flaws, is also a fallacy, can anyone name that fallacy? Join Me Today to Discuss… Is every child entitled to a good education Does the current system provide a good education to every child Who’s children are they anyway Why teachers are not to blame Why teachers can’t fix the system and why many would not if they could Answering the big but what if style questions… But who decides if an education is valid How would we ensure standards are met or t[...]

 Episode-1476- Understanding Money ~ I Mean Really Understanding It! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:46:20

TweetMoney Can Make You Put on Your Own Chains Today I am going to really discuss money at a high level, perhaps in some ways at a beyond PhD level, since many PhD’s in economics frankly don’t truly seem to understand money themselves. At this higher level on some of today’s content things may sound a bit metaphysical, they are not, there is just a certain stigma to certain words at this point like energy and matter and intention. Additionally some of the higher concepts may seem hard to understand or perhaps more ethereal then concrete and actionable.  Some of you might feel an urge to skip or gloss over them as not being that important. But do you want to know the truth?  Do you really? The concepts I will explain today about money are the blueprint for the enslavement of a society by those in power.  The oligarchs, the plutocracy and the State.  It is the very means by which individuals are controlled and it is nothing but an illusion. The problem though is unlike many illusions, this one causes multiple collective delusions and those create new realities that we much actually contend with.  Do you want to fully understand what all of that complex language means?  Then tune in today and it will all become clear. Join Me Today to Discuss… What is money How does money obey the laws of energy What does energy and money teach us about Durable Materials Fuel Energy Health Food Transportation Monetary Creation, Manipulation and Movement How is US money created and why does it work What is inflation and how does monetary velocity effect it Why anyone can create money but not all money works Why money fails How money created freedom How money then created slavery How to use this knowledge to your own advantage What you can and can’t control Why real value is the path to liberty Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade The Year 1476 Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom GenForward.com TSP Gear PermaEthos.com AgriTrue.com Safe Castle Royal – (sponsor of the day) Fortress Defense Consultants  – (sponsor of the day) Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-1473- The Thanksgiving Special for 2014 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:33:35

TweetNote – You can get a full transcript of the original portion of this show here. Many families read this and the Christmas show as part of their holidays. Today one day before the great American Holiday we stop and pause to think about what we have to be thankful for. The beginning of today’s show is new, most of it is rebroadcast of the first year I did this show. The beauty of this show is I feel it is something you can share with friends and family. The real history of Thanksgiving is actually a lot more interesting and special then many of the myths. Tune in today to hear… How thankful I am for all that has happened so far in 2014 Why much of what we learn about Thanksgiving is wrong or at least inaccurate How Thanksgiving was at one time considered a “damn yankee holiday” How Thanksgiving became a way for our nation to heal and reunite How the date of Thanksgiving has often been moved around and why The truth about those big buckles the pilgrims wore and all that black clothing What feasting meant 100 years ago to our prior generation that we have forgotten Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon. The trees grow to about 25 feet and the fruit is 3-6 inches long. They work best if you plant two for pollination. Some people refer to the Pawpaw as the “Miracle Fruit” and attribute their good health to it. The tree makes an attractive ornamental tree as well. Pawpaw plants are easy to grow. Find this plant and more at Bob Wells Nursery. Bob Wells Nursery specializes in anything edible: fruit trees, berry plants, nut trees, as well as the hard to find specialty trees.  Episode-1469- The Official Launch of Citizens Assisting Citizens | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:16:49

TweetWe Need You at CAC! In October of 2012 I rolled out of my warm bed, headed to my kitchen and poured a hot cup of coffee.  I walked my dogs, breathed cool beautiful fall air and got ready to head to my office (at the time called The Ant Hill).  I went inside and turned on the news to see how things were going for victims of Hurricane Sandy. I sat there for many minutes awestruck at what I saw.  Not so much the devastation, it was expected and I  had followed the storm closely.  I was mostly struck by how little people had, how unprepared they were.  I watched upper middle class people dumpster diving for food after only two days of aftermath.  I watched as people clamored where there was power to use small power stations people had set up just to charge up cell phones and tablets. I saw people who had waited for days for some level of help, get no help.  Some I felt like, why the hell don’t you get out of there and go to where you can get help, get supplies, etc.  Others I realized had no where to go, no car or their car was dead from storm waters. I watched big charities like the Red Cross run countless TV commercials to raise funds but not do much for the first week.  Later we would hear from the Red Cross’s own employees that funds and assets were diverted away from the Storm Response.  Based on the Red Cross’s Haiti Response this I already suspected things like that would happen. After considering this I climbed into my big old red F-350 and drove to the Anthill, during the 15 minute drive all I wanted to do was go home, load up some stuff and drive to NJ/NY and “help”.  Yet I realized I wasn’t prepared to help, I would not really know where to go, who to help, what to do, how to do it and likely the first responders there would see me as a hindrance and prevent me from helping. I started to conceive of a faster, more agile response force.  One run by preppers that would ignore a lot of red tape yet be official enough to operate without interference by other responders.  One that would simply go where the other organizations were not helping yet or where they were never going to help.  It would provide food, water, power, communications, a place to clean up and some guidance of what to do next. The critical thing was we could help in the first 72 hours when the big companies were just “getting set up” so that the eventually could help.  A group where inbound volunteers would communicate with on the ground scouts and buy what was needed on the way in.  So if you contributed to help today, your contribution could help today for the event you contributed to. That day I floated the idea on the air, 13 days later the idea had coaleced into a concept I at first called the TSP-DRT with DRT standing for Disaster Response Team and did this podcast about the concept.  From there I assembled a “Honcho Team”, two of whom Greg Gray and Steven Harris join us today to discuss the final result, Citizens Assisting Citizens. Join Us Today to Hear… What is the CAC Team What is the mission of the CAC Team What types of positions are open at CAC What we are looking for in volunteers Why we do background checks on all volunteers How you can join and or contribute to CAC Why and how we are setting up “scout/anchor” vehicles The “feeder vehicle” concept and how it works with anchor vehicles How we will equip our scout/anchor vehicles What are the initial services and items we will be providing to disaster victims Why type of disasters will CAC respond to How long can a volunteer expected to be deployed for How we will empower volunteers to purchase supplies en route to the disaster What percentage of funds donated to CAC will go to actual disaster relief What are CAC’s plans for future growth and development of services  Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade The Year 1469 Join Our Forum CACTeam.com Walking To Freedom TSP Gea[...]
