Brewers yeast is the by-product of making beer. It’s a bit bitter. Nutritional yeast does not have a bitter taste. Nutritional yeast is actually made with molasses, which is a by-product of sugar cane. Molasses is rich in nutrients.  Nutritional yeast makes 18 amino acids. It’s a complete protein.  Nutritional yeast also contains 15 minerals and trace minerals, such as:  • Selenium   • Chromium   • Manganese   • Copper   • Vanadium   • Molybdenum  Nutritional yeast is rich in glutathione, which is one of the most powerful antioxidants for your liver. It has beta 1-3 glucans, which can help decrease free radicals and stimulate certain white blood cells. Nutritional yeast also has glucose tolerance factors that help stabilize your blood sugar.  Make sure when you buy nutritional yeast supplements, it is non-fortified nutritional yeast. You don’t want it to be enriched with synthetic vitamins. Typically, you won’t see vitamin B12 in nutritional yeast unless it has been added in. If it is added in, make sure it’s the natural version called methylcobalamin.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Today we’re going to talk about referred pain.  What is referred pain?  Basically, referred pain is pain that is coming from a different location than where you hurt.  Referred pain examples: 1. Pancreas May have referred pain to the left shoulder or the back. It may also not be referred pain and hurt right over the pancreas. 2. Spleen  May refer pain to the left shoulder. 3. Heart May refer pain to the left arm, shoulder, or jaw. 4. Gallbladder  May refer pain to the shoulder area. 5. Liver May refer pain to the right shoulder.  6. Ovary May refer pain to the lower back. 7. Prostate May refer pain to the lower back. 8. Kidney  May refer pain anywhere underneath the last rib to the spine. A kidney stone can cause pain in the groin area, but the problem is not in the groin.  What causes referred pain? They don’t really know what causes referred pain.  A very large percentage of people have referred pain versus pain from the actual pain source. If you haven’t had an injury to a certain area, but it starts hurting for no reason, it’s likely referred pain.  What to do for referred pain:  • Healthy keto  • Intermittent fasting  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Sharp Stomach Pain That Comes and Goes | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 594

Today, we’re going to talk about why you might have sharp stomach pain that comes and goes.  What causes stomach pain that comes and goes? 1. SIBO  The worst thing to consume if you have SIBO is vegetables. If you have SIBO, try taking betaine hydrochloride. 2. Inflammation/Ulcer  This could be caused by damage from something you’re eating or a food allergy. Try a food allergy test to identify the problem. For an ulcer, taking chlorophyll may help.  3. Gallbladder/Bile ducts  Eating the wrong types of foods, or high levels of certain hormones can cause a stone. This can create irritation.   4. Pancreas/Duct  Carbs can cause your pancreas to work too hard. If it’s working too hard, the stimulation can interfere with the normal flow of digestive juices, which can cause a lot of problems.  5. Gluten   For some people, this can be poisonous and cause a lot of damage to their system. 6. Fortification (iron)  Enriched flour products contain iron. Excessive amounts of iron can be very toxic and cause a lot of damage.  7. Vegetable oil  Vegetable oils are highly inflammatory to the digestive system.  8. GMO grains  GMO grains are sprayed with glyphosate, which can irritate your digestive system.   9. Low stomach acid  If you don’t have enough acid in your stomach, it will cause food to go through undigested—causing problems. Try consuming apple cider vinegar and betaine hydrochloride. 10. Frequent eating  Intermittent fasting allows the gut to heal and rest.  Other than those things, try consuming moderate amounts of protein and keep your carbs low. Also, consume plenty of vegetables except if you have SIBO.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! In this podcast, I’m going to talk to you about the different causes of jaundice. Jaundice is a situation where your skin and the whites of your eyes turn yellow. This is caused by bilirubin backing up into the skin.  Bilirubin is a compound that comes from the breakdown of red blood cells. This happens because your liver isn’t clearing them out. With infants, this can mean that their liver is underdeveloped. With adults, it’s typically liver damage.  There are 8 things you can try to help get rid of jaundice.  1. Sunlight (or phototherapy) 2. Vitamin D 3. Rosemary 4. Lemon juice 5. Ginger 6. Amla berry 7. Oregano 8. Milk thistle Give these a try and see if they help you get rid of jaundice.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Hypothyroidism May Not Be a Thyroid Problem | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 549

Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Call 1-540-299-1557 with your questions about Keto, Intermittent Fasting or the use of Dr. Berg products. Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 9 pm EST. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Did you know that the majority of hypothyroid conditions are not really a thyroid problem? 90% of all hypothyroid conditions are Hashimoto's. This is an autoimmune condition. With this autoimmune condition, the thyroid has antibodies that attack itself. This is immune dysfunction, not necessarily a thyroid problem. But, it does affect the thyroid.  This could be why many people with this condition never see any change—because they're treating the wrong problem. If you look up hypothyroidism, you will see that the cause is low thyroid hormones. But what's causing the low thyroid hormones?  If you have hypothyroidism that's not involved with Hashimoto's, it could be secondary to something else. 80% of the conversion of T4 to T3 happens through the liver. So, if there's something going on with the liver or the gallbladder, it could mean that you're just not getting the conversion of T4 to T3. You could also have a situation where there is too much estrogen in the body. In this case, the estrogen can block the thyroid.  Some other data talks about consuming too many cruciferous vegetables being behind a thyroid problem. But, the studies on this are very sparse. You would also have to consume a tremendous amount of cruciferous vegetables to deplete enough iodine to cause a weakness in the thyroid. There is no data that says consuming cruciferous vegetables will kill the thyroid.  If you're worried about cruciferous vegetables causing a thyroid problem, you could steam them or ferment them. You could also have some sea kelp to help replace the iodine that could potentially be depleted by cruciferous vegetables. But, cruciferous vegetables can help regulate estrogen, and really, cruciferous vegetables benefit the entire body.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. I want to cover the key zinc deficiency causes and the things that can help increase your absorption of zinc. I believe zinc is probably one of the most important trace minerals. Over 2 billion people are at least somewhat deficient in zinc.  The big problem with zinc is that we don’t store zinc very well. So, unless you’re consuming it every day, you could end up having a zinc deficiency.  Zinc can affect:  • The reproductive organs   • Skin health   • The immune system  Here are a couple of things that can decrease the absorption of zinc:  • Too much calcium   • Too much iron   • Excessive amounts of copper  • Phytates (bran, rice, grains, corn)  • Cadmium   • Casein   • Gut damage   • A lot of tannins   • A lot of sulfites   • Infection   • Refined sugar  • Stress Here are a couple of things that can increase the absorption of zinc:  • Strong stomach acid  • Enough protein   • Red meat   • Shellfish (especially oysters)  • Nuts/Seeds  • Cheese  The amount of zinc you should consider getting per day is 8-13 mg.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. Did you know this:  • The average American consumes 53 pounds (26 kg) of bread per year.   • The glycemic index of bread is 71 - 81.   • Low-fat bread has too many carbs that turn into fat and then spikes insulin, which blocks the ability to burn the fat.   • A lot of white bread has bleach (chlorine dioxide) in it, which may lead to type 1 diabetes.  • Transglutaminase is an enzyme that can worsen the sensitivity to gluten.   • When you consume whole grains, you're getting bran, which is loaded with phytic acid that blocks zinc.   • The more bread you consume, the more you're deleted of B-vitamins, vitamin E, and zinc. Vitamin B1 and vitamin E are essential for the heart.  Keto-friendly alternatives to bread: 1. Oopsie bread (cloud bread) 2. You can make bread out of almond flour, cauliflower, chia seed, flaxseed, coconut flour, and zucchini  3. My keto-friendly bread recipe If you're craving bread, you're usually deficient in vitamin B1. Taking nutritional yeast can help reduce these cravings. Healthy keto and intermittent fasting can also help make your hunger go down, making it easier to avoid bread. In this podcast, we’re going to talk about intermittent fasting and how fasting affects the heart.  It all starts with lowering insulin. When you fast, you lower insulin. Insulin controls what type of fuel your body is going to run on.  Fatty acids from fat cells are the main source of fuel to the heart. Your heart actually prefers a type of ketone called acetoacetate.  Fasting switches your body from glucose to ketones. But, when you eat, you go from ketosis to glucose. Ketones also have the ability to feed the heart if the heart is in a damaged state. So, if you have any type of cardiovascular disease, you may benefit from intermittent fasting and providing your body with ketones through a low-carb diet.  More benefits of intermittent fasting for the heart:  • Improvement with atherosclerosis   • Less stiffness in the arteries   • Lower blood pressure   • Improved insulin resistance which will improve your ability to absorb electrolytes Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods. In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the harmful effects of vaping.  480,000 people die each year from an issue related to smoking. How many years did it take to recognize that smoking kills people? It took 50 years. Vaping has only been around since 2003, and there are no long-term studies on it.  With vaping, you’re actually inhaling an aerosol, which is a certain gas. It’s a vaporized mist of propylene glycol and glycerin. Some of the pods that are used for vaping actually contain more nicotine than a pack of cigarettes. If a person starts to experiment with nicotine before the age of 20, the risk of addiction (to more than just smoking) goes way up. You’re also vaping from a device that has the capacity to explode.  With flavored vaping, the chemicals are cytotoxic to your lungs. There are heavy metals, and it has the ability to impair DNA. It can also cause oxidation to the inside lining of your arteries.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.
