Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! We’re going to talk about the incredible benefits of cryotherapy.  Since the Stone Age, our bodies have adapted to various things like starvation and freezing. A little bit of freezing occasionally is very beneficial to your body. It creates something called the hormetic effect. It induces a small amount of stress to make your body stronger.  There are certain genes, proteins, and enzymes that become activated when you put yourself in colder temperatures. You can use a cryotherapy chamber to get this effect, or just take a cold shower.  Cryotherapy:  • Increases satellite cells (turns into a muscle cell)  • Increases kinases cells   • Suppresses certain genes that regulate inflammation   • Increases mitochondria The 10 benefits of cryotherapy: 1. Decrease muscle soreness and repair muscle damage 2. Improves the immune system  3. Decreases inflammation 4. Increases mood 5. Promotes better sleep 6. Improves metabolism  7. Increases the antioxidant network 8. Fights oxidative stress 9. Improves herniated discs  10. Decreases pain/spasm Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Egg Yolk vs Egg White: What's the Difference? | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 381

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! I want to talk about the difference between egg yolk and egg white. This is a question I get a lot.  Many people only eat egg whites because they think that egg yolk is unhealthy, and it will lead to clogged arteries. This is a big mistake. Most of the good nutrition is in the yolk. Yes, egg yolks contain cholesterol, but this will not clog your arteries.  Keep in mind that when you consume cholesterol, your body simply makes less of it. In fact, only around 25% of your cholesterol comes from your diet—your body makes the other 75%. You need cholesterol for your brain, cells, membranes, and hormone production.  Egg yolks also contain healthy fat-soluble vitamins—A, E, D, and K2. In addition, it contains trace minerals, vitamin B12, folate, phospholipids, calcium, and immunoglobins.  Egg whites contain most of the protein, avidin, B2, B3, magnesium, and potassium.  I recommend that you consume both egg yolk and egg white. Always go with farm-raised and organic eggs.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Why Your Fat Determines Your Vitamin D | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 300

Talk to a Dr. Berg Keto Consultant today and get the help you need on your journey (free consultation). Call 1-540-299-1557 with your questions about Keto, Intermittent Fasting or the use of Dr. Berg products. Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 9 pm EST. Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! I recently did a video on why vitamin D can help you lose weight. Today, we’re going to talk about the reverse of that. This is a complex subject, but I’m going to try to make it really simple.  Basically, we’re talking about how much fat you have on your body, and you’re vitamin D levels. There are two things you need to know: 1. The fatter you are, the less vitamin D you’re going to have. 2. When you lose weight, you increase your vitamin D level.  Why do your vitamin D levels go up when you lose weight? There is a relationship between body fat and vitamin D. A lack of vitamin D can increase weight. But, the missing piece of the puzzle is insulin and insulin resistance.  Insulin resistance causes your body to store fat and prevents fat burning. It’s also behind type 2 diabetes. Insulin causes pre-fat cells to turn into fat. Insulin and insulin resistance increase fat. The more fat you have, the more insulin and insulin resistance you’re going to have.   When you take vitamin D, you actually lower insulin and improve insulin resistance. This is why it’s so essential for people who have prediabetes, diabetes, or insulin resistance to take vitamin D. The reason why your fat cells determine your vitamin D levels really has to do with this:   • The more fat you have, the more insulin you have. The more insulin you have, the more insulin resistance you have.  • When you lose weight, and you have less weight on your body, you’re going to have less insulin, less insulin resistance, and more vitamin D.  Why Do I Feel Worse When Eating Red Meat? | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 349

I want to talk about why you might feel bad after consuming red meat. There are actually two reasons you might have problems with red meat.  First, you may not have enough hydrochloric acid in your stomach to digest the protein. This is a common problem, and it’s easy to fix. All you need to do is to take some betaine hydrochloride and apple cider vinegar capsules. This will help increase your stomach’s acidity so you can properly digest red meat. Many people have this problem as they get older.  The second issue that you may be accumulating too much iron. While iron is essential for a healthy body, too much can be a problem. The thing is, our bodies don’t have a natural mechanism to get rid of iron. So if you have too much, you can develop some problems, including liver issues, headaches, joint pain, fatigue, and insomnia.  The two types of iron are heme iron and non-heme iron. Non-heme iron doesn’t cause as much of a problem as heme iron.  How to reduce iron: • Give blood • Avoid heme iron • Avoid iron supplements • Phytate (IP6) • EDTA • Antioxidants Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  The #1 Barrier to Healing and Recovery is… | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 422

I want to talk about the biggest barrier to recovery and health, which is stress.  In particular, we’re going to talk about the activation of the “fight or flight” mechanism. The sympathetic nervous system’s primary function is to stimulate your body’s fight-or-flight response.  When your body is in a fight or flight state, your adrenal glands are activated, which sharply increases your levels of cortisol and adrenaline.  Our bodies aren’t made to endure long periods of time in fight or flight mode—you can endure 90 seconds or less without a problem. However, today’s environments at work and in daily activities promote the fight or flight system to work endlessly, which just isn’t healthy.  The problem is, when you get stressed, you cannot heal or recover. When fight-or-flight mode is always activated, you… • Are unable to get good sleep • Cannot heal • Release glucose • Can’t recover • Can experience poor digestion • Have poor wound healing • Retain sodium • Excrete potassium • May cause damage to your hippocampus  • Have added risk of disease and infection • Experience chronic inflammation • Experience an increased risk of heart disease • Experience bone loss • Experience a loss of collagen formation You can help reduce your stress levels with these simple things: • Exercise: • Diet • Fasting • Acupressure  • Vitamin B1, potassium, and magnesium • Breathing exercises  • Vacation/taking time off • Not taking things so seriously Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  The Side effects of Vitamin D Come From a Magnesium Deficiency | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 283

We’re going to talk about the side effects of vitamin D and how they can actually occur because of a magnesium deficiency.  Side effects of vitamin D:  • Headaches  • Insomnia   • Restlessness   • Muscle cramps   • Palpitations  • Anxiety  • Constipation Magnesium is needed for vitamin D to be absorbed. Magnesium helps lower the side effects of taking vitamin D, even though the side effects are not from vitamin D—they’re from a magnesium deficiency. Most people have a subclinical magnesium deficiency.  Magnesium:  • Is a cofactor for 300 enzymes   • Is involved in protein synthesis   • Helps regulate blood sugars  • Is involved in energy production  • Is involved in making glutathione  The only side effect of vitamin D (large amounts without vitamin K2) could be hypercalcemia symptoms. But this is very rare. Magnesium-rich foods:  • Leafy greens (at least 7 cups per day)  • Pumpkin seeds  • Nuts What you can do in this situation is take some magnesium with your vitamin D, and that may help these symptoms clear up. There are some cases where vitamin D won’t work, and that can be because of:  • A problem with the gallbladder  • Liver damage  • Kidney damage  • Not taking vitamin K2  • Gastric bypass  • GI issues  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Stop Anti-aging Creams and Do This Instead... | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 474

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Should you use anti-aging cream, does it even work? The answer is no. Anti-aging cream will not make your skin any younger. Anti-aging creams do often make your skin tighter and more hydrated, but they do not make the skin younger.  Is there a way to reverse the aging process or at least slow it down? Yes, there is. You just have to understand the concept of "inside out" vs. "outside in." You can't get the body to look and feel younger by applying something topically or working from the outside in. You have to work from the inside out.  Look at the balance of how much oxidation is going on versus the antioxidants in the body, which counter free-radical damage. There are two sources of antioxidants: exogenous (through the diet) and endogenous (your body can make antioxidants).  A high carb diet and low nutrients can make the aging process worse. But, if you switch your diet from glucose to ketones, the ketones will act as an antioxidant. I always recommend the healthy ketogenic diet to help get the nutrients you need.  You also want to preserve the growth hormone. Glucose, insulin, cortisol, and alcohol will lower the growth hormone. Exercise, fasting, and sleep can help spike growth hormone.  The best combination for anti-aging: 1. Intermittent fasting & prolonged fasting 2. Get plenty of sleep 3. Keep your stress levels down 4. Exercise 5. Do healthy keto  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Fat Soluble vs Water Soluble Vitamins: When Do You Take Them? | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 255

I want to talk to you about fat-soluble vitamins vs. water-soluble vitamins. When should you take them, and what is the difference? Fat-soluble vitamins are stored in your fat cells and in your liver. Water-soluble vitamins are not stored—if you consume too much, your body will get rid of what you don’t need.  Fat soluble vitamins include: • Vitamin A • Vitamin D • Vitamin E • Vitamin K1 • Vitamin K2 These vitamins are able to penetrate the fat layer of your cells and go deeper. They can even affect your DNA and mitochondria. Water-soluble vitamins are not capable of this.  Water soluble vitamins include: • B vitamins • Vitamin C You want to take fat-soluble vitamins along with fatty foods. So it’s best to have fat-soluble vitamins with food. They are absorbed far better this way.  You can take water-soluble vitamins any time—you don’t need fat to help with absorption.  Fat-soluble vitamins are toxic in large amounts. Unlike water-soluble vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins are stored, and excess amounts cannot be released through the urine.  Keep in mind that you should be taking water-soluble vitamins while you fast since your body doesn’t store them very well.  Check Out What Happened When I Fasted for 21 Hours: Dr. Berg's Intermittent Fasting Experiment | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 289

Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! I want to tell you what happened when I increased my fasting to 21 hours.  Normally I eat around 12-1 and 6-7. I get about 18 hours of fasting with a six-hour eating window. For my intermittent fasting experiment, I had my first meal at 3 and my last meal at 6. That's just a three-hour eating window, which gives me 21 hours of fasting. This may not seem like much, but it made a significant difference in my cognitive function.   The intermittent fasting benefits I experienced after 21 hours:  • Improved memory  • More focus  • Better learning  • Better at locating things  • More creativity  • Better mood  • Increased productivity  • More organized   • More decisive  Here's what happens. You increase something called BDNF. This is a protein that helps you grow neurons and slow aging. More health benefits of intermittent fasting:  • Increases ketones  • Increases autophagy  • Improves synapses  You may already be doing this intermittent fasting pattern, or you may be doing OMAD (one meal a day). But, if you're at 18 hours or less, I challenge you to start trying 21 hours of fasting. Try it for three days, and then evaluate your cognitive function.  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Not Losing on Keto: See 9 Reasons Why | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 588

In this podcast, we're going to talk about weight loss plateaus. I'm going to cover why you're not losing weight on keto, and also some keto weight loss tips.  What is normal?  When someone does keto and intermittent fasting, they typically lose a lot of water weight in the first week, maybe even 8 pounds. But then, in the second week, they are hardly losing weight at all, maybe 2 pounds. Well, the maximum amount of fat you can lose per week with a healthy metabolism is only 2 pounds. 1/2 - 2 pounds in actually really good.  It's get healthy to lose weight, not lose weight to get healthy.  Your health comes first, weight loss second. If you start the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting and you're not losing weight, but you notice your hunger is gone, realize that it's working. You just need to give it more time because the body has to get healthy first.  Muscle weighs more than fat per volume. If you have a loss of muscle protein, and you start the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting, your body is going to repair that first. So, you might start to gain more muscle. You might notice that your waist is still shrinking, and that means it's working.  Keto not working? Try this: 1. Double-check your carbs  2. Adjust your fasting pattern  3. Cut down on vegetables if you're bloating 4. Cut down your fat to about 75g 5. Exercise  6. Add 30 minutes - 1 hour of sleep 7. Add apple cider vinegar, potassium, vitamin B1, magnesium, and vitamin D 8. Reduce stress  9. Fix health problems  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Thyroid Health is Dependent on the Liver | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 301

In this podcast, In this video, we’re going to talk about your thyroid health. I’m going to share with you how to fix your thyroid by fixing your liver. There is a significant link between hypothyroid conditions and a fatty liver. The higher the liver enzymes, the worse the thyroid is.  80% of the conversion of T4 (the inactive thyroid hormone) to T3 (the active thyroid hormone) occurs through the liver. 20% is through the kidney. If there is kidney damage, that will also inhibit the conversion.  If you can improve the liver just a little bit, you may be able to create huge improvements in the thyroid. In the majority of cases, the root cause of a fatty liver is fructose or a high carb diet. It’s not the fat. It’s the carbs.  Natural remedies for this situation: 1. Selenium 2. Keto and intermittent fasting 3. Milk thistle  4. Choline  5. Zinc  6. Vitamin D Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.  Intermittent Fasting and Muscle Mass Gain | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 419

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about intermittent fasting and muscle mass. Can you gain muscle while fasting? Let’s say you want the benefits of intermittent fasting, but you also want to gain muscle, how can you do that? Well, there are several factors in play here.  Sometimes people think they need to spike insulin to gain muscle mass. They load up on carbs because carbs trigger insulin, and insulin is an anabolic hormone. But, when you stimulate insulin too much, you create insulin resistance. If you have insulin resistance, you can’t absorb protein or amino acids that well. What to do to help gain muscle mass: 1. Do 2 meals a day (do intermittent fasting for at least 16 hours) 2. Get enough exercise  3. Don’t go over 50g of carbs (if you’re younger, you may be able to go up to 70g) 4. Consume 6-8 oz. of complete protein per meal (egg and fish are good)  5. Get your nutrients (calcium, B vitamins, magnesium, vitamin D, potassium) A few things that can slow down muscle gain or cause muscle loss: 1. Cortisol  2. Long fasts (72 hours) 3. Insomnia  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional & natural methods.
