All of us will face moments in life when critical decisions must be made; times when different roads intersect and we need to figure out which way to go and what to do. Making the right decisions can lead to the kind of “rest for your souls” mentioned in Jeremiah 6:16, and making the wrong decisions can lead to short term or long term regret, depending on the seriousness of the situation. What do you do when you are at a crossroads in life? In today’s teaching, Pastor Gary takes a look at Jeremiah 6:16 which gives us some counsel and wisdom for the crossroads of life.

There is a lot of evil in our world. We all see it. But often times, we detach ourselves from the evil in the world and quietly, subconsciously whisper to ourselves that we are better than all the “bad guys” in the world. Truth is, we are all “bad guys” and there is only one Good Guy who died for the all the bad guys and girls in the world—Jesus Christ! Only through Him can we have forgiveness and receive a new heart and a new life! Mankind is not the solution to mankind’s problem; Jesus is! In today’s study, Pastor Gary tackles the uncomfortable topic of sin in our world and how we all stand guilty before a holy God. Fortunately for us, that same holy, perfect God sent His Son into the world to make us righteous before God through faith in Christ. Our hope, forgiveness, and peace is found in Christ alone.

There are a lot of people in the world who try many things to find satisfaction and fulfillment, only to end up feeling empty. Does that describe you? Truth is, only God can satisfy the deepest longings of our soul, and without Him, life can feel pretty unfulfilling. This is the situation concerning the Jewish people in the time of Jeremiah—they tried to do life without God, but it was futile and unsatisfying. Pastor Gary talks about this problem that many people face as we make our way through the opening chapters of Jeremiah in today’s study entitled, “Broken Cisterns.”

If you like TV shows and movies about “time travel”, then you should like the Bible. The Bible takes us back in time and into the future as well. It’s about both history and prophecy. Isaiah concludes his book by giving us a glimpse into the future—to a time even beyond our own day. He takes us to a time when all people will live in peace; a time when even the animal kingdom will be tame; a time when joy and laughter will fill the streets instead of weeping and crying; a time when people will live long lives, and there will be blessing and prosperity. Isaiah writes about the time known as “The Millennial Reign of Christ” when Jesus returns to earth and rules and reigns from Jerusalem for 1000 years. Pastor Gary describes what life will look like in the Millennial Kingdom in today’s study from Isaiah 65-66.

Is man basically good? Can we improve our condition by doing good things? Does God “grade on the curve?” Pastor Gary answers these questions in our study today of Isaiah 64. There are myths that our culture believes and there is the truth that God expresses concerning the human condition. If we don’t have a proper, true understanding of the human heart then we will never understand our need for a Savior. God has provided a way for mankind to be made right with Him through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We can’t improve our own condition ourselves, but we can get a new heart from our Father in Heaven.

Isaiah 61 is a Messianic passage about Christ written hundreds of years before Christ that was fulfilled by Christ. In Luke 4, Jesus read from Isaiah 61 when He taught at the synagogue in Nazareth and said that He was the fulfillment of that passage—declaring Himself to be the Messiah. The verses Jesus read speak about the mission of His ministry and how He desires to bring healing, freedom, forgiveness and salvation to all who would believe and receive Him. Pastor Gary connects Isaiah 61 and Luke 4 and shares how God takes broken, sinful people and brings beauty out of the ashes of our lives.
