Will Rice and Annabel Park interview economist Dean Baker co-director of the Center for Economic Policy Research about the financial transaction tax popularly referred to as the Robin Hood tax. He has been advocating for this tiny tax on Wall Street transactions for years and it is now finally gaining support and momentum around the world. The Coffee Party supports the financial transaction tax and has featured it in its position paper. Annabel interviews Shahid Buttar of Bill of Rights Defense Committee (BORDC) about the controversial National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Last week Congress passed this law that declares the United States a battlefield and allows the indefinite military detention of US citizens without trial. According to BORDC, "It contains the most oppressive national security powers we’ve seen in our lifetimes, easily worse than any Bush administration policy." We'll talk to Shahid about the implications of NDAA and the BORDC's petition about it.
