Filmmaker and Coffee Party co-founder Eric Byler will guest host for Egberto Willies this week.  We're inviting calls from the Coffee Party community, and anyone and everyone interested in talking about politics and government.  This is Eric's first time hosting a show solo, without Annabel, Egberto, or Jeanene as co-pilots. Politics Done Right With Egberto Willies is a political talk show on current events. Our show on Thursday Feb. 9, 2012 will begin half an hour early at 2:00 PM with special guest Lawrence Lessig, author of the fabolous new book, Republic, Lost.  Lessig will take questions from callers including members of the Coffee Party Book Club, and others concerned about the corrupting influence of money in politics.  After we let Prof. Lessig get back to his busy schedule, we'll take further calls about the book, and strategize about taking action. Jeanene Louden is the first elected Secretary of the Coffee Party Board of Directors.  Her new Coffee Party Radio show will now run weekly on Thursdays at 2:30 ET (11:30 AM PT).  The purpose of the show will be to update Coffee Party members and supporters on what's going on with the newly elected Board of Directors, and to get a sense of how our community feels about current events, activities, and initiatives.  So please call in and tell Jeanene what's on your mind.  She'll be very pleased to share what she hears with her fellow Coffee Party Directors. We must look within ourselves for moral leadership and rise together to stop the casino on Wall St and the circus in Washington. Our survival is at stake. What are good tactics for shifting power to the People? We will first talk to John Bonifaz of Free Speech for the People who led a coalition of public interest groups and businesses in the filing of a friend-of-the-court brief before the Montana Supreme Court in defense of Montana’s Corrupt Practices Act. It led to the Montana Supreme Court defying the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling in upholding the state laws on campaign finance. We will also check in with Kevin Zeese of Occupy DC at Freedom Plaza about phase two the movement including the National Occupation of Washington DC scheduled to start on March 30th.

"What can we do about it?" That is the most pertinent question of the day. It's the first day of 2012. I don't know about you, but I have a lot on my mind: economy, erosion of our civil liberties, electoral politics, lessons from 2011, global unrest, etc. The biggest question on my mind is: How bad does it have to get before lawmakers put public interest above partisan or self interest?
