World War 2 Blamed for Disappointing Call of Duty Sales - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Call of Duty publisher, Activision Blizzard, is blaming the poor results of its most recent game on historic events of World War II lamenting that the latest game Call of Duty Vanguard World War II setting lacks "innovation". Recent earnings have shown the sales of last year's release, Call of Duty: Vanguard, missed the shareholder's mark by about $300 million dollars - and this lackluster reception is why the game's setting in World War II is blamed. Call of Duty: Vanguard was still the number one best-selling game of 2021 though sales were down 36% from 2020's Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. Warcraft Arclight Rumble was revealed by Activision Blizzard for iOS and Android. Warcraft Arclight Rumble invites players to build up an army of their favorite heroes and villains from the World of Warcraft universe and duke it out in a series of tactical-based battles. The game takes place in Azeroth where Warcraft Arclight Rumble players will collect miniatures of famous World of Warcraft characters and build forces to overcome frantic challenges. While Halo Infinite Season 2 Lone Wolves adds new maps, modes, a Battle Pass, and more, perhaps the least expected addition is the inclusion of Clippy, the 25-year-old Microsoft Office assistant. Clippy is seen as a new keyring or nameplate that players can attach to their guns which can be unlocked later in Halo Infinite Season 2 Lone Wolves. It's unclear how and when the Clippy cosmetics can be unlocked in Halo Infinite Season 2 Lone Wolves but they're definitely not part of the new Halo Infinite Season 2 Lone Wolves Battle Pass that itself comes with 100 tiers of basic and premium rewards.

Square Enix Just Sold Off a Treasure Trove Of Studios And Franchises - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Embracer Group has entered into an agreement to acquire Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, Square Enix Montréal, and a "catalog of IPs including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain, and more than 50 back-catalog games from Square Enix Holdings" for $300 million dollars. This news comes shortly after Crystal Dynamics announced it was developing a brand-new Tomb Raider game on Unreal Engine 5. Square Enix has shared some of its reasoning behind the decision to sell Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, and Square Enix Montréal to Embracer Group, saying the transaction will allow the company to invest more in the blockchain, AI, and the cloud. PlayStation is hiring a director of corporate development to help identify acquisition opportunities and bolster its collection of first-party studios. Sony is seeking someone with video game expertise and the candidate will not only help find and develop the initial opportunities but also align them with Sony's overall culture and work process to "drive significant long-term value for the company". Rudeism on Twitter has modded the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Game & Learn Controller to actually work on PC, and they even played Elden Ring with it. Rudeism shared footage of Elden Ring being played with the Fisher-Price toy, which he effectively turned into an Xbox controller. He also explained a bit about how he modded the controller while leaving many of the toy's original sounds intact. Narz has it all on Today's Daily Fix!

Spider-Man In Unreal Engine 5 Is a Sight to Behold - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

Today on IGN The Fix: Games, The Unreal Engine 5 Matrix Awakens demo was released last year to much praise and excitement. One modder has just taken it further. Rather than running through the streets as a character from the Matrix, you can swing through highly detailed city streets as Spider-Man, using a fan-made mod. Final Fantasy 16's producer Naoki Yoshida has said the game is in its final stages of development. Yoshida confirmed the progress in a pamphlet that accompanied the franchise's official clothing line, translated by Twitter user @aitaikimochi, saying "We're in the final stages of development for the numbered game in the series, Final Fantasy XVI." Microsoft has announced that in May 2022's Games with Gold are Yoku's Island Express, The Inner World - The Last Wind Monk, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, and Viva Piñata: Party Animals. As revealed on Xbox Wire, the four Games with Gold will be available to anyone with Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, with Yoku's Island Express and Hydro Thunder Hurricane available starting on May 1.

Xbox Showcase Announced: Here's What to Expect - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

Xbox and Bethesda have announced a showcase this June, right around the time E3 would normally happen, but if you haven't heard, E3 isn't happening this year. But that's ok, because Bethesda looks to have a pretty solid lineup of games to show off, including the Indiana Jones game, State of Decay 3, the Perfect Dark reboot, Avowed, and a ton more. In PlayStation news, Sony won't allow you to stack PS Plus memberships anymore, even if you legitimately bought a code. Recently, Sony announced current PS Plus and PS Now users will get bumped to the "premium" tier of the new PS Plus. Word got around real quick that you could stack current subscriptions in order to save money on the PS Plus premium tier, and it looks like Sony is trying to keep people from saving a buck. Not a good look. And speaking of PlayStation Plus, May's PS Plus games have been announced, and they will all be available May 3rd.

Is Dreamlight Valley Disney's Answer to Animal Crossing? - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

In today's episode of The Daily Fix, Disney has revealed Dreamlight Valley, a "life sim" featuring Disney and Pixar characters. Kinda seems like the Disney version of Nintendo's Animal Crossing, which could be very cool. What also could be very cool is a 2-hour trial of a game you might be interested in buying. PlayStation has reportedly mandated that every new game with an MSRP of $35 or more come with a 2-hour trial within a couple of months of that game's launch. Sony has not confirmed this, but it seems like the rule does not apply retroactively to already-released games. This could be bad news for smaller developers, though, as many indie games aren't that long and two hours could be a good chunk of the game they're trying to sell you. And speaking of small indie developers, Bethesda (that's a joke, they're obviously not an indie dev) has made the first two Elder Scrolls games free on Steam. Now you can play The Elder Scrolls: Arena and its sequel Daggerfall (still one of the largest games ever made in terms of virtual square miles) completely free if you don't already own it. It's your Daily Fix!

GTA 5 Next-Gen Patch Adds Highly-Requested Improvements - The Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

With a GTA 6 release date nowhere in sight, Rockstar has released a new patch for GTA 5 on next-gen consoles, adding quite a few tweaks to the game for PS5 and Series X and S owners. The official patch notes available on Rockstar’s website lists a number of improvements and fixes, such as a Motion Blur option slider to toggle the feature on and off, and shortened transitional time while in Story Mode in GTA Online. Moving on to Sony, PlayStation is starting a new team to keep those old IPs alive. PlayStation’s newly appointed Senior Build Engineer took to Twitter to express his excitement joining the company’s Preservation team. And finally, Netflix is getting into the gaming business with Netflix games releasing about 50 games by the end of 2022.

Xbox Hiring to Help It Find More Acquisitions - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

Today on IGN The Fix: Games, Xbox is hiring a new employee to help manage its merger and acquisitions programme - suggesting that there may well be more studio acquisitions in its future. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, Microsoft is seeking a Manager of Gaming Strategy and Development whose responsibilities will include, "Developing and evaluating the business case for content & technology acquisitions." It seems to indicate the company has no plans to slow down its purchasing of developers and other gaming companies. Game developers are upset over an Apple policy change that will see apps deleted if they've not been recently updated. On Twitter, Protopop Games (below) shared an email from Apple that said their app had not been updated in "a significant amount of time" and would therefore be deleted from the App Store. Diablo: Immortal is now coming to PC as well as mobile - and it will arrive for both platforms on June 2. The MMO was originally announced solely for Android and iOS, but Blizzard Entertainment revealed in a blog post that a PC port will be released in open beta alongside the mobile version.

Elden Ring's Malenia Battle Is Bugged And Terrifying - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, One of Elden Ring's toughest bosses, Malenia, Blade of Miquella, is now almost impossible to beat. A bug in Elden Ring's latest update, seemingly bugged Malenia allowing her to self-heal at any point of the fight and for no apparent reason. It's unclear what's triggering this bug in Elden Ring but users have hypothesized it only occurs in multiplayer and that lag is essentially causing Malenia to register hits that aren't registered by the players. Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries has revealed three new modes coming in Season 2: Lone Wolves. Headlined by the classic Halo mode King of the Hill, which arrives on May 3 alongside two brand new modes: Last Spartan Standing and Land Grab. King of the Hill dates back to the original Halo game in 2001 and, while players can recreate the original mode in Custom Games, the standard King of the Hill mode is returning to Halo Infinite with a twist. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga had the best LEGO game launch in history. Publisher Warner Bros. On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Sonic's retro remastered collection, Sonic Origins will be released on Sonic's birthday, June 23, 2022. Previously, owners of the controller needed a PS5 console to receive firmware updates.

Elden Ring's Newest Patch Beefs Up the Game's Biggest Weapons - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Elden Ring 1.04 update is released across all platforms today, and brings big changes for strength builds and magic users - not to mention adds new quest events for FromSoftware in-joke NPC, Patches. Elden Ring players who specialize in Colossal weapons or Sorcery/Incantations are going to be at an advantage thanks to Elden Ring Patch 1.04 released today. We expect some Elden Ring funny moments from Patches though details on the new event phases will require Elden Ring Players to visit Patches. The latest Elden Ring Patch 1.04 also nerds a popular way to beat the game's most difficult boss, Malenia, Blade of Miquella. Elden Ring legend Let Me Solo Her has now been modded into the game as an NPC summon. FromSoftware content creator Garden of Eyes has created a mod to add a "Puppet of the Legend '' spirit summon to Elden Ring, immortalizing Let Me Solo Her who went viral last week. Complete with its own artwork and flavor text, the Puppet of the Legend summon is an exact replica of Let Me Solo Her that's seemingly just as capable of taking down ultra-touch boss Malenia, Blade of Miquella. New players somewhat easily miss Elden Ring's tutorial, but apparently FromSoftware is aiming to change that with the Elden Ring Patch 1.04 which adds a tutorial prompt that explains, well, the tutorial. The Cave of Knowledge is located in the Stranded Graveyard at the beginning of Elden Ring and It can be accessed by dropping down a pit next to a spectral NPC in a chair, who hints at the tutorial below. No wonder Elden Ring players missed it, they must have thought it was another trap.

Portal 3: Series Co-Writer Wants Valve to Let Him Develop the Game - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

On today's Daily Fix, Erik Wolpaw, the co-writer of the Portal franchise really wants to make Portal 3, but there's a small indie company no one's ever heard of called Valve that kinda has the final say. But Wolpaw is down whenever Valve gives the word, he just wishes it's sooner rather than later. And speaking of Valve, a modder has, for years, been working on getting Krystal from Star Fox Adventures into Half-Life 2. Yes, you read that right. Modder Gagnetar has replaced the model-and now the voice-for Alyx in HL2 with Krystal and her original voice actor, Estelle Ellis. The full mod will be released later this year. And in Kingdom Hearts news, a Twitter user has tracked down where Sora lives in Tokyo, based on the images from the recent trailer. Sora must be loaded because according to Kingdom Hearts fan Audrey Lamsam, the luxury apartments he wakes up in is very, very expensive. Do you want Valve to make Portal 3? What other crazy Nintendo characters should modders add to Half-Life 2? Let us know in the comments!

No, Kojima Isn't Joining PlayStation - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

Hideo Kojima may have woken up and decided to troll the world this morning when he posted a tweet alluding to having joined PlayStation Studios. Hideo Kojima set the Twitter world ablaze when #HideoKojima posted a picture of the PlayStation Studios banner with games from all of Sony's First party studios including Death Stranding. The cryptic tweet sparked speculation that Kojima Productions may have officially joined #PlayStation Studios. In other video game news, Horizon Forbidden West's Creative Director says Guerilla Games is already set up for a sequel to the open-world game. Speaking with VG24/7, the creative director said that, just as Horizon: Zero Dawn set up the story for Forbidden West, seeds have been planted for the third game as well. Horizon Forbidden West ends with another big cliffhanger, apparently serving as a setup for the next installment to continue. And finally, IGN is teaming up with Rogue to create a new video game reality show with the grand prize winner getting a publishing deal with Rogue.

Is Call of Duty Teasing a Godzilla Invasion? - IGN Daily Fix | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

In today's IGN The Fix: Games, Call of Duty fans and intrepid internet sleuths have picked apart the latest trailer for Warzone and Vanguard Season 3. Somewhere in there is what sounds like...Godzilla? A Twitter user ran the sound through a fancy program and apparently the words 'MONSTERS ARE REAL' are spelled out in the audio file. Many others think the sound is a chopped-up Godzilla roar. If it's legit, Godzilla would be the biggest-literally-addition to Call of Duty: Warzone. In other news, Sony and Nintendo have agreed to make changes to their online subscription payments system, which should make it harder for you to accidentally renew. That's great, if you're like us and just don't pay attention to your subscription renewal dates and then they automatically renew and you're wondering where all your money goes every month. And finally, CD Projekt Red revealed some solid numbers for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Turns out, both of those have sold really well so far, and they probably won't stop selling. The Witcher 3 is set to get a next-gen update at some point in the future, and Cyberpunk 2077 is expecting its first DLC expansion next year.
