On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Microsoft has confirmed that "Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles" will not just be released on PlayStation to honor existing contracts, but "beyond the existing agreement and into the future." In a piece published to explain how the company will adapt to gain regulatory approval for its Activision Blizzard takeover, president Brad Smith addressed concerns that popular games would no longer be available on competing consoles: More than 60,000 Battlefield 2042 players have signed a petition asking for their money back, as the game continues to receive criticism for its slow update roll out and perceived lack of features. Eurogamer spotted the petition, which requested that refunds available on Steam be extended to PlayStation and Xbox customers, and said EA made "a mockery" of customers who purchased the game. Bandai Namco has made an official announcement recognizing the current technical difficulties with the Dark Souls games on PC and has said that it is now looking into Elden Ring ahead of launch to ensure the problem does not affect the new FromSoftware game. In a statement on Twitter, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware said that they are "aware of the technical difficulties players have experienced with the Dark Souls suite of games on PC", referring to the fact that servers are down after a "serious exploit" was discovered. On today's IGN The Fix: Games, After years of rumors and reports, Rockstar has confirmed it's working on a new Grand Theft Auto game, and said that it's "well underway".IGN reported that GTA 6 - if that is indeed what the game ends up being called - was in development back in 2020, but that it was a long way from release. Further reports pegged the game to arrive in 2024 or 2025. GTA 5 and GTA Online will be released as upgraded, native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions on March 15. After a delay last year, Rockstar has confirmed that the new-gen editions will arrive soon, bringing "new graphics modes with up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, texture and draw distance upgrades, HDR options, and ray-tracing". Twitter user Cary Golomb got his hands on a Steam Deck and showed side by side comparison on how Value Steam Deck fared in size with gaming's most iconic handheld gaming systems. Today on IGN The Fix: Games, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has described the launch issues that plagued last year's release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy as a 'glitch' that has since been 'resolved'. During a CNBC interview, Zelnick spoke about the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, where he appeared to draw a line under the issues that the collection of classic games suffered from across a number of consoles. "With regards to the GTA trilogy, that was actually not a new title," Zelnick stated when speaking about the game. "That was a remaster of preexisting titles. We did have a glitch in the beginning, that glitch was resolved." Students from Warsaw University in Poland have created a fully detailed, to-scale map of The Witcher universe's continent, and it's a doozy that shows off the scale of Geralt's adventures from Kaer Morhen to Skellige and beyond. The map reads a lot like any other professionally designed map, just you know, with fantasy cities and countries.
