The second round of the Scandinavian Regional Gaelic Football Championship took place on Saturday in Oslo Norway with three teams in the men’s football (no ladies in this round) taking to the field. Stockholm the holders of this Championship, since it’s inaugural outing three years ago, led the region after Round 1 in April with Oslo a close second and Gothenburg in third spot. All three lined out last Saturday for the Oslo Tournament, and here to fill us in on the action and bring us up to date on the latest news from Europe GAA, is PRO Brian Clerkin. Sunday proved to be a great day for the clubs of Cormac McAnallens, Michael Cusacks and Central Coast as the former carted off the mens and ladies football titles, Cusacks last minute scores denied rivals Shamrocks, while Coast’s camogie team and mens B footballers performed heroics. Charleston Hurling Club 2012 It seems that hardly a month passes before yet another new hurling club sprouts up in America. One of the latest arrivals to taste the lure of the ancient game is from the southeast coast city of Charleston in the state of South Carolina. Since late last year American Ryan Shrum and Irish native Brendan Dagg have been building a club one hurler at a time and this spring received a boost when, out of the blue, cadets at the local Citadel Military College decided it was time to join rank at Charleston HC. In the podcast the club’s two co-founders talk about the club’s beginnings, practice sessions, unique promotion efforts and on their first tournament participation recently at Charlotte, North Carolina.   36:39

This year’s pairings for the 2012 NSW league finals in Sydney have been decided with yesterday’s semi finals in men’s and ladies football throwing up surprises on a day that saw the Clan na Gael club make it into three finals. In the second of our Podcasts today we catch up on the latest from the 2012 Toronto Men’s Senior Football League. St. Mikes have been all dominant in the league to date and remain in pole postion at the head of the League Table with St. Vincents also going well in second, however Toronto Gaels after a slowish start,  put in good performances in winning their last two rounds to solidify third place. To find out how the Gael’s won their matches in Week 4 and 5 of the league, we hear from Toronto GAA Official Cathal McGee, who fills in for Ross McElhone who is away.   11:04   NOTE: NSW League from Sydney rained out last weekend. In last Thursday night’s Round 3 of the Vancouver Ladies Football League in British Columbia Canada, JP Ryans got a measure of revenge for a recent loss to the Harps in a newly structured competition format. While further north at Fort McMurray in the first round of the 2012 Alberta Cup, last year’s champs Edmonton do the business. In today’s podcast we get a run down on both competitions from Vancouver GAA official and former Western Canada GAA Chairman Ronan Deane. In the latter part of the podcast, Ronan fills us in on life in northerly Fort McMurray for the many Irish moving to the booming oil town. 16:00

Over the past two years the Dunedin Connelly’s Gaelic Football Club in Edinburgh  – the most honored title-wise of the five senior football clubs in Scotland – has initiated a youth development strategy at primary schools in order to sustain the club and Gaelic football into the future. Last Sunday at Brown Deer Park saw the first full schedule of games with five matches down for decision on a day that saw everyone battling the 90 degree-plus heat and humidity.
