Clint Eastwood, John Malkovich and Renee Russo tear up the screen in this Wolfgang Petersen thriller about Mitch Leary's assassination attempt against the president with one man standing in his way Agent Frank Horrigan. We revisited the 1986 aerial competition movie Top Gun starringTom Cruise as Maverick, Val Kilmer as Ice Man, Anthony Edwards as Goose, Kelly McGillis as Charlie, the list is full with huge names including an amazing performance from a young Meg Ryan. This week Sylvia picked Wes Craven's classic horror game changer A Nightmare On Elm Street. This film undoubtedly changed the way we looked at horror as a genre. Robert Englunds Freddy Kreuger has become synonomus  with nightmare and terror. This movie started out as another Halloween clone and quickly became it's own universe cut away from the slasher genre. While the acting is mid range to low there were some  standouts including Englunds performance, John Saxxons down to earth and real work as Nancy's father. Bob's pick this week is Robin Williams bizare musical depicting the iconic sailor man himself. This movie hows a lot going wrong for it but inexplicably turns out to be a whole lot of fun. Editors note: If your new to our show then don't listen to this one first. We had a ton of recording issues, we didn't even get to start recording until midnight. Dustin is fighting a cold and everyone is generally exhausted. Still turned out pretty good for what it was.

For our 50th episode we broke our self imposed ban on sequels. Rocky 2 Is the obvious choice for us as it retains most of the heart of the first film but with a bigger budget and directed by Sly himself. From a 1 million dollar budget to a 7 million dollar budget is a big jump but in hollyweird it's still not a lot for a blockbuster. While Sylvia may have been watching through the veil of nostalgia, Dustin and Bob had other ideas on how well this movie worked. We discuss the missed opportunity of a Bruce Wayne / Batman film starring Alec Baldwin. Peter Jackson's 1996 horror comedy may have been saddled with terrible marketing and incorrect release time along with early CGI being what it was but all that being said Michael J Fox pulls a great movie out of this one that many might have missed over the years.

This week was Dustin's pick, Jim Carrey's ADHD superhero The Mask had first class special effects and a young half proven and hungry lead alongside the 20 year old Cameron Diaz on her first film. The fun and cartoony adaption of the gritty Dark Horse comic by the same name was all it took for the great Siskel and Ebert to do an about face and fall in love with Jim Carrey after there double thumbs down for his performance in Ace Ventura Pet detective and cement Carrey as a legitimate actor.

Sylvia's pick this week Was the biggest movie of 1984 Ghostbusters, Starring Bill Murray Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and more! The brain child of Dan Akroyd, Ghostbusters went through multiple transformations before it was the film we remember and love to this day.
