It's been a while since we were at Municipal Brew Works, which means that there's a lot to talk about with them. First up is their upcoming bottle release of Long Slumber, a barrel aged Old Ale. We also wanted to get a little peek into how their place in an ever changing craft beer community has evolved as they've been open. If that's not enough, we'll also try to look into the future to see what's coming down the pike from this Hamilton, Ohio brewery!
Joined by our friends from the Have A Drink show, we worked our way through a flight of beer from Wooden Cask, we were hot off the heels of recording an episode of their show and ready to talk about all the things that make Wooden Cask so successful. Time seems frozen in a taproom that harkens back to a different time and place, and that seemed perfect for us.
I knew this was going to be a chaotic, hectic show. What else would it be when you decide to do a show during both the NKY Homebrewer’s guild’s Iron Mash contest as well as Braxton Lab’s release of their bottled Bourbon Barrel Aged Oatmeal Stout? Crazy? Yeah. Fun? A ton!
We tried to get a little bit geeky in this one... I was joined by Craft Beer Joe at the 2018 Jungle Jim’s Barrel Aged Beer Bash to talk about not just Cincinnati Beer, but barrel aged beer in general. We tried a couple things... talked about a couple things... grabbed some local voices to fill in the blanks - and had a barrel aged blast.
An impromptu studio show after a last minute cancellation means that the world is all right, with a new episode of the brewcast even during a holiday week! Garrett Hickey made sure that I wasn’t sitting alone talking to myself, and we cracked a few really great beers to make sure things didn’t get boring!
As a Christmas show, we might have come up a little short - but as a beer show... this one is pretty on point. Urban Artifact’s year has been packed full of releases, but the spontaneous fermentation project might be their most exciting to date. We talk to Scotty and Bret about the beer and what makes it so special. We also talk about the future, and where you go from here!
They don't want to be known only as "the gluten free brewery", but their business model creates quite a bit of curiosity. We sit down with Josh and Megan Laubach of Rolling Mill Brewing Company in Middletown, Ohio to see what exactly this whole thing's about! We talk not just about the whole gluten free "thing" - but also try to get a good idea of what you can expect when you step foot inside the RMBC taproom for the first time (which will hopefully be before the end of this year!)
How better to celebrate Paradise Brewing Company’s first ever bottle release (Their big Imperial Stout, called Wrath of the Tsar) than to show up in their remodeled taproom for a Brewcast? We talked all things Paradise, and even had some fun friends show up to chat too... of course, we drank a bit of the beer too.
I don't know if there is a better way to celebrate the life of Cincy Brewcast founder and dear friend Mike Cisneros. A collaboration beer between 7 local breweries, friends, family, podcasting, live music... the big guy would've loved it. It's not always easy carrying on in the footsteps of a guy like Mike, but when you go to events like this one and take a minute to remember who he was, it certainly makes things a lot easier. Mike was the epitome of what a craft beer fan should be - with him... you were family. This show, and every episode of Cincy Brewcast is for him.
It's been said that people on the west side just don't drink craft beer. We set out to show not only why that's wrong, but why they've now got a place that they can really be proud of. West Side Brewing is looking to do big things in their neighborhood of Westwood, and we were joined by Colin Foy, Joe Mumper, Jim Remmel, James Riley, and Kurtis Remmel to talk about how they plan on doing that! This week's episode is a good one!
This episode was recorded live in the taproom of one of Cincinnati’s newest craft breweries, 16 Lots. We talked to head brewer Jeff Cosgrove and “the marketing guy” Mike Burton. We got a great glimpse into what makes this brewery work, including why they brew the beers they do, and the big question of “how big is too big” in a busy craft beer scene like Cincinnati.
It doesn’t matter how you pronounce it, Bircus is unique. They are brewing beer in Ludlow, with the plans to open their very own Circus/Brewery Taproom that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. We joined owner Paul Miller, Head Brewer Sean Gregor and their sort of “Jack of All Trades” Ryan Fardo to talk all things Bircus – as well as try some of their beer. It quickly becomes evident that Bircus is a really unique place in the Cincinnati Craft Beer scene. It’s Showtime, folks! We joined owner Paul Miller, Head Brewer Sean Gregor and their “man of many trades” Ryan Fardo to chat about what makes this place unique – I mean… other than the fact that they are going to operating a brewery that is coupled up with a circus. We touched on the history of the idea, and how exactly they plan to make it all work. Of course… it wouldn’t be a proper show if we didn’t drink a few beers too! The show proves one thing for sure – Bircus is unlike any other brewery that I’ve been to, and they are looking to do something that is more than unique… it’s groundbreaking. This looks like it’s going to be the type of place that you not only have to go to, but you’re going to want to tell all your friends about as well. Guests This Episode * Paul Miller – Owner, Chief Goof Officer* Sean Gregor – Head Brewer* Ryan Fardo – “Man of Many Trades” From The Beer Fridge * Bircus – Alta Via Altbier* Bircus – Comic Walrus* Bircus – Lagoon* Bircus – Miss Patterson* Bircus – Showman* Bircus – The Breaded Lady* Bircus – Atilla The Plum
It seems like every time we get to talk to Andy Reynolds from Alexandria Brewing Company he's a little bit closer to having a brewery. This episode is a big step with us joining him from inside the space that is becoming the new brewery and taproom. We were joined by Brad Martin (also from ABC) and Jake Heeb from a local hop farm (down the street from ABC) called Hops Springs Farm - we talked about what's going on in the process for Alexandria Brewing, we talked about starting a hop farm, we talked about the often turbulent craft beer community - and maybe most importantly... we drank a few beers and had fun!
From the time they first put Where’s Barb? (Their Imperial Stout) into bourbon barrels, Streetside Brewing has been building up to this point. The Brewcast joined Garret Hickey and Luke Shropshire to talk about where they’ve come from in the last year, as well as where they’re going in the years coming. We tried some of the incredible beer tappings that they featured during their event, of course, all for an action packed adventure in Cincinnati Craft Beer.
It's been a while... but we're back! Jason Brewer, Dan Listermann, and later Jared Lewinski (all from Cincinnati Ohio's Listermann Brewing Company) join me and my guest co-host Chris Walker from the 'Have a Drink' show to talk about what's been happening with Listermann! The brewery looks like a completely different place since we were last there - and things seem to keep changing for the better. We'll figure out where they go next, and what's up with all these NE IPAs?
