Summary: Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take control of her health and weight. The last 3-4 years has been a journey into the world of Fasting and Fat Loss which has not only seen my sister finally see progress, but also allowed me to come across a number of amazing people and life changing stories. I want this podcast to be a place where I can share what I have learnt over this time as a way to help introduce you into fasting and see you take control of your Health, Happiness and Weight. I will also aim to have a number of guests on this show, both professionals and people who have lost weight and changed their life through Fasting as a way to expand the conversation and learn from the best in the industry and ordinary people who have found great success through the Fasting Life. I wrote an email to my email list last week and it had the title, "Success Leaves Clues" and it was one of the most positively responded to emails that I have written and so I thought, why not give a little more context and detail to that email by creating a podcast around the same topic. I have been helping people change their habits, improve their health and live better lives for over 15 years and while I certainly don't have all of the answers, I have noticed a common theme amongst the clients that achieve their goals compared to those who don't. I have spent in excess of 20,000 hours face to face with clients (both online and in person at my clinic) and I would like to share with you the top 5 traits or actions that my most successful clients exhibit. Success comes in many forms and can range from finding balance in life to spend more time with family to running an internationally successful company to losing weight or focusing on running a marathon. Those clients I have seen find most success and have achieved their goals, don't always have all 5 traits and I am not suggesting that if you tick off all 5 of these that it is a recipe for success. HOWEVER, success leaves clues and if you have been struggling to find success on your fat loss journey, within your career or life in general and can't put a yes next to some or all of the points I mention in this podcast, then it might be time to take a look at what you are doing on a day to day basis and maybe look to make a change. There were a number of goals I set out to achieve this year, both professionally and personally. One BIG push I wanted to make, was to put more of an effort into my running and to lay some serious foundations that would help set me up to become a much more efficient, stronger and overall FASTER runner. One of the BIG goals was to run 1000km in a year. This past week, 3 months earlier than anticipated, I was able to tick off that big goal and complete my 1000th km. Diabetes is a term that gets thrown around these days and many people are unaware that there are two type of Diabetes and that they are both VERY different. The cost to the health care system, the person with Type 2 Diabetes and their family is HUGE and with the confusion around how to manage it and a lot of doctors having no idea what to do or are incentivised to just give medications, the problem continues to get worse. Type 2 Diabetes is (in most part) a lifestyle condition and so it makes sense that a lifestyle intervention is what will help reverse it and cure it... and YES, you CAN reverse it!!! 3 Years ago I spoke to Endurance Adventurer and Storyteller John Horsfall and I wanted to bring that chat to all of you as John shares an INCREDIBLE story in that chat. John has achieved a number of truly amazing feats in his life ranging from running 1200km from Uganda to the Coast of Kenya, solo and self supported to his current adventure of trying to cycle from London to Asia with NO MONEY! This was an incredible chat and I was inspired, in awe and just amazed at what a human can achieve should they put their mind to something and just go for it. This chat took place about 30 days into John's trip where he has found a little cafe in Croatia that had wifi and was happy for him to use it so we could chat via Skype. No professional studio set up here as you can here the cafe in the background as well as the surrounding peoples conversations, however, I felt it was a perfect setting for the philosophy that John talks about in this episode.
