Let's Talk Fast

Summary: Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take control of her health and weight. The last 3-4 years has been a journey into the world of Fasting and Fat Loss which has not only seen my sister finally see progress, but also allowed me to come across a number of amazing people and life changing stories. I want this podcast to be a place where I can share what I have learnt over this time as a way to help introduce you into fasting and see you take control of your Health, Happiness and Weight. I will also aim to have a number of guests on this show, both professionals and people who have lost weight and changed their life through Fasting as a way to expand the conversation and learn from the best in the industry and ordinary people who have found great success through the Fasting Life. I hope you enjoy the content and it helps to spark questions and see you finally take control of your Weight once and for all to see you live a Happy, Healthy and LONG Life.

We Are Leaving Melbourne! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:34:56

The title of the podcast likely gives you a very good idea on what it is about, but it is fair to say that I won't be talking about fat loss, calories, protein or anything to do with fasting this week. Amy just found out that she has gotten a new job and it means we are packing up our lives and leaving Melbourne. While it's been a REALLY tough year and this TERRIBLE COVID virus has ruined lives, businesses and economies around the world, for our family, it has been a blessing in disguise. I have been able to move most of my business online which has given me the flexibility to do it from anywhere in the world and allowed Amy to entertain the thought of getting back into the Geology and Mining field that she loves soo very much. We thought we would share this moment in time by talking about what the job is, where we will be moving to and what we believe it will mean for our little family of 4 plus the dog. Should it be of interest to you and you want to find out more, click that link below, have a listen and let us know what you think! Whatever happens, we are excited for the change and can not wait to document the journey and bring you along for that ride!  Fat Burning Zone... Fact or Myth?? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:32:24

A common thing to hear around gyms or running circles many years ago and still to this day (albeit far less common these days), is this idea around a magical "Fat Burning Zone". The body has a number of energy systems that it draws on to help fuel your body during everyday movement, as well as intentional exercise. At lower intensities, the body has more time to process its fuel and shuttle it to the working muscles and it was this that "fueled" (pardon the pun) the idea that telling people to work at lower intensities would help to see them lose more fat during their workouts and exercise. In this weeks episode we talk in more detail about this idea and whether there is any truth to it or if it is a complete myth and what you can do to tailor your exercise to best suit your goals. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me and then DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE to make sure you never miss an episode!!! On this week's episode of the Let's Talk Fast podcast, I had the opportunity to speak with personal trainer and business owner of Gript gym, Drew Westfield.  Talking Eating Disorders, Body Image and Self-Love with Nicole Renard | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:43:26

Nicole Renard grew up as a competitive dancer with the hopes to become a Broadway star and spent most of her childhood years and life in this world, training 10-20 hours a week and becoming immersed in a world that would judge her on the way she looked and how she performed. Her older sister was also a dancer and was someone that Nicole looked up to and always wanted to emulate. Nicole's sister then shared with the family that she had been dealing with an eating disorder and this rocked Nicole's world and in the years that followed, Nicole found herself feeling alone and a need to hide her own struggles with body image, self-love and a want to always be "perfect" After a year living in New Zealand and having to fit in with a bunch of new people that had no idea who she was and make friends with these people, she realised that acceptance from these people came about because of the person she was, not for what she had done or achieved in her life. This stirred a passion in Nicole to share her story with the world and open up with her struggles with body image, eating disorders and feelings of worth and today she is an energetic and fun human being who uses her platform to spread a message of hope, positivity and self-love and I really hope you enjoy this week's podcast and the gold nuggets you will find within our chat. Episode 100 is HERE!!! I speak to a long time client, friend, business mentor and person who likely knows me better than I know myself and what I thought was going to be a conversation about the world we know and how it has changed since I had Patrick on my very FIRST podcast in June of 2017, turned into Patrick turning it into an interview on me!  5 Traits That The Most Successful People Have | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:32:12

I wrote an email to my email list last week and it had the title, "Success Leaves Clues" and it was one of the most positively responded to emails that I have written and so I thought, why not give a little more context and detail to that email by creating a podcast around the same topic. I have been helping people change their habits, improve their health and live better lives for over 15 years and while I certainly don't have all of the answers, I have noticed a common theme amongst the clients that achieve their goals compared to those who don't. I have spent in excess of 20,000 hours face to face with clients (both online and in person at my clinic) and I would like to share with you the top 5 traits or actions that my most successful clients exhibit. Success comes in many forms and can range from finding balance in life to spend more time with family to running an internationally successful company to losing weight or focusing on running a marathon. Those clients I have seen find most success and have achieved their goals, don't always have all 5 traits and I am not suggesting that if you tick off all 5 of these that it is a recipe for success. HOWEVER, success leaves clues and if you have been struggling to find success on your fat loss journey, within your career or life in general and can't put a yes next to some or all of the points I mention in this podcast, then it might be time to take a look at what you are doing on a day to day basis and maybe look to make a change. I hope you enjoy this weeks podcast and as always I hope it brings value to you and your life. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me and then DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE to make sure you never miss an episode!!!  How To Reverse Type 2 Diabetes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:53:50

Diabetes is a term that gets thrown around these days and many people are unaware that there are two type of Diabetes and that they are both VERY different. In this weeks podcast, my aim is to not only shed light on what Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are, how they differ from each other and how an individual with either of them can manage them best, but to also give a clear understanding on just how big of a problem Type 2 Diabetes is in our society today. Type 2 Diabetes has become a health problem on a world wide epidemic level and this has become even more evident with COVID disproportionately affecting those with Type 2 Diabetes. The cost to the health care system, the person with Type 2 Diabetes and their family is HUGE and with the confusion around how to manage it and a lot of doctors having no idea what to do or are incentivised to just give medications, the problem continues to get worse. Type 2 Diabetes is (in most part) a lifestyle condition and so it makes sense that a lifestyle intervention is what will help reverse it and cure it... and YES, you CAN reverse it!!! In this podcast I will share with you the way in which I have helped hundreds of people over my 15 year career, reverse their Type 2 Diabetes, get off all medications and do it while enjoying the foods they love, INCLUDING CARBS!! I hope you enjoy this weeks episode and it helps to bring you value on the journey you are on and should you have Type 2 Diabetes, I hope it helps you take a meanigful step forwards in seeing you reverse this condition. If you did like the episode, it would mean the world to me if you could leave a positive comment and 5 star review as it goes a LONG way to help me share my podcast to more people around the world.
