Summary: Having run a successful Exercise Physiology clinic for over 12 years, I have seen countless fads and trends come along in this time. After a call from my mother in 2015 pleading to help my sister, her health and her bulging waistline, I set out to find a method that would finally see her take control of her health and weight. The last 3-4 years has been a journey into the world of Fasting and Fat Loss which has not only seen my sister finally see progress, but also allowed me to come across a number of amazing people and life changing stories. I want this podcast to be a place where I can share what I have learnt over this time as a way to help introduce you into fasting and see you take control of your Health, Happiness and Weight. I will also aim to have a number of guests on this show, both professionals and people who have lost weight and changed their life through Fasting as a way to expand the conversation and learn from the best in the industry and ordinary people who have found great success through the Fasting Life. It comes as a surprise to many that while I may have written a best selling book, I have NEVER read a book in my life. I actually really dislike reading and it stems from the fact that I talk SOOO much in my line of work that when I read, I hear my voice narrating the story and I can't stand hearing my voice after listening to it all day. With my move to Perth taking a left turn with a need to now isolate for the next 14 days and having to deal with the ramifications that brings with it, I thought I would go into the vault to bring out an episode from July of 2017. In this episode I spoke to Olivia Wells, who at the time was a 4th year medical student at Monash University, Former Miss Universe Australia (2013) and current mentor for the Miss Universe Australia program. She was also an Ambassador for The Robert Connor Dawes Foundation, The OTIS Foundation and board member for Blue Ribbon Foundation Blue Ribbon Day Olivia was and still is, an INCREDIBLY busy individual and so I want to again thank her for taking the time to talk to me back then and for the great conversation. In that chat we spoke with Olivia to discus her journey from starting out as a young up and coming swimmer to winning the Miss Universe competition and now completing her medical degree. Olivia is a fascinating women and someone that I have had the pleasure to have known for many years and watch grow into the passionate and inspiring women she is today. From her early days as a high level age group swimmer, she has learnt that hard work can help you achieve what you set out to do and this philosophy now see's her in her final year of medical school (has since completed) and looking to work in the field of paediatric brain tumour research. This all took a slight left turn when in her final year of high school, as a joke, she filled out the form to enter the Miss Universe Australia pageant. To her surprise she was selected to move onto the qualifying rounds and would see her go on to win the entire event. She has used this time in the spotlight to further her ambitions to help underprivileged children in developing countries who suffer from disabilities that would otherwise be easy fixes if they had been born in the developed world. It was a fascinating talk and I thoroughly enjoyed my time talking with Olivia and would like to thank her for her time and for sitting down with me to discuss her life to date.
