BSP: Believer Skeptic Podcast

Summary: BSP: Believer Skeptic Podcast is a podcast where two idiots debate the Belief and Skepticism of different phenomena. They will cover topics that fall under different categories such as cryptozoology, the supernatural, spiritualism and more. While sipping Booze or Spirits one host will state the reason he or other people Believe in the chosen topic and the other host will state the reason he or other people are Skeptics. There will be a lot of fun, humor, and sometimes some insightful information (as much as two idiots can provide). Each episode will end with a segment called BS Weekly, in which the hosts each cover one current event or newstory that is scary, interesting, or just plain weird. They are always looking for new topics to cover, so if you have an idea for a future episode, message them, Tweet them, or email them. Happy listening! *Episodes may contain some colorful language, listener discretion is advised.

 BSP Live – Mass Hysteria | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:53

We told you we had some surprises in store! This week, BSP drops the Livestream episode we did for Pride48. In it, we talk mass hysteria, a phenomena that sounds straightforward, but in reality, is crazy bizarre. For example, Cody’s first story is about an epidemic of meowing and biting nuns (you read that right). After that, Chris talks about the Dancing Plague of 1518. Cody then takes us to India, where he discusses cosmic face scratchers. After that, Chris tells a very weird story about genital retraction, and then finishes up with the infamous case of the toxic Gloria Ramirez. Drinks/food in this episode are Coke and Mixed Nuts. Dun dun dunnnnn. In Cody's story, he tells of a supposed pit to hell created for St. Patrick on an island in Ireland. Chris then talks about the Devils' footprints that appeared in a small town in England. Next, Brock entices us with his story about the Devil's Tramping Grounds, a place where nothing grows.  Minisode 30 – Pride Paranormal 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:50

This is the second minisode of LGTBQ Pride Month. In it, Chris and Cody have two stories related to Pride and all things, um, prideful. First, Chris talks about one of the most important historical events in LGTQ history: The Stonewall Riots (it’s the reason Pride is celebrated). Cody’s story is all about the supposed gayness that is Walt Whitman. It also has a paranormal aspect, as Whitman asked for his tomb to be left unsealed. Also, don’t forget to join us this week for Pride 48's Live Stream on June 22nd at 5PM EST!

 Episode 47 – My Friend Tulpa | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:01

In this episode, Cody and Chris touch upon a mind-blowing (so to speak) topic they were both unfamiliar with: tulpas, or imaginary friends that come to life. First, Cody tells about an interesting theory called The Tulpa Effect, that could potentially have spawned Bigfoot, Nessie, and even Slenderman. In Chris’ first story, he tells about a person’s tulpa who shows up in the creepiest of places. Cody then shares the fascinating and scary tale of Olivia Mabel, whose grief may have spawned a tulpa of her son. Chris’s second story has to do with a tulpa that the person thought was never created. BS Weekly tells us why imaginary friends are a good thing. This week’s drinks are Neuro Sleep Tangerine Dream and Tibetan Butter Tea.  Minisode 29 – Pride Paranormal 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:26

Happy Pride! So things are a little bit different this week. Usually our minisodes give a clue to our upcoming episode, but because June is Pride Month, we thought we would dedicate our minisodes to the LGBTQ community! In this first minisode in Pride month, we cover two very different historic figures with a paranormal twist. First Chris talks about Jesse Shepard (AKA Francis Grierson) who was a prolific musician, spiritual oddball, and alleged homosexual (among other things). In Cody’s story, he talks about activist Harvey Milk, who may or may not still haunt San Francisco’s Castro District.

 Episode 46 – B.E.K. And Call | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:24

In this episode, Chris and Cody talk about the creepiest youth ever - Black Eyed Kids, the children you definitely don't want to invite inside. First, Cody talks about a terrified guy in Nevada/Utah who resorted to hitting a black eyed child with his car. Then, Chris tells the best story EVER, about a couple who invite black eyed kids into their home...and regret it forever. Next, Cody shares a story in the same Nevada/Utah area. But stuff gets real in this one when the victim stabs his black eyed assailants. Finally, Chris branches outside the U.S. with a B.E.K. sighting in jolly England. BS Weekly is about a different type of black eye, this one caused by a cat. This weeks drinks are Double Black cab and Barclay's Peanut Butter Cup Stout.  Minisode 28 – Child’s Play | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:59

This minisode has some pretty icky stuff, so a trigger warning in advance! It's all about children who did some really dastardly deeds. First, Chris talks about Mary Bell, a young girl who was into murder and mutilation. Then, Cody talks about Amarjeet Sada, perhaps India's youngest serial killer. He was only 8. Yep. See if you can guess next week's paranormal (and less gruesome) episode from this minisode.

 Episode 45 – Pacific Paranormal | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:51

In this episode, Chris and Cody and are joined by Pacific Northwest dweller, Derrick - host of the Rolling Misadventures podcast - to talk about, well, the Pacific Northwest. The area may seem all peaceful and full of coffee and hippies, but some crazy paranormal stuff happens there. First, Cody talks about Mel's hole, a nonsexual place where discarded animals come back to life. Then, Derrick shares the tale of the mythical Thunderbird, a creature whose wingspan ranges from 1 inch to a billion feet. Finally, Chris shares two stores, one of the Ogopogo lake monster and the other of a mummy who attacks cars. Instead of BS Weekly, we engage Derrick in a game of Batsquatch or Sasquatch. This weeks drinks are Yeti Stout and Yeti Stout (for reals).  Minisode 27 – Bat Out Of Hell | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:27

The clues in this minisode for the next episode are pretty far fetched, so good luck guessing! First, Chris talks about a creepy place in a cemetery called the 13 Steps to Hell, named because the legend says they will lead you there. Next, you've heard of Sasquatch, but have you heard of Batsquatch? Cody tells us all about one of the weirdest cryptids around!

Episode 44- Blame It On Lorraine | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:16

In this episode, Cody and Chris pay tribute to the late Ed and Lorraine Warren (RIP), the paranormal investigators responsible for the Conjuring movies (among others). In Chris’ first story, he tells of everyone’s favorite creepy ass doll, Annabelle. Cody then talks about the Perron family (no relation to Evita) who was the inspiration for The Conjuring and maybe The Babysitter’s Club. Chris’ second story is a little less known and is about Ed and Lorraine’s involvement in a diabolical - and possessed - true crime case. BS Weekly tells of strange human specimens found under a hotel. This weeks drinks are Vintage Crush Moscato and Instigator Red Blend.  Minisode 26 – Gays and Dolls | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:25

Creepiness abound! In this minisode, Cody and Chris tell two very different stories that both hint at next week’s topic. First, Chris tells (another) an overly descriptive Creepy Pasta story involving a doll that sits up on its own . . . and kills! Cody then talks about a falsely accused murdering witch closely related to our upcoming episode (don’t you dare look her up!).

 Episode 43 – Chupacabro | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 51:13

In this episode, Cody and Chris are joined by LGBTQ paranormal/horror enthusiast, R.L. Terry to talk about Chupacabra, a famous southern cryptid. After an informative history, Cody talks about Chupacabra sightings in Texas and discusses a couple who actually kept one as a pet (and fed it cat food). R.L. then talks about the Chupacabra sightings in his home state of Florida. Then, Chris shares a man's creepily descriptive encounter with a creature that had spirit fingers on its back. R.L. finishes the stories off with a real newspaper article from Miami about people accusing the Chupacabra of animal murder. After our normal believer/skeptic, we end the episode by playing the game Chupacabra or Chewbacca. Drinks this week are Space Goat and Dogfish Head Ale.  Minisode 25 – The Great Cryptid Caper | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:31

This week’s minisode topic is a lot less conspicuous than usual! Cody starts us off by telling us about a ridiculous cryptid that comes from the Fort Worth, TX area. Its photograph proves that puffs of smoke exist! Next, Chris tells of a creature of unknown origin that has red eyes and seems to track people who are high af. Can’t get more mysterious than that! If you can guess our topic, the winner will get something sent to them. So send your responses to @BSPodPhx on Twitter or Instagram!

 Episode 42 – My Other Me | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:04

In this episode, Cody and Chris are inspired by the film Us and talk about doppelgӓngers. After some drinks and a fun history, Cody talks about the famous French author Guy de Maupassant and his interesting encounter with himself. Chris then tells about Emilee Sagee, the teacher who had a very hard time keeping a job because her students saw her everywhere...at the same time. Cody’s second story is about Sister Jesus Maria de Agreda, her potential bilocation (being in two places at once) and incorruptability (throwback to episode 7!). Finally, Chris talks about the broodiest of poets, Percy B. Shelley and how his self-encounter might have foretold his death. BS weekly is about Peter Dinklage’s “brother” from another (Pakistani) mother. Drinks this week are Red Vin Sweet Red and two boxes of Liberty Creek Sweet Red (reaching much?).
