Born To Die - a talk by Sheikh Yasir Qadhi. It's a frightening title isn't it? But there really is nothing to be frightened about. Certainly not once you've listened and absorbed the information imparted to you. Despite what the movies portray, there is no immortality on this Earth. All that breathes must leave but what you need to know and then constantly be in a state of remembrance is that YOU are in control of what you leave behind - family, deeds, legacies. Do you plan to leave an everlasting legacy like that of Imam Bukhari whose writings are referenced daily till today? Imagine for a moment that you are leaving behind a legacy that continues, in fact persists in reaping rewards for you even after you've left this earthly abode. Wouldn't that be fantastic? Then comes the next question-are we required in Islam to leave legacies? If yes, then what types of legacies do we leave? The answers, explanations and proof to support all this and more is addressed by Sheikh Yasir Qadhi in this profound talk Born To Die.

The Fruits Of Belief In Qadr In todayâs Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a reminder concerning the reasons why we believe in Qadr, including some of the benefits of believing in Qadr. The belief in Qadr is based on 2 premises: Allah(SWT) is in control of everything Nothing happens without Allahâs knowledge/will and determination The belief that Allah(SWT) is the All-Wise Allah(SWT) decrees whatever is best So when you know that Allah(SWT) is in control and in charge, and then you know that He is merciful, loving and caring, those 2 pillars put together, should bring about the true fruits of believing in Qadr! In the end, Whatever Allah decrees is best and also just. We trust Allahâs power because He is the most merciful, so our hope increases in Allah(SWT). June 22nd 2017/27th Ramadan 1438
Laylat-Al-Qadr & Predestination In todayâs Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a reminder about Laylatul-Qadr. Laylatul-Qadr is referenced in the Qurâan twice explicitly. First it is mentioned in Surah Al-Qadr, and the second Surah where it is mentioned in is Surah Ad-Dukhan. âBy the clear Book, Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. On that night is made distinct every precise matter. [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowingâ {44: 2-6} In these verses, Allah(SWT) describes Laylatul-Qadr in a way that is not found anywhere else in the Qurâan. On this blessed night, every single matter shall be decided and the announcements are made. Indeed Allah is the All-Knowing! June 21st 2017/26th Ramadan 1438
In this lecture, Sh. Dr. Yasir Qadhi discusses some of the blessings and virtues of being patient in times of hardship, difficulties and trials. Presented during Ramadan on June 9, 2017 @ Memphis Islamic Center
Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers an exceptional reminder about Surah Yasin. It is known as âThe Heart of the Qurâanâ as the Prophet(SAW) said! The Prophet(SAW) also reminded us that Surah Yasin should be recited over the dead. One of the main themes of Surah Yasin is the importance of time. Allah (SWT) says: âExalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.â Of the signs of Allahâs power, is the night and the day. The day is stripped away so that the night comes, and we are left in darkness. Even the sun rotates in a pre-ordained orbit, showing the power of Allah (SWT)! June 20th 2017/25th Ramadan 1438
In today's Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers an important reminder about Verse 63, from Surah Al-Furqan. âAnd the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace,â {25:63} The believers are peaceful. Indeed they are successful, those who are humble in their prayers, and those who turn away from vain talk. Turning away from such actions are key characteristic of the righteous and the believers. Their tongues do not get involved in that which will bring harm or in that which is of no use to them. The Prophet(SAW) said: âWhoever guarantees me two things, I guarantee him paradiseâ June 19th 2017/24th Ramadan 1438
In today's Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a valuable reminder about The Neglected Prayer, Tahajjud. Allah(SWT) says in the Qurâan: âAnd from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.â {Surah Al Isra, Verse 79} Do we know the actual concept/importance of Tahajjud and Qiyaam Al Layl? Even the Prophet(SAW) was encouraged to pray Tahajjud as the second revelation of the Qurâan came down. June 15th 2017/20th Ramadan 1438
In today's Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a reminder about one of the primary pillars of Islam, which is Zakat. He also provides a number of blessings and dangers of Zakat. The word Zakat linguistically has two meanings, to purify and to grow. Allah(SWT) has commanded us more that 70 times in the Qurâan to give Zakat. By giving Zakat, one is not only purifying, but also growing that same wealth at the same time. June 14th 2017/19th Ramadan 1438
In today's Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a reminder about Verse 57 & 58, from Surah Yunus. Allah (SWT) says: âO mankind, there has to come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers. Say, "In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy - in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate." {10: 57-58} Allah has sent down the Qurâan, and it is a means of cleansing, purifying and cleaning the diseases of the heart, and a guidance to tell us from truth to falsehood, from right to wrong, and a mercy for all the believers. June 9th 2017/14th Ramadan 1438
Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a reminder about Verse 51, from Surah At-Tawba. Allah (SWT) says: âSay, "Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector." And upon Allah let the believers rely.â This verse talks about the reality of the relationship between the servant and the creator. It also talks about the very essential, Quranic concept of Tawakkul, of putting oneâs trust in Allah(SWT), including the primary benefit of Tawakkul. June 8th 2017/13th Ramadan 1438
In today's Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a reminder about Verse 63, from Surah Al Anfal, where Allah (SWT) mentions one of his blessings/miracles. Allah (SWT) say: âAnd brought together their hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together; but Allah brought them together. Indeed, He is Exalted in Might and Wise.â Allah has commanded us to try our best to form bonds of brotherhood/sisterhood. If you happen to have broken ties, reconcile the bonds between you, especially in this special month of Ramadan. June 7th 2017/12th Ramadan 1438
Part 11 - Commanding The Good And Forbidding The Evil In today's Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a reminder about Verses 163 & 164 from Surah Al-Aâraf. In these Ayahs, we read a story about a group of people who were committing sins while another group tried to advise them. And ask them about the town that was by the sea - when they transgressed in [the matter of] the sabbath - when their fish came to them openly on their sabbath day, and the day they had no sabbath they did not come to them. Thus did We give them trial because they were defiantly disobedient. And when a community among them said, "Why do you advise [or warn] a people whom Allah is [about] to destroy or to punish with a severe punishment?" they [the advisors] said, "To be absolved before your Lord and perhaps they may fear Him." {7: 163-164} June 6th 2017/11th Ramadan 1438
Part 10 - Purpose & Wisdom Behind Quranic Stories In today's Khatirah, Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi delivers a reminder about The Wisdom of Quranic Stories, mainly focused on Surah Al Aâraf. It is the longest Surah in the Qurâan where its primary focus is nothing but stories. Eight Prophets are mentioned in explicit details one after the other. Allah (SWT) says, The Quranic Stories are the best of Stories, and they are indeed true stories! June 5th 2017/10th Ramadan 1438
