FL 179 – We help Misty grow her online business by doing more purchase order driven sales transactions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:29

Want to know more about purchase order sales? Purchase order driven sales might be a way to grow your online business. Let's listen in and learn from today's episode. Our guest today is a good friend of ours, FYL community member and School Counselor. We have the ever Passionate Action Taker, Misty. Misty is a school counselor in one of the districts in southeastern Kentucky. She is married and is a mother to 2 lovely girls, aged 4 and 6. Wanting to spend more time with her family, she tried doing several business ventures, but found it too exhausting to juggle her side hustle, family, and career. Shifting to online business After listening to our podcasts, she decided that she wanted her family to experience amazing can’t miss moments too, and invested in herself and joined our online community. By 2016, she had learned how to use Canva to create content and sold her first digital product on a third party market. She felt more and more empowered because of her new found sense of creativity. After creating enough content and proving her credibility, she went on to launch her website where she can showcase her skills and expertise, School Counselor World. Here, she provides community support and digital resources to fellow school counselors, helping them fulfill the variety of roles you didn’t know school counselors were expected to fill. She now has a thriving community of 30+ paying members, tons of thoughtfully organized content, and over 4,000 email subscribers. Her numbers are growing steadily, but how will she 5x or 10x this? Join us as we dive deep on purchase order sales strategies, your business’ potential growth from conducting more B2B type transactions and why success is just a matter of finding the time to take consistent action. The weather’s a little crazy, but we’re here to take even bigger, crazier next steps to flip Misty’s business and maybe your online business to the next level. Don’t miss it!  Our Secret Weapon for Online Business Success | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:42

Live events are our secret weapon! We’ve made it this far because of the conscious effort we put into the choices we make.  Some choices have bigger impacts on your life and business than others. Today we’ll share with you our secret weapons for online success. This is the single choice we made that helped us grow exponentially as husband and wife, as business partners and as entrepreneurs in general.  What's our secret weapon? Choosing to invest in ourselves and attend live events! Attending live events has been the single biggest game changer in our online business.   There’s something about going to a live event that takes everything in your business to the next level. Being surrounded by entrepreneurs of every level is a huge opportunity far too good to pass up. WHY? Everyone who goes to a live event is serious about their business. No one is messing around. Everyone is there to work and make the right connections that will help transform their business in the future. We would not be where we are today, if we had not gone to those live events early in our journey. The revelations you get by meeting the mind (or minds) behind the content, behind the business, will blow you away! [Tweet "Attending live events has been the single biggest difference maker in our online business." - Jocelyn"] Now that we got your attention with the perks, here are some tips and tricks to get you LIVE event ready! How to Choose The Right Event For You AND Get The Most Out of It: * “WHO IS LEADING THE GROUP?” You should trust the person leading you to your next step. Make sure you do your research and learn about who is hosting the event, what they value, the purpose of the event and if they have the content you need to start or grow your online business. * “WHO IS GOING?” Take time to consider the size of the event. A smaller event gives a more personalized experience that lets you connect with others on a deeper level. There’s less clutter, less noise, less competition for everyone’s attention, so the opportunity to build relationships with your fellow entrepreneurs is greater. This also makes asking your questions and finding the right answers even easier. Remember: You’re not there just for the content. Go connect, build and strengthen relationships with your fellow participants, doing so will make a huge difference to your business in the future. * “WHAT ARE YOUR PRIORITIES VS THE REWARDS?” Invest in yourself and your business. We know how difficult it is for people to do this, but you must work on making a commitment to believe and invest in yourself and your business because the rewards are going to be bigger when you do. Overcome challenges and remove obstacles. Being a parent makes this even more complicated since there’s going to be some guilt sinking in, “What will happen to the kids while I’m away?” But what if by attending this live event, your business takes off and in turn, it significantly makes your family’s life better, would you now be willing to invest time, effort and money? You have to be ready to do whatever it takes to get to the next level and make that a priority. Are you investing your time, money and energy in a way that saves, frees up and generate you MORE time, money and energy? If the answer to the question above is “YES!” then you’re already part of the 10% who’s setting themselves up for success. If your answer is, “No,” then there’s no better time than the present to START making the changes needed to create a...

FL 177 – We help Neil & Kristen market themselves online to grow their online business | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:38

What does it take to attract people and get them to pay you for what you offer? How do you market yourself online? Let's find out in this episode with our guest Neil & Kristen Winking. They are a couple working on transitioning their experiences as wedding photography business owners to an online membership business model. Neil & Kristen owned a wedding photography business for about 5 years. Kristen ran their business full time, while Neil continued with his full time job and helped out as much as he could. Their business was born from their love of photography, but what they didn't expect were all of the back-end business responsibilities and the many, many hats that entrepreneurs wear to keep everything running smoothly. In fact, it was quite a struggle for them in the beginning as they were learning, sometimes the hard way, how to build and grow their wedding photography business. They became pretty successful, but relocated at the end of 2015, and with that the business closed. Once the family was settled in their new area, they just knew that they wanted to take their business online to allow them both the freedom and flexibility they need to spend more time with their 5 y/o son. They launched Hobby2Pro, where they provide coaching service to other wedding photographers in order for them to build and grow their own wedding photography business, just like they did. With their content and online infrastructure ready, they are faced with their biggest challenge: how do they market themselves? What does it take to really attract people and get them to pay you for what you offer? We’re going to talk about how to overcome that mental hurdle of “tooting your own horn” and tactics that can supplement your mindset shift to get more people in your doors. Cold day, frozen lake, but with a HOT podcast! Now, grab a warm drink and get ready to take down notes.  FL Yearender Special: The 5 Steps to Making Your Dream A Reality | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:13

MERRY CHRISTMAS Y’ALL! This week, we’re focusing on getting you in shape for next year’s abundance of opportunities by getting into the right mindset. But before we do, we’d like to let y’all know how thankful we are that you stuck around with us through 2017. It has been a wild ride, full of adventures, surprises and lessons. Congratulations on making it through this year, and we pray that the succeeding success stories be sweeter than the last. You guys rock! Now, let’s get on to business… online business. The 5 Steps to Making Your Dream A Reality STEP 1: Celebrate last year’s successes Take time to be grateful for what you’ve already achieved. Being mindfully appreciative of all your successes helps you to stay positive and focused on the target. If you don’t celebrate your successes and are being too hard on yourself, negative things become amplified. What should you do when you feel bogged down? When personal victories are scarce, be happy for your loved ones’ success, celebrate with them, and bask in that positive energy. Don't dwell on the bad stuff, learn from it and then move on. Channeling the spirit of gratitude is a powerful thing. There is so much good in the world, believe in it, and in yourself. Make gratitude a habit and you’re already one step closer to your dream. STEP 2: Focus on experiences Hard set goals are good, but if you really think about it, you get that exhilaration from living in the moment. Experiences are things that move on to your next adventures, they add wisdom to your years and teaches you to persevere in times of hardship. Focus on what you FEEL as you’re working towards your goals -- how are you experiencing your everyday life? The goal isn’t all there is. Money isn’t all there is. Fame isn’t all there is. Now, be honest. What do YOU want to experience in life next year? STEP 3: Identify your areas of strength and weakness What do you need to learn in order to make those experiences possible? Focus on what makes the biggest impact in your life. Sometimes we aim at multiple targets in the hope that we’d hit a good opportunity, but this just distracts us from focusing all our efforts on hitting the best opportunity. Analyze your mindset and skills. Your success depends on what you put your mind into and the consistency of your actions. STEP 4: Take consistent action! Taking action builds your momentum to get to the next level. You can form this habit by committing yourself to the cause. There is no magic pill, success requires hard work, commitment and passion. When you take consistent action it allows you to learn more, experience more and consequently DO even more. What are three things you can do to make your life and others people’s lives better? List and commit to three actions. BONUS: The conditioning of your mind becomes rewired when you take action, you are more alert and can make use of previous action’s data to help you decide an even more educated next step. STEP 5: Focus on others: Paying it forward and giving back How are you going to help others? Amazing opportunities happen to genuinely helpful people. Giving is an awesome paradox. When you give, you receive. This is true, and for the most part, what we receive is something intangible like friendship and hope. These intangible treasures are a great source of fulfillment, and allows both the giver and the receiver to grow a mindset of abundance and gratitude.

FL Special: The 6 Phases of Successful Membership | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:03

Want insight on running a successful online membership business? Then this week's episode is a must hear for you. We’re going to share the 6 Phases of a Successful Membership with YOU, dear listeners and fans. Recently, Jocelyn and I had our Flipped Lifestyle leadership excursion / vacation, where we took the time to talk about the future, reflect on the things we’ve learned this year, and enjoy some downtime to really unwind. We wanted to give you more insight on how to start and grow a successful membership community, so we summarized key points about the phases that make up the membership cycle. Happy listening and we wish y’all a very Merry Christmas! 6 Phases of a successful membership Phase One: Discovery Where people learn you exist -- cold traffic. Your audience can discover you through your podcasts, blog post, social media presence, marketing ad campaigns, etc. This is also where you start implementing your marketing plan to get yourself in front of as many people in your niche as possible. Phase Two: Learning Teach people what you’re all about. The sales process of teaching them about what you offer, so that they will join your membership. Let people get to know you, your brand and what you have to offer. You can do this in a variety of ways, like creating a really strong “About Me” page. You can also do LIVE videos, just find ways to let people into your world and show them what makes you different from other people who may be offering the same product or service that you’re offering. Help the people who have discovered you through the marketing plan, learn more about you and your brand, and sell them into your membership. Phase Three: Onboarding Getting people to join you as fast as possible by leading them to their first solution. Make sure that something is in place to welcome members who have just joined in your membership. Let them know that joining in was the right decision. What we do is we have a “Thank You Page” with a video that shows people how to find their login credentials and how to login to the community. The only page your paying customer is guaranteed to see is your “Thank You Page.” If you rely on your customer receiving their email and opening them, but there just happens to be a glitch in the system, then they won’t be able to get inside your community. So, give strong instructions and provide ways to get them immediate support in case they encounter any problems. “If they don’t get access to what they’ve purchased, people will quit.” - Shane Reach out to your people, especially the ones who haven’t been logging in and let them know you’re ready to serve them. Phase Four: Assimilation Let them know how your community culture works. If you don’t assimilate your new members into your community, they are more likely to quit. So make sure you communicate with your people, don’t leave them in the dark. Guide your members to their next course of action, be there for them and make them feel connected with your tribe. Phase Five: Participation This is where everybody becomes a family. They all hangout, getting into their routines and habits. This is also where the user starts leading themselves, taking accountability and helping other members. Instead of being just your tribe’s leader, the setting changes into more of a “round table,” where everybody is in this together -- unified under an ultimate purpose. You learn more about your members, the membership takes on a life of its own and it becomes a lot easier to manage,

FL 173 – We help Tita & Vincent focus and consolidate their websites | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:27

Can’t Miss Moment: Today's Can't Miss Moment is a family trip to Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN.  Holiday World is somewhere that I (Jocelyn) have been going for a very long time.  I started going there, I think in the 80's when it was Santa Claus Land -- it is now Holiday World.  We take the kids up there occasionally.  We haven't been there in a couple of years, but we decided this year that we were going to go up because I had gone to my 20-year high school reunion.   The kids love it, and the whole trip was just an awesome fun time.  That's one of the biggest differences, I think between before and now when we travelled.  When we use to travel, it was like you had to do it in certain times of the year.  You had to do it on weekends, when everyone else had to do it.   We always plan our trips now in a way where nobody else is there, or where half the people that are normally there are there. It just saves you so much stress and time. To remove that stress makes the trips more fun, which lets you have more memories and Can't Miss Moments, and that's just not possible without the Flipped Lifestyle.   You can connect with S&J on social media too!

Success Story of the Week: Tommy runs a brand called The Cruise Dudes, and these are two of our original members from one of our original Flip Your Life groups back when it was just in beta.  The Cruise Dudes guys showed up.  We met them, we've built a great relationship with them over the years, and watching them grown their brand. They decided that they were going to release a digital magazine called Seawind, which is celebrating the cruising lifestyle, basically, and they just review cruises and do stuff like that. They just launched last week, and they came into the success forum to share this subject line, "75 Sales in 48 Hours." Tommy says, "Our digital magazine app, Seawind, launched Sunday afternoon on both the Apple store and Google Play Store.  This morning, I reviewed the reports, and we've had 75 sales between the two platforms.  Most of the purchases were from North America, but we were getting purchases from Europe and Asia, too.  Over the next two weeks, I have interviews on a few travel podcasts and vlogs to promote the digital magazine.  To say we are excited is putting it mildly.  We are ecstatic." Seventy-five sales in 48 hours, that is absolutely incredible for any kind of launch, and we just couldn't be more proud of those guys for sticking with it,

Our Story – Chapter 5: The Promised Land | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:04

Welcome back! We've now reached the peak of the Our Story special series. The past few weeks were so humbling, as we remembered the dots and details that opened the doors to us living the Flipped Lifestyle. This week's episode is where we talk about our transition between the nine-to-five and to becoming full-time, online entrepreneurs. Our online business journey started out with so many people around us asking, "Why did you do that?" After taking action and showing the doubters and naysayers that success is possible, that you really don't have to live paycheck to paycheck, that question later turned into, "How did you do that?" We realized the difference we can make in other people's lives -- a life where you can be the boss. We created the Flipped Lifestyle to help answer one of the most vital life questions -- "How can I do that too?" We're going all out in this episode, so we hope you can take home a nugget of wisdom or two. And remember, if we can do it, YOU CAN DO IT TOO.  Our Story – Chapter 4: How a lawnmower and 11 cents changed our lives forever | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 30:58

How time flies! It’s amazing how far we’ve come, from being cogs of a machine to creating this life of freedom. We’re going to continue our story, sharing with you our lowest lows to our highest highs and hope that this inspires you to take action and make YOUR dreams into a reality. Last week, we talked about the worst day of our life, a truly terrible experience with a daycare center where they were mistreating our son, and that awful experience with a boss at our workplace that made us say, "Hey, this is not the life for us. We are going to do something else. We are going to find something different." As much as we wanted to quit our jobs right there and then, we couldn’t until we figure out a way to earn and replace our current income. We researched, brainstormed and had just so many ideas going on at once. It was really hard. We knew the goal, but we didn’t know how to get there. The Bible says in Matthew 7:7, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” We were asking and seeking. It was only a matter of time before our prayers were answered. Check out how we discovered online business, the entrepreneurial struggles and our heart-stopping 11¢ moment! We’re thrilled to share what relentless enthusiasm, decisive action and faith can do to flip your life. Pretty much sums up how I roll :D ENFP = Shane & INTJ = Jocelyn :D Jocelyn is very good at channeling my craziness! As you can see, Jocelyn is very good at channeling my craziness. :D Exhibit A: Jocelyn's healthy enthusiasm for dressing up our kids :D We love Pat Flynn :D Note: Be careful when jumping off of your lawnmower while in the middle of a cool podcast! :D Here are the links to S&J's Our Story podcast series * Our Story - Prologue: A Couple of Kids from Kentucky * Our Story - Chapter 1: Love at First Sight * Our story - Chapter 2: Welcome to the real world (maybe we should get married?) * Our story - Chapter 3: The worst day of our lives * Our Story - Chapter 4: How a lawnmower and 11 cents changed our lives forever * Our Story - Chapter 5: The Promise Land If you enjoyed this week’s chapter, let us know in the comments or better yet, leave us an iTunes review.  Our Story – Chapter 3: The Worst Day of Our Lives | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 44:47

[Tweet ""Don't let other people dictate what's possible." - Shane"] Super excited to be back with you again this week, as Jocelyn and I continue our story of what brought us to this whirlwind ride that led to where we are today. Last week, we talked about how our careers started and how we have gotten engaged. If you had a blast last week, we’re going to take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions this week! This Chapter’s Highlights * Our wedding * Our career pivots * The worst day of our lives -- the catalyst that pushed us closer to a more non-conventional way of living. We’ve been time-pressed young professionals, then time-pressed married, young professionals, and then time-pressed, working parents… we’ve been there and done that. We know what it’s like and it ain’t pretty. So, we hope that our story will inspire you, show you what is possible, and how you can do it too. [Tweet ""Whatever you decide to do is what will happen in your life." - Shane"] [Tweet ""Do what is best for your life, you can't worry what everybody else thinks." - Shane"] [Tweet ""Making the right choice involves making some hard choices." - Jocelyn"] **This beautiful harp music was playing, then all of a sudden, this woman was like “Loooooove is a beautiful thiiiiing…” — and here's exactly what it sounded like: it sounded like a dead cat being bludgeoned to death by a bagpipe. Our parents and everyone in the crowd were squirming. There was this awesome clip on our wedding video of Jocelyn’s mom, as soon as the first word comes out the lady’s mouth, her eyes just rolled back in her head like someone had stun-gunned her. I looked at Jocelyn, whispered and said, “You want me to say something to her?” I was about to stop the wedding and be like, “Yo, lady, quit singing.” (it's hilarious now, but it wasn't then, Jocelyn was so mad LOL) This is obviously not Jocelyn's idea~ Isaac was kissing me and not, in fact, gumming my face! Let's tidy up before Mommy sees the mess "we've" made! Anna Jo is a pretty baby ain't she?  Our Story – Chapter 2: The Real World | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:41

Last week, we had a blast sharing our college days with y’all. We’re now moving on to the next chapter of our story, what happened after we moved out of our dorms, graduated from college and suddenly catapulted to what we thought was the vast, fun and glorious real world. Our epic adventure starts with us moving to my hometown, where we took off our part-time adult training wheels, and went in to do some serious, “real world” adulting. You’d think that after getting our college degree we’d be all cozy and comfy, but we were in for a really big surprise. The real world wasn’t what we expected it to be, jobs were hard to come by especially since we lived in a very small and rural area. Come to think of it, there were lots of times where we had to really reflect on our next move because there were crossroads everywhere. As a young adult, the corporate environment can be a pretty scary thing to conquer. Zero experience, zero assurance, and with no idea of what’s going to happen next. This Chapter's highlights * how we forged our career paths * how we started figuring out what we wanted to do for ourselves * how we supported each other to get to that next level Here’s where you’ll see most of our early entrepreneurial tendencies kicking in. From Jocelyn’s setting of expectations, to Shane’s just-do-something-and-see-what-happens, everything that happened then was preparing us to become the people we are today. If you’ve ever been a struggling 20-something years old, this is going to bring back so many feels. Tune in this week and keep tuning in, who knows? You just might connect the dots in your life and realize you too have the puzzle pieces you need to succeed online. [Tweet "“I started thinking how could I have fun and make money.” - Shane"] [Tweet "“Worst-case scenario is they’d say ‘no’ & I’d have to do something else.” - Shane"] [Tweet "“We've learned to turn our backs on negativity.” - Jocelyn"] (visual representation of Shane being bored out of his wits) "Man, those cows are free. Look at them. They just walk around, eat grass, jump in that pond. Whatever. They're doing whatever they want. I'm trapped in this little thing. Am I really going to do this for the rest of my life?” Cow: "We're having so much fun eating grass, Shane!"   Bonus Trivia: * Jocelyn didn’t love her MBA classes, and is officially an MBA dropout. * When I actually moved from Daphne (AL), Jocelyn and my dad went and rented a big van.  This is how I knew that Jocelyn loved me, by the way, for sure.  Even being apart, being stupid, and being immature, Jocelyn got in the truck with my dad and drove 13 hours to help me pack and move back home. * How to propose to a Jocelyn: "Basically, if we don't get married now, I don't know if we'll ever have a chance to do it." / “Are you free on the 3rd?” * Jocelyn's engagement ring had her birthstone on it, instead of a diamond.
