Questioning God (S2-212) by Brett Meador | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:48:22

Most of us have a question or two that we want to ask God, yet after studying Job’s experience we may want to think twice before asking. Just as Job learned when to be quiet in Job 40:1-5, may we also be aware of the outcome of questioning God instead of trusting that He knows what is best.

Through the Bible (M2-215) by Brett Meador | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:06:41

Job desired answers to his questions but when God begins speaking and asking questions of His own, Job finds he is getting more than he bargained for. As God tells of the merits and mysteries of His creation in Job 38, we too find that we can only sit in awe and wonder - just like Job.

After allowing Job and his friends to question, opine, and wax poetic, God shows up in Job 38:1-4 to finally set the record straight. As God speaks, He provides the keys that unlock some of the greatest scientific mysteries of earth and space and silences those who would reject His power as creator and sustainer of the universe.

Job gives his final thoughts and then stops speaking; meanwhile a new commentator, Elihu, enters the conversation and doesn’t know when to shut up. As we study the words of these men in Job 32-37, we will see them all eventually silenced when God comes with His response.

The words coming from the mouths of Job’s friends run the gamut from hurtful to ungracious to destructive to just plain wrong.  Through the Bible (M2-213) by Brett Meador | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:11:36

Job and his friends continue to ramble on and on, opining about the situation, its cause and how to resolve it in Job 22-30. As we sift through their true statements, false statements, semi-accurate statements and non-applicable statements we learn how we can be discerning when it comes to the words that we listen to.

Sin For A Season (S2-209) by Brett Meador | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:48:35

Zophar makes the statement in Job 20:4-5 that sinners only prosper for a season. While this doesn’t directly apply to Job’s present situation, Zophar is technically correct in what he said. As we consider both the immediate and long-term results of sin we see that things might be okay for a time, but eventually we will become ensnared to it and reap grievous consequences.

Job’s so-called friends keep delivering verbal blows and hurling accusations, which are doing everything but helping to comfort poor Job. As we study what these men have to say - and Job’s response – in Job 15-21, we learn the art of gracious comforting, speaking soft words and lovingly pointing people towards Jesus Christ.
