Psalm 32:12 tells us what a godly nation looks like and in this we unfortunately see the sad decline of America, a nation once built upon following God, descend into sin, fallacies and squabbling. However, we also find hope in the fact that our true citizenship is in Heaven and God is faithful to His people regardless of the current political or social climate.

David’s writings about suffering in hard times, sorrows and facing enemies make him one of the most relatable people in the Bible. As we study his words from Psalm 31-32 we also see his example of trusting in the Lord to make all wrongs right and turn troubles into eternal blessings for those who follow Him.

After David commits a giant sin, complete with a horrific attempted cover-up, he is guilt-ridden and knows that he deserves a severe punishment. However, Psalm 32 shows us what happened when David repented and received forgiveness from the Lord – the same amazing forgiveness available to us today through Jesus Christ.

Most of us know David best for defeating the giant Goliath as a young man. However, we often forget that later in his life David almost meets his demise at the hands of one of Goliath’s descendants. As David reflects upon his battles in Psalm 27:1-6, we see that no matter what circumstances he is facing, his confidence is firmly rooted in the Lord and His promises.

When surrounded by enemies, stressed with emotional turmoil or struggling against sin, David knew there was only one place for him to put in his trust. As we study Psalms 24-26 we too can place our confidence in our loving God and rest assured that we have solid foundation to stand upon in troubled days.

David gives himself and us a fantastic call to action in Psalm 27:8 when he responds to the Lord’s calling to seek His face. As we consider what this means, we learn one of the best ways to seek the Lord is though prayer which will strengthen our relationship with Him and change our hearts to conform to His will.
