In Psalm 145:10-13, David writes about the glory of God’s everlasting kingdom. As we learn about this means, we can look forward to the wonderful things to come as God’s fulfils His plan for His kingdom.
We have so many reasons to praise the Lord – from experiencing His creation, to receiving His provision, to knowing the mercy of His redemption. As we study Psalm 135-139, we see a beautiful narrative of all God does in His goodness and His greatness.
In Psalm 139:17-18 we learn that God has innumerable precious thoughts towards us, but what exactly does this mean? Fortunately, we have a commentary from Peter in the New Testament on the precious things that God does for us and thoughts He thinks about us.
As we continue our Through the Bible study in Psalms 129-134, we see how the Jews have been a blessing to the world throughout their history. In the same way, we have the opportunity to be a blessing to those around us as we allow Jesus to shine through our lives.
David understands that a heart of humility and having a realistic view of himself is the right attitude in which approach the Lord in Psalm 131. As we study what this heart of humility looks like and how can we obtain it, we learn how lowering ourselves will actually lead to exaltation.
As we study the Psalms of Ascent – those which the Jews would sing as they traveled up to Jerusalem – we see a beautiful picture of the Lord’s continual care for His people and His plans for them historically and prophetically. In Psalm 123-128 we also see how these songs apply to us today as we trust the Lord, look unto Him for our help and rejoice in our great salvation.
As the world unashamedly rebels against the family as God intended it, Christians must holdfast to the Biblical model as described in Psalm 127-128. And as we follow these precepts, we will find our families blessed and fruitful in the Lord.
In a world full of lies, extreme disagreements and misinformation, we can rejoice that we have the anchor of God’s Word to help us hold firm to the truth. As we study Psalm 119:105 - Psalm 122:9 we see the benefits of being in the Word and that we can trust God for deliverance in these evil days.
Jerusalem is unquestionably the most controversial and important city in the world today - but why? And why should we be praying for its peace as commanded in Psalm 122:6? As we look at the history, current issues and future fate of the city, we see its place of importance in God’s eternal plan.
As one of the most significant items of the Christian faith, the Word of God should be loved, treasured and hold an upmost place of importance in our lives. As we study Psalm 119:1-104 we see all the ways the Word manifests itself and the wonderful benefits we receive as we follow it.
Because of our inherent sin nature, we are essentially dead men walking in desperate need of new life. The psalmist understands this predicament in Psalm 119 as he pleads with the Lord for spiritual restoration and revival – something we all desperately need but can thankfully easily attain through Jesus Christ.
God’s amazing plan for mercy towards mankind began with the Jews, reached fulfilment with Jesus’ death and resurrection and continues today through the church. As we study Psalm 117-118 we see the intricate details of this plan prophesied for all nations long before the events came to pass.
It doesn’t matter what we are facing, what answers we are seeking or what needs we currently have –the Bible has a solution for it all. As we look at the benefits of being Biblical in Psalm 119 we see the depths of Scripture and what we can reap when we make the Word of God our priority.
As we study Psalm 112-116 we can join the Psalmist in considering all the reasons we should praise the Lord. From provision and deliverance to blessing and mercy God is truly worthy of our continual and reverent praise.
It’s easy to read Psalm 115:4-8 and criticize the Israelites for their stupidity in worshiping man-made idols. However, as we examine what idolatry really is, we quickly realize that we are guilty of the same folly and must turn from our modern idolatry to worship and magnify God alone.
