Episode-1002- The Why, What and How of Modern Homesteading | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:14:05

The Classic View of “Homestead” is not the Only Option There is an old saying, “what’s old is new again”.  While a fashion minded yuppie may be referring to something like a brief return of the awful concept of bell bottom jeans or some such nonsense, there is a real meaningful component to the statement. When we are unhappy, when we know something is wrong we try to think back to happier times and make part of what they had part of what we have today.  Why do you think “I Love Lucy”, “Andy Griffith” and even “The Three Stooges” enjoyed a lot of rebirth after 911? Why do you think one network plays “A Christmas Story” for 24 hours strait every Christmas? This is particularly playing out today in the homesteading and back to the land movements.  Something is different this time though, people seem to be doing it for a new reason, while seeking the lessons of the past, they are actually looking to the future.  Rather then nostalgia driving a quaint idea, we seem to have realized, there is “a better way to do things”. Join Me Today as We Discuss….  Episode-1001- James Burnette from the Survival Punk Blog | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:33

Today on TSP we are joined by James Burnette from the Survival Punk blog.  James takes a rational, creative approach to self-reliance, applying a punk DIY ethic to survivalism without any of the fear mongering or “tinfoil hattery” found in some other areas of the survivalist movement. James is a long time listener to The Survival Podcast and has even been out to our personal homestead to share some of my 18 year old Scotch with me, so you know he must be a good guy.  I don’t break out 18 year old Highland Park for just anyone after all. His blog covers a huge range of his projects, both success and failures along with a healthy bit of myth busting.  He also provides a ton of dirt cheap creative solutions to common prepping needs and does a great job of integrating the paleo lifestyle with the prepping lifestyle.  Episode-1000- The Voice of the Community | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4:54:03

Honor, Courage, Strength and Knowledge is What TSP is All About I am calling today’s show “The Voice of the Community” because that is what is really is.  Over 150 of members of the audience called in and contributed to a narrative almost 5 hours in length.  If I ever had a single doubt about the impact of TSP this episode alone demolishes them with the force of an atomic bomb. I am so grateful to all of you for being part of the revolution each in your own way.  I will be spending most of the rest of the week working on the Revolution 2.0 video and hope to release it by Friday. Today’s show is a very large file, so I am providing a link below where you can get the file on a few other servers if you happen to have issues downloading it from here. I also cut the bandwidth down to 16kbps of compression for this episode to help many of you who are on slower connections.  If there is interest I may release a higher bandwidth version (perhaps in three sections) down the road a bit but I honestly do not think even our dedicated server could handle providing this file today compressed at 32kbps with is our standard compression format. Above all in your walk to personal independence and liberty remember the real message of today’s show is, you are not alone! Thanks to all of you who made this episode possible, remember always, every citizen a sentinel and the revolution is you! Back Up Servers for Downloading Today’s Episode

Episode-998- Solutions to Some of the Big Problems | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:47:41

Last week I had a great interview with James Howard Kunstler, a man I find interesting yet I also find many places where we disagree.  Many wondered why I allowed some of his comments to go unchallenged, the reality is simple, I don’t bring guests on for debate sparing.  I bring them on to give their view and trust that the audience will distill what they need, as each individual sees fit. I also have been around long enough to understand that it is a sorry ass weak mind that can’t stand to listen to a differing opinion.  It is an even weaker mind that can’t learn from that opinion, even if it is wrong.  Each individual perceives every problem, event, item, reality etc. from their own point of bias.  If you only see the point of a nail and I only see the head, neither of us really knows what the nail looks like, but together we are much closer to the picture of what the whole is all about. Join Me Today as I Discuss… The real reason many insist “total collapse” is in our future Why we will not see a total energy collapse in our lifetimes (good and bad) Why believing in AGW based on CO2 lets us off way to easy, seriously The danger of oil peaking is actually coal and natural gas The law of unintended consequences is about to play out (may be) Every citizen a solider?  How about every citizen a sentinel? Rebuilding society without a total collapse Rebuild soils and reestablish natural ecosystems Create designed ecosystems with “cheap energy” Develop and remove blockages to the urban ag movement Reestablish diversity in our seed lines Allow for the reintegration of small farm livestock Encourage rather then block architectural innovation Develop alternative energy in a decentralized model Turn garbage and waste into energy Crack down on companies that really are doing harm Repair and improve the energy grid Get corporate interests out of pure research Define and enforce separation of industry and government Put rail between places were people actually go frequently Create thousands and thousands of “laboratories of innovation” Develop a culture of leadership and self sufficiency Why you need to act for yourself now, and not worry about “but  ________” Resources for Today’s Show… Members Support Brigade Join Our Forum Harvest Eating – (sponsor of the day) Knife Kits – (sponsor of the day) Global Warming Stopped 16 Years Ago The Scientific Method – For those that consider consensus to be science Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-994- Why the Shotgun is the Ultimate Survival Weapon | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:11:16

For an All Around Survival Tool an 18 Inch Smooth Bore with Iron Sites is Hard to Beat. Every day I hear from people who are worried that society will break down.  Some fear it will be a big old TEOTWAWKI and others are more concerned about a regional SHTF scenario where they may be on their own for perhaps a few days to a few weeks. Most of these people are considering some sort of semi auto rifle with the two most prominent of course being the AR or AK platform.  Often they are considering the AK because they read or heard how an AK can fire if dipped in mud.  Well I ain’t here to settle this old debate today, I will just say most intelligent people don’t dip their weapons in mud. The bigger issue is most of these people are not “gun guys”.  Most of them perhaps have a 22 and may be a handgun, many have yet to buy that first gun.  What they are most concerned with is defense of a home or neighborhood or being able to feed themselves from the field.  Well friends if that is you, nothing beats the shotgun, today I tell you why. Join me today as I discuss… The primary needs of a survival weapon Protection from a defensive position One shot stopping power Reasonable rate of fire Accurate at defensive ranges Able to fill multiple roles Survival weapon roles Protect property and life Kill large to medium sized game Kill small game (likely more abundant) Shotgun Types Break action (single + double) Bolt action (sort of a novelty) Pump Semi Auto Ammo Types Bird Shot Buck Shot Slugs Less than Lethal Configuring a Flexible Shotgun Improved Cylinder Choke – most versatile Consider multiple barrels The smooth bore rifle sighted option (yes you can shoot birds and bunnies with it) See Thru Saddle Mount Scope Rings Don’t over build it Resources for today’s show… Members Support Brigade Join Our Forum Safecastle Royal – (sponsor of the day) Survival Gear Bags  – (sponsor of the day) Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.
