Advanced Audio Blog S3 #7 - We Had the Greatest Time Playing Games Last Night in France! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:59

Learn French with FrenchPod101! Don't forget to stop by FrenchPod101.com for more great French Language Learning Resources! ----Formal English---- In the bars of Nantes, an association comes to make people know all kind of games…wooden games, board games, and card games. This association is called "En jouez-vous?" The games can also be skill games such as the "frog game," where you have to throw quoits into holes that make you score different points. If you manage to throw one into the frog's mouth, you win the maximum! Games are more and more popular, and specialized stores are open all over the map. In Nantes, you can find all you want from chessboards to the latest in games in addition to backgammon sets. Card games mostly come from Germany, where creators aren't lacking originality. You can build the biggest field for your sheep flock in "La guerre des moutons" or the largest city in Citadelle or even challenge your friends to discover who knows most songs containing one word in "Shababada." In "Elixir," my favorite card game, each player plays a great magician to cast spells such as oblige somebody to "vouvoyer" you and call you "master" until the end of the game. Role-playing games are popular in France too. Before even starting a game, you have to create your character with a name, origins, and his or her own qualities. During the game, you have to interact with other players to solve a case and accomplish the mission according to the goal of the game you're playing. You can also take part in a murder party where you actually play the part of your character for the evening. If you want the party to go well, you have to dress up, learn the past of your character, be a real actor, and above all not mess up; otherwise, you'll r [...]
