Why is it that so much is out of control today and yet no one wants to take any responsibility for anything. We've become a society of blamers.. playing the blame game is not a solution to personal life problems or larger problems of society. We seem to be growing the idea that it's all about ME ME ME.. with little regard to how our actions affect others. We see this really big time right now with BP, oil in the Gulf and elected officials lining up to defend the actions of large business and how they affect the whole world How did we get so narcissistic, so self focused, how did we decide that it's all about what someone's done to us instead of what we are doing? narcissism is normal for teenagers, but it is unseemly in adults. I'm not talking just about the mental dis-ease, but the trend of thought that seems to be taking hold of the mind set of many Americans. How can we change this? With so much going on it's a bit confusing at times to figure out what it means. BP doesn't follow standards for safety, floods our ocean and the Gulf with oil, republicans defend them and make out that the president is doing a "shake down" when determining that BP should be held accountable. How much is just too much? What about the war that never ends? What does this say about us? If we ended either or both wars, would those soldiers have a job to come home to? The first step in changing things is to admit that something is amiss.. then figure out what we can think and do differently so that real change can happen. WOW, is my response to all the stuff going on in our country and world. Each morning when I check in with what's being talked about I am amazed at how we just don't seem to get it. How did we get here? Two wars, oil all over the Gulf, corruption, chemicals in our food and milk, food patented by corporations... It's JUST TOO MUCH! Still I have to ask, Are we getting the message? Do we see how the lies, fear, anger are a continuation? How do we stop this energy moving forward? There is an old saying that if you don't learn from history you are sure to repeat it.. True.. and True.. Listening to the news I have to wonder just what will get our attention! I couldn't believe it when this morning when Rep. Joe Barton apologized to BP saying how shameful it was that they were being caught up in a "shake down"!!
