Podcast #38 Sorry, Wrong Number | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

One of the most well known old time radio stories was Sorry Wrong Number, a story written by Lucille Fletcher and stars Agnes Moorehead as Leona Stevenson. The plot is very simple, Ms Stevenson listens on the phone to what appears to be a crossed connection between 2 men plotting the murder of a women. Suspense reprised this play 7 times. On January 9th, 1950, The Lux Radio Theater aired their version which was based on the 1948 movie starring Barbara Stanwyck as Ms Stevenson. Barbara also played the role on the Lux radio version. Radio Icon Orson Welles called Sorry Wrong Number “the greatest single radio script ever written” and the Library of Congress deemed the play “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” Pay close attention to the end of the show to see if you can spot the mistake made by one of the radio actors. If you spot, leave a comment in the comments section below.

Podcast #36 The Finale of The City of the Dead | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Who is Clawfoot, who is Lammy Fink, Who are the gravediggers, how did Phyllis get the black pearl, Who threw the knife at Phyllis. It will all be explained to you in great detail. What I really like about this episode is that there is very little drama, it's pretty much a 25 minute explanation of everything you've heard over the previous 9 episodes. A masterful writing job by Carlton E. Morris and one of my all time favorite old time radio shows. This is why every Halloween we try to play the entirety Of the City of the Dead Spliced together as if it's one four hour-long episode. It is great storytelling, and great acting. So fasten your seatbelt and get ready to have all your questions over the past nine weeks answered. Thank you for listening to Brando Classic Old Time Radio!!
