It's very very very late at night, but we continue with the kritical kuestions in episode 270 : our favourite tv shows when we were children, the most dramatic surgeries we've ever had, what music cds are we most ashamed of owning, what was the name of our favourite childhood toys and more!
In episode 269 you'll get to know Katia and Kyliemac just a little bit better, as we answer some of the kritical kuestions that we made people answer during the episode 200 celebrations : favourite m&m flavour, favourite Parisian landmark, favourite French food, what we don't miss about our respective countries and much, much more!
More unplugged-ness is the order of the day in episode 268, with a pig-related confession, a discussion of some of the things that inspire our speech (musicals, tv shows & internet sensations), some after-hours chat, a rant about cigarette butts over dinner, and a visit to Normandy.
Inspired by our lovely friend Dani who spent a few months in Paris in 2008, we chat with Kathryn about friendship in episode 267 : making friends as expats, what constitutes friendship for anglophones vs the french, keeping in touch with friends back home and across the world, permanency vs temporaryness as expats, talking to new people, making new friends, how the internet has helped us make friends, and how the expat experience has changed us all.
It's time for some more unplugged action in episode 266! We go to ikea, discuss champagne, crémant and sparkling wines, learn about calvados, reflect on pee, visit a farm, search for accommodation and talk like pirates.
Frog graciously deigned to help us out for episode 265, as we discuss learning language beyond the traditional classroom experience : through language exchanges. We talk about how to get the most out of a language exchange, how to find a good language partner and what, and how such experiences have helped each of us learn languages.
We've got some more unplugged action happening in episode 264, with a rant about smoking, a lament about cheese, a ferry moment, a booger discussion, some bébé belette excitement, a cheese story and an exclamation about a moat.
With the lovely Heather Stimmler-Hall in the k&k boudoir for episode 263, we chat about what inspired Heather to become a tour guide, some of the adventures she has had as a travel professional in France, the importance of preparation and asking the right questions, whether climbing the Eiffel Tower means you've "seen Paris", different travelling styles, the benefits of custom tours and how to herd people. We finish off by talking about what drew her to Paris and what keeps her here.
We're pleased to present the first k&k UNPLUGGED for the summer in episode 262. We discuss a multitude of topics : noisy heads, crayons and learn french, accomodation hunts, amusement parks and earworms.
From a café in the Marais with the delightful Kathryn, we're very pleased to present Fashion Watch Summer 2009 in episode 261! You'll hear all about what's hot and what's not on the Paris streets this summer, from frilly and frou-frou to casual and comfy!
We're very excited in episode 260, as we chat all about what we've got planned for the summer - Kylie is returning to "her America" for some fun in the sun, and Katia is heading back to Australia via Lebanon. We discuss what we're planning to see, do and eat, including reassimilating our respective languages, spending time with family and friends and shopping on Sundays!
In episode 259 we ham it up as we chat about pinheads, lights, lentils (and how katia and kyliemac saves lives), what to do with x-rays, weird weather and indian tours of Paris, the ultimate lame-o beach (Paris Plage), porno cup adventures, French KFC and how to take a compliment.
In episode 258 we talk about zombies, camping out for concerts, Kylie gives us a University Update (which derails into a long conversation about the differences in educational opportunities in different countries), then we chat about the tour de France, glasses and contact lenses.
We're back in the Not Coffee table Studio for episode 257, and talk about feedback and sound, the end of our trip to the Bordeaux region (including speaking in French, excessive poolage, frecklification, totally awesome car games, roadside fireworks and truck stops) and what happened at the fantastically fun Bastille Day picnic!
The adventures continue in episode 256, as we sip Muffitos(tm), Frog calls his dad a gangster and we talk about what we did (and didn't do) during our trip to the Bordeaux region : sleeping in, guilt trips, being a Marseillais(e)), pet peeves, architectural discussions, a visit to Saint-Emilion (which included Saint-Emilion's hermit cave, the catacombs, the underground church, the fort, macaron and cannelé tasting), cooking lessons with frog's mum and lots of pool time!
