Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Taking a break in relationships.   On today’s episode of RSP, the crew discusses what it means to take a break in a relationship. They tackle the questions: what are the pros and cons of taking a break, do these breaks lead to closeness or distance, and what are legitimate reasons for taking a break? A popular opinion shared among the team is that a break is automatically understood to be a breakup, and the men certainly agree that having time off in a relationship is not a good idea. The crew does agree that there is one situation where they might understand the need for a break. Could a request for a break suggest the person just really wants to sleep around, without the accountability of being in a relationship? At least one of the hosts thinks that even if the aforementioned isn’t the reason, asking for a break plants the seed for the other partner to think that it’s about sex with other people. To hear the hosts break down this topic, and to hear each person discuss how he/she would handle such a request from a significant other, tune in to the full episode. They discuss Donald’s Trump’s impulsivity,  and how his demeanor and behavior ameliorated America’s nasty stain of bigotry and elitism. Finally, Yusuf shares a secret that shocks the entire panel.  91st Date: I Never Heard This Voice Before | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:17:17

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Mommy and Daddy Issues  On today’s episode of RSP, Yusuf, Professor Tee, C.L. and Nique discuss mommy and daddy issues, and how, if left unresolved, those issues can impact the relationships you try to build with others. The ladies discuss the challenges they have faced conversing with men who are looking for a girlfriend to be a domestic replica of their mothers. The gentlemen believe men are likely to deal with women who have both mommy and daddy issues. Nique discusses how her communication with her mother can definitely use improvement. Professor Tee opens up about her biological father’s absence in her life. Yusuf explains why he struggles with giving his undivided attention to a mate who needs to narrate her emotionally challenging moments. C.L. talks about how growing up and being raised by a strong mother contributed to his confidence and ability to solve problems. He recognizes that his matter-of-fact approach to situations (not problems) can be mistakenly seen as him lacking empathy. What mommy or daddy issues do you bring to a relationship? What are you doing to address those issues? To find out more about how you can get to the root of said issues, tune in to this episode.  43rd Lunch Date: Humping Juice | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:43:31

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Relationship Direction  On today’s mid-week episode, the team is joined by a faithful listener, Danielle Sutton. Danielle joins the team to discuss the topic, “What assets do men and women bring to a relationship?” C.L. starts the conversation by saying men bring comfortability. The women chime in and say that logic helps bring comfort to the relationship.  Comparatively, Professor Tee points out that a woman’s emotions, although sometimes seen as negative, helps to bring balance. Is beauty an asset that a woman brings? Yusuf says, “Well, it depends. Everyone isn’t beautiful.” Do men bring intuition to a relationship? Nique suggests that they might. Danielle appreciates a man’s strengths, reminding us that women need someone there to help deal with the difficult stuff.  To find out more about how the team analyzes assets, tune in to the show, and be sure to tell us what you think of this episode.  90th Date: Cougars, Tables, & Demands | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:06:56

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Relationship Direction  On today’s episode of RSP, the team takes some time to share listener feedback. Comments about previously aired shows serve as a great segue into the conversation about relationship directions. Nique’s personal story leads to the question, “Should couples discuss and be able to answer the questions, ‘What are we doing, What is this called, and Where is this going’?” At the root, the team agrees that not knowing the direction a relationship is going in stems from the inability to communicate effectively. Nique discusses the frustration that comes with having the same conversation over and over. C.L. says you shouldn’t demand a lot out of a man until 7-9 months in, and Yusuf suggests it’s exhausting when a woman’s list of questions gives birth to additional questions that keep branching off. To get the full conversation, be sure to listen to the entire episode and share your feedback on RSP’s social media platforms.  42nd Lunch Date: We are Going to do Some Undefiling in this bed | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:52:31

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Dear Nique On today’s lunch date episode, the crew reads a Dear Nique letter from a man who is reconsidering marrying his fiancé. He is uncomfortable with the changes she’s made since she began attending a particular church. Not only does she demonstrate a symbolic practice that our writer can’t understand, she also removed some spontaneity from their sex lives. C.L. thinks our writer is indeed “trippin,” and Yusuf suggests that maybe our writer should walk away if he is not ready to progress alongside her. Nique feels like what she’s doing isn’t so bad after all, and Professor Tee thinks our writer should seek first to understand, then be understood. The feedback from the listeners differs from the hosts’ overall opinion. Overwhelmingly, the popular opinion from the listeners is this man should run away as fast as he can. The crew is eager to get read or hear your reaction to this episode, so be sure to leave your comments on one of RSP’s social media platforms.  89th Date: Captain of the Living Room | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:24:06

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Relationships and Finances   On today’s episode of RSP, the team discusses finances and how money issues affect relationships. “Should men with financial problems try to date, and “Is it deceptive if a spouse has a secret account?” These are two of several questions the team tackles. Nique says she would most definitely ask a man how much money he makes. Professor Tee shares how she allowed her ego to get in the way of admitting previous financial challenges. C.L. exerts that men should always put themselves in a position to take care of financial responsibilities, and Yusuf suggests that a woman asking about his salary on a first date is definitely a red flag. To find out more about how the team breaks down money issues in relationships, tune in to the show and be sure to tell us what you think of this episode.  41st Lunch Date: Topps & Bottoms | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:58:26

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Dear Nique On today’s midday episode of RSP, the crew responds to a Dear Nique letter. The writer wonders if she should be concerned about her boyfriend’s reaction to receiving a compliment from a gay man. She describes him as showing “rage,” towards this man, and she believes this to be a sign of homophobic behavior. While the crew agrees that the young man was out of line, the team is definitely divided. The gentlemen see no problem with the man’s reaction, but the women believe that showing violent aggression was not the best way to handle the situation. Ultimately, they all land here: this isolated incident shouldn’t be a major cause for concern; however, the couple needs to have an intense conversation about their feelings towards the LBGTQ+ community.  88th Date: Why is Your Backdoor so Loose? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:14:53

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Relationship Boundaries On today’s episode of RSP, the crew is back together again, and they are discussing relationship boundaries. Should couples have conversations about their boundaries in specific areas, or should they just go with a flow and figure things out organically? The crew discusses four common areas that challenge boundaries in a relationship: personal time, family boundaries, social media and sex. How much ME time is too much? Professor Tee shares that even when she is in a relationship, she’d like to continue taking solo vacations, but the men totally reject the idea. C.L. says as far as family boundaries, he would make sure his family knows to never approach his girl about issues or problems they might have with her. Yusuf contends that he is not posting any pictures of him and his significant other, unless they are married. Nique shares  that a man who gives a hard NO about doing certain things sexually would no longer get her time or attention.  40th Lunch Date: No, He Can Not Come Out and Play!! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:41:42

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Dear Nique On today’s episode of RSP, the crew discusses a Dear Nique letter. The writer admits to having a nonsexual affair with another woman, and he complains that since then, his wife continues to show signs that she doesn’t trust him. He questions whether or not she will ever see him for the good and not for his “mistake.” The team breaks the letter apart, and immediately points out two things: 1. Trust lost requires work in order to be fully regained. 2. Cheating is never a mistake. It is a choice. The team shares comments from their social media platforms. The readers’ comments range from advice for the couple to go to therapy to the man needing to take full responsibility for violating his covenant within the marriage. Some comments even put some blame on the wife. Tune in and assess the situation for yourself. Be sure to chime in on social media, and share your feedback.  87th Date: No Other Objects Before Me! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:04:17

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Non- physical Cheating On today’s episode of RSP, the crew discusses nonphysical cheating. Is it a thing, and if so, what does it look like? C.L. starts off by saying he has a dilemma. “Should I text my ex and send her a Happy Birthday text,” he asks the team. From there, they discuss all the ways people violate trust in a relationship. One example is object cheating—when a partner becomes obsessively interested in something outside of the relationship. This might be a hobby, an idea, or in many cases, pornography. Another question posed is whether fantasizing about another individual is considered cheating? Tune in to find out how each member breaks down nonphysical cheating, and be sure to comment on RSP’s social media platforms.  86th Date: That's 2 Too Many | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:01

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Friends and Relationships Pt. 2 On today’s episode of RSP, the team continues the conversation about friendship dynamics and how friends’ perspectives impact their friends’ romantic relationships. Can friends overshare information about their relationships? Are friends able to offer an unbiased perspective? Do our friends hold us accountable when we make poor decisions about our romantic relationships? Guest hostess, K. Antoinette, suggests that there should be a balance. She contends that people shouldn’t share too much about their romantic relationships, and friends also shouldn’t overshare their friends’ business with their significant others. C.L. challenges the women to answer the question, “Why don’t women think they’re the problem? Why do they always think it’s some other woman?” Yusuf inquires, “How much does a friend’s opinion influence the decisions one makes in a relationship?” Nique insists that her friends have minimal impact on her decisions. C.L. says he doesn’t ask anyone’s opinion about someone he’s interested in, but he expects his friends to understand why he’s interested in a particular person. To hear everyone’s answers to these questions about friendship dynamics, tune in to this episode and share your thoughts. Also, as an added bonus, be sure to listen closely to discover the details behind the mystery of Nique’s twerk video.  38th Lunch Date: Hoe Phase Ain't a Celebration | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:31:28

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Dear Nique On today’s lunch date episode, the crew responds to a Dear Nique letter where the writer asks, “Will a ho phase help me regain my self-confidence?” The writer shares that she discovered her ex cheated multiple times and learning those details did not give her the closure she thought she needed. C.L. points out that the writer should not consume herself at all with why he cheated or how many times he cheated. He implies that that’s wasted energy. Guest, K. Antoinette, says that the writer subconsciously puts some blame on herself, and this is revealed when she writes, “I never turned him down sexually.” Nique disagrees that any of this is the woman’s fault, while everyone else says she likely ignored some red flags. The team analyzes the term ho phase. “Why would women want to duplicate the negative behaviors of men,” C.L. asks. K. Antoinette states that a healed, emotionally healthy woman who wants to explore her sexual freedom is liberating, but she points out that in this scenario, the writer is likely not healed. Yusuf says she doesn’t need to explore a ho phase; he says she needs to do some work on herself instead.  85th Date: These Heathens | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:02:29

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf   Topic: Friends and Relationships On today’s episode of RSP, the crew is joined by podcaster and blogger, K. Antoinette, a returning guest hostess and a new friend to the show. Before digging deeper into the topic of friendship, the men adamantly reject Nique’s reference of their closeness as a “bromance.” They discuss the types of friends: acquaintances, close friends, and best friends and how each connection is different. Yusuf finds himself in the hot seat, as the group attempts to analyze how he handles offenses from acquaintances vs offenses from close friends. “I find value in people (I’m close to) giving me advice,” he says. C.L. contends that we should be able to take sound advice and constructive criticism from anyone (not just close friends), especially if there is truth in it. When it comes to close friends, the men disagree that trust is a major qualifier. The women suggest that people should be able to trust their friends with their emotions. They charge that a man should be able to call his male friend if he needs to cry or express a negative emotion, to which the men unanimously respond, ABSOLUTELY NOT! Tune in to the show and be sure to jot down all the notes you want to share. The crew looks forward to reading your responses and reactions on their social media platforms.
