Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Attachment Styles On today’s episode of RSP, the crew discusses Attachment styles and how they affect familial, romantic, and platonic relationships. They begin by discussing the background to the attachment theory. The crew breaks down and reacts to the 4 different attachment styles: 1. Fearful Avoidant: People who both desperately crave affection and want to avoid it at all costs. 2. Anxious Preoccupied: People who tend to be very insecure about their relationships, often worrying that their partner will leave them, and thus are always hungry for validation. 3. Dismissive Avoidant: People who have trouble getting close to others or trusting others in relationships. 4. Secure: A person that can trust others and be trusted, love, and accept love, and get close to others with relative ease. The crew discusses some past relationships with people who fall somewhere on the spectrum of the attachment Styles list. Finally, the crew reveals the results of their attachment style quizzes.  51st Lunch Date: I'll Take Epiphany for 1000 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:31:35

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: 2020 Reflection On today’s episode of RSP, the crew looks back over 2020 and reflects on the year. They answer the question, “What personal growth, accomplishments or epiphanies about yourself have you achieved or realized in 2020?” Each member takes the time to focus on the good that 2020 has brought him/her, rather than focusing on the unfortunate events that have defined this year. Milestones, new adventures, businesses, health journeys, career moves, personal projects, self-care, and self-work are some of the amazing things team members share with their listeners. To find out specifically what each person has experienced, you’ll want to listen to this episode in it’s entirety. Maybe their stories can inspire the rest of us to focus on the beauty that 2020 has brought.  98th Date: Adults on The Spectrum? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:08:33

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Non-Verbal Communication On today’s episode of RSP, the crew discusses nonverbal communication and how it affects relationships. They begin by discussing the positives: eye contact, flirting, smiling, responding in agreement and providing the right touch at the right moment. The crew agrees that verbal communication should be the primary way two people interact with each other, while the nonverbal cues should be supplementary. When the conversation shifts to negative nonverbal communication, Professor Tee discusses how being the recipient of it can make a person feel dismissed. C.L. explains that some people who choose to not communicate verbally tend to make excuses for why they don’t. The team also shares personal experiences with nonverbal communication and how it hurt the relationship. Both Nique and Yusuf discuss instances where they have struggled to communicate effectively in a relationship and how it impacted them. The team looks forward to your feedback, so be sure to share your thoughts via email or on their social media platforms.  50th Lunch Date: Are Your Nuts Roasting? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:23:34

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter  On today’s episode of RSP, the crew responds to a Dear Nique letter from a writer who tells the team, “I’m trying to be for these streets,” as he dismisses the idea of being in a relationship right now.  He wants advice from the team, asking, How can I have what I want, especially if these ladies are trying to take me off the market? The crew advises him to ensure his behavior matches what he says he wants, as this is more important than simply telling the women what he doesn’t want. The team members warn against demonstrating boyfriend behavior if being a boyfriend is not something he is ready for. They encourage him to consider how and where he meets these women. Ultimately, the crew mentions this man’s need to settle down and take time to heal himself before he does damage to himself and others, but since he’s determined to be for these streets, the current advice is to always be honest about his intentions. The crew will gladly pass on your advice and suggestions to their writer, so you’re encouraged to leave your comments and feedback on their social media platforms.  97th Date: You Can't Do It With Everyone | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:07:54

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Happy & Healthy Relationships The RSP crew comes together during the holiday season to bring their listeners an episode on the benefits of being in a happy relationship. They discuss the social, emotional, health, and personal advantages people experience when in a loving, mutually exclusive relationship. “In a social setting, people are drawn to couples that give off good energy,” Professor Tee states, and this often leads to networking and other important connections. C.L. agrees and speaks about how he and his girlfriend often witness this admiration from others. Nique discusses the peace that comes with having someone to talk to daily and how that person’s perspective helps you see things you would otherwise miss. The team discusses the joy of wanting to be home with the one you love, and Yusuf recalls a time when he abhorred going home when he was in a toxic relationship. Listen to this episode to also hear the crew discuss how a person’s overall medical health is impacted and improved when in a great relationship.  49th Lunch Date: Homeless Battered Women | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:30:09

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter  On today’s lunch date episode of RSP, the team responds to a Dear Nique letter from a woman who asks, “What do the lonely do for Christmas?” She and her husband are newly separated, and this year will be her first holiday alone. The writer is considering hiring a professional hugger to combat the loneliness. Nique suggests that she look for other ways to spend her time this holiday season, to include volunteering at homeless shelters or food banks. Yusuf suggests that she host her own party or get-together with friends. Professor Tee suggests that she try to connect with other single people who are away from family for the holidays as well. C.L. advises that she “grow up and put her big girl panties on.” The listeners’ comments reveal empathy and concern for the writer, and most of them encourage her to try the hugger, if that’s what she wants to do.  96th Date: I'm. Gonna Disrupt Your Peace Too! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:29:02

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Manipulation On today’s episode of RSP, the team is joined by guest blogger, K. Antoinette, and they discuss different forms of manipulation in relationships. Is “manipulation” always negative? The team discusses the denotative and connotative meanings of the word, and they determine that it depends on motive. If a person is using malice to manipulate, then it’s a form of emotional abuse. They discuss passive-aggressive behavior and how the silent treatment leads to gaslighting. These behaviors are not limited to romantic relationships. K. Antoinette says she confronts supervisors who use passive aggression in their leadership style. Yusuf says that he recognizes that his response to situations can be seen as gaslighting even though he doesn’t want to hurt anyone with his approach. Professor Tee discusses how language such as “Here we go again,” and “What did I do now,” interrupts the possibility of resolution. Tune in to this episode to dissect the topic of manipulation, and be sure to leave your thoughts and comments on the RSP Facebook or Instagram page.  48th Lunch Date: Time 4 Sum Aksion | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:54:30

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter  On today’s episode of RSP, the crew reads a Dear Nique letter from a gentleman who wants to know if he should confront his woman about showing more attention and affection to one of her daughters. C.L. begins by saying he shouldn’t address it directly, and he should take action instead by spending time with the daughter who gets less attention. Professor Tee challenges that suggestion by asking, “Why can’t he include both girls?” The next 30 minutes of the conversation is a debate; however, the team eventually lands here: there is no wrong way to handle the situation. The listeners’ comments reveal advice that  supports both approaches. As always, the team encourages listeners to chime in, whether via email or on their social media platforms.  95th Date: Only Your Nipples Matter | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:16:26

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Knowing When to Leave On today’s episode of RSP, each cohost shares a condition that alerts us when it’s time to exit the relationship. “You can hurt your kids more by staying in an unhealthy relationship,” Yusuf shares, as he discusses his perception about leaving. Nique’s contribution highlights the lack of balance that’s created when one person is working much harder than the other at resolving relationship issues. C.L. discusses the damage that can result when one partner is constantly standing in line to withdraw but hardly shows up when its time to deposit. Professor Tee warns that a person who begins to suppress who he/she is for the sake of being in a relationship also begins to trade in one’s identity. Listen to the entire episode to hear the depth behind these conditions, and position yourselves to learn more about a time when Yusuf felt inferior in a previous relationship, and Professor Tee dated a man who asked her to scale back on her public speaking.  47th Lunch Date: The Best Sex is with Myself | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:46:49

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter  On today’s lunch date episode, the crew is joined by guest blogger, K. Antoinette, and they read and analyze a Dear Nique letter. The writer is mourning the loss of a year and a half long toxic relationship. He admits to blocking her, and he also recognizes that leaving the relationship is better for him; unfortunately, he is struggling to cope with them no longer being together. He misses her, and he wants them to be on good terms. The team unanimously agree that the writer should work on his personal issues and deal with the root of why he wants to remain in a toxic relationship. C.L. seeks clarification: “Wait. A man wrote this,” he asks. Yusuf advises the writer to erase her as a contact and unfollow her on social media. Nique plays devil’s advocate and questions whether he was toxic in the relationship as well. Professor Tee challenges the writer to take time to write a list of all the things she’s done to make their relationship toxic. K. Antoinette interjects the point that some people only understand one love language, which may include yelling, arguing and other toxic forms of communicating.  45th Lunch Date: Don't Tell Me You're a Whore | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:45:01

Hosts: Nique Crews, C.L. Butler, Nateisha & Yusuf Topic: Dear Nique Letter  On today’s lunch date episode, the crew discusses a Dear Nique letter from a lady who is seeking advice about whether or not she should ask her boyfriend for a 2-month break from their relationship. The writer claims she fears they’d both regret not having more partners prior to their marriage.
