Confidence In Business And Your Life | DSS10 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:29

“It’s not that I’m without fear, I just don’t stick around in feelings of fear,” says Amanda Chen, Podcaster, Coach, Entrepreneur, and guest on this week’s episode of Desperately Seeking Self. Amanda chats with host Brooke Collins about how she empowers her clients as a coach, what she has learned about delegation as the owner of a growing cocktail kit and artisan salt business, and her view on the next step in the women’s empowerment movement: actually talking to men. Amanda offers a unique perspective on many elements of the female experience, and the experiences of women of color. She preaches valuing the work, not the output, and striving to see yourself as “bigger” than you think you are. She also brings a unique perspective to the idea of women’s empowerment; she talks about her new ongoing podcast series, in which she anonymously interviews 100 men on their ideas about masculinity, sexuality, and the women in their life. Amanda reminds us that showing up is most of the battle -- and that anything is possible for female entrepreneurs, especially in the world of e-commerce. Quotes: “It’s not that I’m without fear, I just don’t stick around in feelings of fear.” “I believe that you are bigger than what you’re telling me you are” Links: Instagram at @missamandachen Miss Amanda Chen Podcast: https://anchor.fm/missamandachen Join the community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/816711545453157/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/816711545453157/) IG: @innovativecoachbrooke FB: Innovative Coach Brooke Join the 21 day challenge: https://app.monstercampaigns.com/c/lclojjwhfcmyh6anyddp/ (https://app.monstercampaigns.com/c/lclojjwhfcmyh6anyddp/) Thanks for listening!  Fear Can Be Your Best Friend And Teacher | DSS08 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:36

Struggle with anxiety? Try flying trapeze. That’s the secret ingredient in author, clinical social worker and media commentator Stephanie Erickson’s journey to a happy and healthy life. In this episode of Desperately Seeking Self, Stephanie talks with host Brooke Collins about her struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. Stephanie used therapy and years of training in flying trapeze to learn how to persevere through panic and depression, trust herself, and accept the love and support of others. Stephanie’s struggle with mental health began when she was an infant - and only got worse after she was sexually abused. As a young adult, Stephanie graduated from a master’s program with a 3.9 GPA, but she couldn’t make it through the day without marijuana. She reminds Brooke that: “You can be functioning really well and still not be functioning.” Stephanie knew at that point that she needed to change her story - and her coping mechanisms. Flying trapeze offered Stephanie a way to practice persevering through fear. She is deathly afraid of heights, and started crying when she first climbed up the 18 foot tall platform. But despite that debilitating fear, the power she felt after each class inspired her to keep going. She quickly realized that trapeze was emblematic of her journey through anxiety and trauma - she had to trust her body, trust her team, and breathe through her fear each time she took a leap. Follow along with Stephanie and Brooke as they discuss boundaries, trust of self and others, journeys of self-discovery, and how to accept who and where you are at any age. Quotes: “You can be functioning really well and still not be functioning.” (7:35-7:39) You can’t create your worth through the lens of other people (39:38-39:45) The thing that has helped me the most is using my body as a tool to guide my mind (42:01-42:08) Links: www.stephanieerickson.ca https://stephanieerickson.ca/book/ Join the community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/816711545453157/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/816711545453157/) IG: @innovativecoachbrooke FB: Innovative Coach Brooke http://www.innovativecoachbrooke.com (www.Innovativecoachbrooke.com) Thanks for listening!  What To Do If You Feel Lost And Don’t Recognize Yourself Anymore | DSS06 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:36

Have you given so much of yourself that you feel lost? Here are some tips that I used and continue to use when I start to feel like I’m not recognizing myself.

Connecting Mind, Body, and Soul Purpose with Trish Bianco | DSS05 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:15:54

· We are all given a set of challenges in this life to get us closer to who we really are meant to be. We are given challenges to overcome as an invitation to self-discovery. · Mine began at a young age where I was disempowered to my core - sexual abuse was a thread in my life starting a young age that colored my lens of the world for a long time...I became jaded and had a skewed view of who i was in the world - this kept showing up for me as I went through high school, college and into my 30’s where I had my major pivot- a sexual assault which lead to a full court conviction after a 10 year battle where things got darker before the light shown in. I came to realize that no one or no 1 court case could cure me - I had to do my own work to change me. · Sharing yoga as a point of healing with other women that may have felt disconnected from their bodies is important because yoga taught me I am safe in my body and I can calm my mind through movement. · Movement and meditation can take you so very far in healing and there comes a point when you are ready to dive even deeper into the next level of healing on a soul level. This is why I decided to expand from not only movement at my studio but dive deeper with women into true transformation. A lot of healing can happen in a yoga/fitness class when women begin to heal and feel supported and now I do that in a smaller container of 1;1 sessions and small group coaching in addition to my online workouts, meditations and astrology. · Nobody knows what is on the inside and I want women to know There is nothing wrong with you - you have some old patterning that we need to uncover and break some limiting believes that you have made as your “truth” I would tell here to look at the women around her she admires, looks up to or is even jealous of and remind her we are all cut from the same cloth. We are all one and no one is sent here avoiding hardship or struggles and whatever you have been through someone else in the world as alchemized from the greatest struggle to her gift to the world. I don't believe I would be doing the work I am doing if I didn't struggle so much. You can change, you can become more yourself and you don't have to do it alone - the ones that truly transform have support. · I work with my clients and their challenges by breaking through old patterning and limiting beliefs to create lasting change. · Quote that best Describes Trish: Sometimes the bad things in our life put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us. Trust the process. About the Guest: Trish Bianco Trish Bianco, Empowerment Coach.  So How Do You Deal With Mean Girls | DSS03 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 10:49

Jealousy is at the center of mean girls, you’ve got something they don’t whether it’s a job, money, a home, relationship or physical appearance, because of this they will try to bring you down. Know this when you are on the receiving end of the bullying, it hurts, it sucks, it’s lonely and painful. Remember that you owe it to YOU to stand up for yourself! Recognize it’s not about you, it’s about them so stop blaming yourself Stay Calm, if you don't get emotional or react you don’t give them anymore power. Call her out, Nothing a bully hates more than being called out, she thrives on your silence and pain Give up looking for change or thinking you can do something different to be treated better. There isn’t anything you can do but focus on you. Look for new friends or people to spend your time with, you owe yourself that much. Keep your dignity and serenity intact by walking away and setting the boundary that you are worth more than being treated like dirt! It’s hard Join the community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/816711545453157/ IG: @innovativecochbrooke FB: Innovative Coach Brooke www.Innovativecoachbrooke.com Thanks for listening!
