The REVOLT Summit dominated Atlanta this past weekend during our three-day event, which was put in place to allow rising moguls the opportunity to be enlightened and informed by people in positions of power who look like us. One panel in particular called “Trap the Vote: Hip Hop & Politics” focused on the importance of being vocal and educating yourself ahead of the 2020 election. The panel discussion included activist and co-president of the 2019 Women’s March Tamika Mallory, rappers and activists T.I. and Killer Mike, activist and former spokesperson for the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign Katrina Pierson, American conservative commentator Candace Owens, and Steven Pargett of Dream Defenders. Had a interesting conversation with two business women in the city of Charlotte about gentrification… We want to have a series of conversations with black people on their thoughts on how to solve the affordable housing crisis and how black people must unite to create wealth in the city of Charlotte... Is Cam Newton serious about playing football or is the more about a fashion show before and after the game… People can say whatever they want to say but the 2015 Cam Newton has left the building and now I don’t know who this dude is. A black woman named Carolyn J Ruff is continuing the boycott of a Korean beauty supply chain called Missha beauty supply for almost 2 years… She was inspired by what happened in Charlotte in 2017  when a black woman was beaten by the store owner for allegedly stealing eyelashes.  The store owner in Charlotte punched kick and threw a black woman to the ground. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bj-murphy9/support

This week, the NFL, with its $42 million-per man at the wheel, committed another act of putting up while shutting up. I don’t know what it’s like to be on drugs or addicted to crack or be a regular marijuana smoker. I never popped  pills or any of that but I do have empathy for my people when I see them in that condition. White America wants to know whether black leaders have anything good to say about The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Corey Booker was asked by Dana Bash of CNN whether he would still meet with the Minister after saying he would 2 weeks ago at a campaign function. The Justice Department’s decision on Tuesday to decline to bring federal civil rights charges against Officer Pantaleo, is a slap in the face of all of Black America. What are the drastic steps we need to take to get the attention of our elected officials.
