Carlos Giffoni joins us to pay tribute to Peter Rehberg, who we lost on July 23, 2021. Carlos worked with Peter and brought him to the US for the first No Fun Fest, helping to introduce many stateside noise supporters to the world of Mego. We discuss Pita’s classic album "Get Out," as well as share stories of Peter Rehberg. His loss will be felt for ages, but his music, and the music he released, will forever live on.  Kingdom of Noise: Japanese Noise Selection | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:21

An absolute classic VHS called for our first in-person episode in a long time as we all got together to watch "Kingdom of Noise: Japanese Noise Selection." Truly mandatory viewing for everyone, it was great to revisit as these clips were some of the first noise visuals we saw back in the 90s. This tape is a perfect showcase of the breadth of Japanese noise featuring Masonna, Merzbow, Seed Mouth, Incapacitants, and much more. A mandatory look into extreme history.Follow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraEpisode Sponsors:Misanthropic Agenda | BandcampCheck out the new Dave Phillips "To Death" CD!Recent Listening:Alberich/Final "A Second is a Year" Final "Burning Bridges Will Light Your Way"Sewer Election - AntarktisCCCC - GnosisPrivate Archive - s/tCoil - Unnatural History

Ferial Confine – The Full Use of Nothing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:10

The junk orchestra is tuning up as we sift through debris with Ferial Confine "The Full Use of Nothing." Squeals becomes notes, layers become voices, and chaos becomes ambient. An inspiring chunk of 1980s UK noise, this album leads us out of the mundane into the nothingness of total sound.Follow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraRecent Listening:Subklinik "Neuroskizm"Serration "Rites of Flesh"Overload "Brainwasher"Eroticism "Once and Again"Andrew ChalkEric La Casa "Threshold of Stones"Various Artists "Pop Ambient"Richard Ramirez "Hey Sissy!"Small Cruel Party "Resin, Parched, Chthonic"

 Vromb – Perimetre 3+10 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:06

A multi format release closes doors that can never open with Vromb's "Perimetre 3+10" on Ant-Zen. The rhythmic noise hypnosis of this release connects us all to event horizons. Tara attempts translate and dissect the French vocals and discovers a conceptual theme imbedded in this great late '90s black hole.Pick up this album at the Ant-Zen BandcampFollow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraAnd don't forget to check out the Death Squad - Collected Documentation book!Recent Listening:Advokat Ihrer Hoheit "Ruskschau"Capricorni Pneumatici "Putredini Obnoxious"Dead Body Love "Unplugged"Dead Body Love "Bacteria 2"HCOD "Instruments of Destiny"

In our first episode on a Ground Fault Series 1 CD, we bring nature inside with Kiyoshi Mizutani’s "Bird Songs." Before there was Brighter Death Now there was Lille Roger, and we head back to 1985 to discuss his “For Life” cassette.  Fennesz – Endless Summer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:31

June is calling so we thought it would be a great time to cover "Endless Summer" by Fennesz. It’s our first time highlighting a Mego album and this seminal disc is a fantastic marker of a particular branch of noise sounds. Melodic guitar swims under broken computer sounds and we are washed away in its waves. Note: apologies for some mic crackle and distortion on this episode.Check out the Fennesz Bandcamp for this and more!Follow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraIf you would like to advertise on Noisextra, email ads@noisextra.comRecent Listening:Anenzephalia "Kaltwelt"Anenzephalia "Magenta"Richard Ramirez "Kicking Stars that Left Desire"Black Leather Jesus "Video Boy Hustler"Vatican Shadow "Persian Pillars of the Gasoline Era"Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement "Flying Fish Ambience"Skin Crime/Crank SturgeonHecker "Sun Pandemonium"Joe Colley "Trance Tapes"Various Artists "New Forces"Evil Moisture "Lucio Full Cheese"Josh Peterson "Night Electronics"Jaakko Vanhala "Feral Earth"Gruntsplatter/ & Wilt "The Trough of Armageddon"

An incredibly unique and special Japanese project, Seed Mouth brings something ineffable to the noise landscape.  IRM – Oedipus Dethroned | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 55:47

The story of Oedipus is reimagined by IRM on the "Oedipus Dethroned" CD on Cold Meat Industry from the turn of the century. This is a power electronics concept album that utilizes classical symbols and icons to create something beyond its parts.  P16.D4 – Acrid Acme (of) P16.D4 (with guest Howard Stelzer) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:19:40

Did Howard Stelzer break the Noisextra crew with "Acrid Acme (of)" P16.D4? Stelzer brought us this unclassifiable CD from 1989 to explore. This album has been with him since its release, and Howard’s knowledge and relationship with this seminal German project is infectious. We also get into Stelzer’s discovery of noise while living in Florida in the late 80s/early 90s.Check out Howard's latest release, Invariably Falling Forward Into the Thickets of Closure and his collaboration with Expose Your Eyes, One Should Never Cease Considering Human Love Which Remains As Grisly And Golden As EverFollow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraEpisode Sponsors:Foul PreyTroniksMisanthropic Agenda | Bandcamp(use code NOISEXTRA for free shipping within the USA)Recent Listening:Dave Phillips "Don't Hurt Me For Your Pretty"Hypertrophy "Sarcoplasmic/Myofibrillar"Blessed Sacrifist "Loss of Innocence"V/A "Corporal Punishment"Smell and Quim "Bulls Penis Soup" Hair Stylistics

 Merzbow – Red 2 Eyes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 47:13

We are back in Merzland with the fantastically bright "Red 2 Eyes" 10" on V2. These thick, heavy, and cosmic sounds were recorded in February and August of 1995 and we get to hear Merzbow experimenting with his then-recently acquired EMS synth. As well as the history of this record and title, there is a fun-filled debate on what to call the colors of the cover and vinyl. This 10" showcases how and why Merzbow hits in a way no one else quite can.Follow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraEpisode Sponsors:Foul PreyTroniksMisanthropic Agenda | Bandcamp(use code NOISEXTRA for free shipping within the USA)Recent Listening:K2 "Demise Symphonika"V/A "Corporal Punishment"V/A "Sociometric Test"
