Thursday, May 13th 8:00PM Eastern/ 5:00PM Pacific The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 11th study session on Jack Olsen's Last Man Standing: The Tragedy and Triumph of Geronimo Pratt. Olsen is a White man, and a prolific author. He wrote for Sport Illustrated during the turbulent 1960's, and penned a celebrated series examining black athletes and Racism. The magazine also credits Olsen with writing one of the best biographies on boxing icon and attempted counter-racist Muhammad Ali. Last week, Olsen detailed the CBS "60 Minutes" interview of Pratt. The piece aired in 1987, and seemed like it was probably edited by FBI enforcement officials. Pratt's White female prison counselor (L. Atkinson), continued to advocate for Pratt against her fellow co-workers wishes. Flexing her White might, Atkinson sued the Department of Corrections for $100,000 for workplace abuse, ditched the penitentiary and became pen-pals with Nelson Mandela. Before exiting, she severely admonished Pratt for not holding a grudge against Huey P. Newton. The White woman called Netwon a "dickhead" and chided Pratt to recognize his "enemies." Newton was shot and killed shortly after being released from prison. The year's worth of disruption resulting from Covid-19 allowed many powerful White people to hang out at home on zoom since last spring. This new divide may be permanent for some, as a number of powerful workers will be allowed to continue to remain at home for all or a substantial portion of their work week. C.O.W.S.'s listeners have reported this exact dynamic - their White supervisors have "Zoomed" in their pajamas, offering remote (often, useless) managerial support. Last week, Olsen detailed Pratt's frustration with being caged while his wife Ashaki struggled to parent two children by herself. Pratt's hopes were repeatedly dashed when White judges rejected his appeals for a new trial. Their dismissals generally included insistence the Julius Butler was not an FBI informant, and that Pratt had received a "fair" (although not perfect) trial. "Time for an Awakening" for Sunday 5/02/2021 at 7:00 PM our guest was Author, Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Jerome Fox. Some of our collective views on Politics, Education, Economics, etc. suggests that an addiction to European core values, that inherently promote tacit acceptance of white domination. The discussion centered around the book by Dr. Fox "Addicted to White: The Oppressed in League with The Oppressor" A Shame-Based Alliance, along with solutions for our community to break addiction and move forward.

Gaston County, NC – Gabrielle Jones, just 7 yrs old, was killed this month by an uncle in an accidental shooting. According to local news reports, police said Jeremy Quintrel Lewis was shooting a rap music video inside the home Gabrielle lived which is located on Ware Avenue in Gastonia, NC. Apparently, Lewis used real guns as props for the video. When it comes to gun violence whether intended or not, it is very concerning that children are among the many, many victims of gun violence in the United States. Solutions to stop the carnage seem to be lacking. The United States culturally is based on violence and as a nation, historically, one could argue has been one of the most violent barbaric nations on the face of the planet. However, when it comes to the African-American community culturally, our rich and historic culture in the arts and music has been perverted by the music industry also known as the Recording Industry Association of America, a trade organization representing the industry players. They are most responsible for the content perversion. The RIAA is more responsible, other than the television and movie industry, in promoting and celebrating violent conflict resolution. Rap music today is judged not by the industry on any kind of culturally artistic intellectual achievement but rather is based on sales which are equated to popularity and no one drives violent ographic rap sales more than white people who also profit the most from its dissemination through various labels. If Black Lives Matter is a principle white people agree on, then why don’t they stop purchasing music that equates Black people with n-words whose lives don’t matter in the lyrical content. Sure the recording artists bear some responsibility but the lion’s share of the fault rests with the captains of industry and the consumer base.
