What are LSU's keys to success against Lane Kiffin to hand Ole Miss Rebels their first loss of the season? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2073

The LSU Tigers host the Ole Miss Rebels (Landsharks?) in Tiger Stadium this Saturday. LSU is coming off of a big road game against the Florida Gators, led by quarterback Jayden Daniels who had his best game of the season with over 450 yards of offense and six total touchdowns. On the other hand, Ole Miss enters this matchup undefeated with SEC wins over Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and most recently Auburn. So how can LSU hand Ole Miss their first loss of the season? Steven Willis of Locked On Ole Miss joins Caroline Fenton of Locked On LSU to preview the matchup and highlight how each of their respective teams can win this game. The Rebels biggest threat is the run game with a strong running back duo of Quinshon Judkins and Zach Evans who have the second and fifth most rushing yards in the SEC, respectively. How can LSU's defensive front stop Judkins, Evans, and the rushing attack? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  How is Brian Kelly and LSU football recruiting compared to the rest of the SEC? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1779

Even when all of fans' attention turns from recruiting to on-the-field play in late August, midseason is the most important time to get the attention of recruits, and keep the attention from commits. Sports Illustrated recruiting insider John Garcia Jr. joins Caroline Fenton and Locked On LSU breaking down why exactly the months of September through December are so important for building and maintaining a solid recruiting ground. Plus, there is a five star, highly recruited five-star multitool athlete out of the Washington D.C. area that has yet to commit, but LSU is on his radar. Just how serious is he about coming down to Baton Rouge? Where else is he looking, and how can Brian Kelly (and maybe another coach on campus) convince him to wear purple and gold?  Did LSU's offense find identity against the Florida Gators? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2025

After the LSU Tigers lost big to the Tennessee Volunteers at home in Death Valley last week, a lot of questions arose about Jayden Daniels' ability to be a starting quarterback in the SEC and Brian Kelly's in-game decision making. Rightfully so, since Daniels had yet to emerge as a great passer and had shown hesitation of lack of confidence in the pocket. Kelly remained loyal to his starting quarterback, a decision that paid dividends against the Florida Gators when Daniels had undoubtedly his best performance in an LSU uniform. By far. Daniels threw just shy of 350 yards and six total touchdowns, three on the ground and three in the air. Daniels took command of the offense, didn't stress under pressure, and looked confident enough to make the deep ball throws that many LSU fans had been begging him to make all season long. LSU's man under center was fantastic against Florida; on the road, nonetheless. But the greatest question remains: was that a one night thing, or did Jayden Daniels and the rest of the LSU offense finally find a breakthrough? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Establish the run, stop the run | How the run game on both sides of the ball is the key to an LSU win over Florida Gators | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2132

The LSU Tigers look to redeem themselves after a brutal loss at home against the Tennessee Volunteers as they head to The Swamp to take on the 4-2 Florida Gators. How can LSU beat the Gators in Gainesville, and how could they fall to 2-2 in SEC play? The run game is the key in this game on both sides of the ball: establish the run offensively, and stop Florida's run defensively. Offensively, LSU needs to balance their run offense we saw against the Auburn Tigers and match it with the passing game and 300 yard performance we saw from Jayden Daniels against the Vols to create a balanced offense to move the ball downfield and keep Florida's defense guessing. Florida ranks at the bottom of college football, statistically, in yards per play, third down conversions allowed, and total yards per game. If LSU can take advantage of a Florida defense that has given up a lot of yards this season, they can be successful in creating big plays and continuing to evolve the passing game. Defensively, LSU will have their hands full trying to stop Montrell Johnson, Trevor Etienne, Nay'Quan Wright, and quarterback Anthony Richardson on the ground. Florida is the third best team in the nation in yards per carry, and after giving up 263 rushing yards to Tennessee last week, LSU's run defense needs to turn things around in Gainesville.  State of the program: how do we feel about LSU football, Brian Kelly through six games? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2362

Brian Kelly took over an LSU football program with thin depth, facing potential NCAA sanctions, and a disgruntled fan base whose team took a steep decline following a national championship and possibly the greatest season by any college football team ever. It wasn't then and still isn't an easy task for Kelly and his coaching staff, but the expectation for him was to turn the program around and eventually win a championship. So now that we are halfway through the college football season, how do we feel about how Brian Kelly has done so far and the direction in which the program is going? 247Sports writer Dylan Sanders joins Locked On LSU to evaluate how he feels about the program, how fans should feel about LSU football, and what changes need to be made now that we are six games through Kelly's inaugural season. How much patience should Tigers fans have with Brian Kelly? What changes need to be made, both on the field and off, before that patience begins to run thin if it hasn't already? Plus, LSU has a brutally difficult schedule coming up. The Tigers head to the Swamp to take on the Florida Gators this weekend, then they host #9 Ole Miss in Tiger Stadium before taking on #3 Alabama following a bye week.  Battle in the trenches | Florida Gators vs. LSU Tigers matchups to watch in The Swamp | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1795

Coming off of a tough loss to the #6 Tennessee Volunteers in Tiger Stadium, LSU football heads to The Swamp to take on fellow first-year head coach Billy Napier and the Florida Gators. Florida is coming off of a 24-17 win against the Missouri Tigers, but the story line all season long with the Gators has been Anthony Richardson's consistency. Against the Utah Utes in Week 1, he looked like a Heisman Trophy contender. But throughout the rest of the season we have seen him regress into an indecisive, poor decision-making QB who struggles with the simplest of throws. So which Anthony Richardson will LSU see on Saturday night? Brandon Olsen of Locked On Gators joins Caroline Fenton and Locked On LSU to preview the matchup and highlight the biggest storylines between this SEC East vs. SEC West game. Can LSU fix their mistakes that cost them the Tennessee game? Plus, how can each side win? Florida's offensive line and run game has been their greatest strengths all season long. On the other side, LSU's defensive line and run defense has been their greatest strengths. If LSU stops the run, can Richardson throw the Gators to victory? Even though LSU's defense gave up nearly 250 rushing yards to Tennessee, can they clean up their mistakes and stop a mobile QB and stout running back core? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Three things LSU football needs to clean up before taking on the Florida Gators | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2012

LSU football's blowout loss to the Tennessee Volunteers is not indicative of this football team; it was a bad day, not a bad team, nor a bad coaching hire. But that loss did expose some of LSU's weaknesses, both on the field and on the coaching staff, that need to be cleaned up before continuing on to Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Alabama.  Locked On LSU host Caroline Fenton highlights on thing each on offense, defense, and special teams that needs to be cleaned up in order for the LSU Tigers to be successful. Why didn't Brian Kelly and defensive coordinator Matt House play standout freshman Harold Perkins against Tennessee when he has been a force on the defense all season long? What is LSU's offensive identity, and how many games can they win while they figure it out? We all know that Brian Kelly and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock are notorious for utilizing the tight end position, but does throwing to Kole Taylor and Mason Taylor over Kayshon Boutte, Jaray Jenkins, and Jack Bech give LSU the best chance to win? If some of LSU's best players are also contributing on the special teams unit, then why are special teams struggling so mightily? LSU football head coach Brian Kelly addressed these things in his weekly press conference leading up to his teams matchup with the Florida Gators. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Tennessee Vols crush LSU Tigers in Tiger Stadium – how will Brian Kelly respond? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2262

Brian Kelly suffered the worst loss of his FBS coaching career on Saturday when Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers routed LSU 40-13 in Tiger Stadium. Tennessee remains undefeated and LSU is now 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in SEC play. The Tigers seemed doomed from the very beginning when sophomore WR Jack Bech muffed the kickoff and Tennessee recovered the ball and scored a touchdown. LSU was down early and the special teams woes continued after giving up a 58-yard punt return setting Tennessee up for a field goal to go up 10-0 early. Brian Kelly's strategy was to keep the ball out of Tennessee's hands and limit their number of possessions by going for it on fourth down three times. But LSU converted on zero of those attempts, giving Tennessee great field possession to march down the field and score. However, there were a few silver linings to an otherwise brutal game for LSU. Brian Kelly was very clear that he wanted QB Jayden Daniels to take more risks and throw the ball more, which he did. Jayden Daniels threw for 300 yards, the most he has thrown for since November 2019, and added a touchdown and interception on the day. While Daniels missed several open targets downfield, sometimes not even throwing it their way, Daniels was at least able to use the passing game more than he has in an LSU uniform even when the offensive line was missing two starters in Will Campbell and Garrett Dellinger. Overall, it was a day of coaching mistakes and on-the-field blunders that kept LSU out of the game with a solid Tennessee team. Brian Kelly said he needs to coach better – but what exactly does that mean and how can this team turn things around before a road trip to play the Florida Gators in the Swamp?  How can LSU upset the #8 Tennessee Volunteers in Tiger Stadium? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2183

LSU is ranked for the first time since playing UCLA to start the 2021 season and they now host the #8 ranked Tennessee Volunteers in an 11am matchup (much to our dismay) in a prove-it game for both Brian Kelly and Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel. How could LSU lose this game and how could they upset the undefeated Vols? Tennessee has the top ranked offense in the country with their quick, high-powered offense led by Hendon Hooker. But LSU is the highest ranked defense they have faced so far this season, so how will Tennessee's offense adjust to LSU's defensive line? Can the Tigers' front four put enough pressure on Hooker, who has yet to throw an interception this season, to force turnovers and mistakes? On the other side of the ball, Brian Kelly has challenged Jayden Daniels to take more risks in the passing game. Is that the key to adding another element to LSU's offense and putting up enough points to beat a Tennessee team averaging 45 points per game? If Tennessee stops the run, as Heupel has alluded to, can LSU win this game through the air? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  What went wrong against Auburn, why LSU kept it close, and how Brian Kelly is going to fix it | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1987

LSU was able to escape Auburn with a win and the Tigers (the Louisiana ones) advance to 2-0 in SEC play. While the most important thing in SEC football is to simply survive and advance, we still learned a lot about this team and what needs to improve if they want to find success moving forward in conference play. Brian Kelly spoke with the media and highlighted three areas in particular in which LSU struggled: pass defense, pass offense, and starting fast and strong. So how does Coach Kelly plan to right the wrongs of his football team going into a home game against Tennessee? He also provided an update on the health of quarterback Jayden Daniels, who left the Auburn game early with a knee injury, and CB Sevyn Banks who left the game on a stretcher after a collision during kickoff. Will LSU have their starting guy under center against the Volunteers? When can we expect Banks back and healthy? Plus, Locked On LSU host Caroline Fenton presents the game balls from the Auburn win.  Penalties, run offense, and Auburn turnovers | How LSU was able to get an win at Jordan-Hare Stadium and why it was so ugly | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2136

Can the LSU-Auburn matchup ever be normal? Can we ever get a normal game? Just once? LSU advances to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in SEC play after a 21-17 victory over the Auburn Tigers in Jordan-Hare Stadium. LSU now sits at #25 in the AP Poll and they are in a good position to host Tennessee in Tiger Stadium in Week 6, but the process to get here wasn't pretty. The LSU Tigers only threw for 85 yards the entire night: Jayden Daniels for 80 yards on 8 completions and Garrett Nussmeier, who came in the game when Daniels came out with a knee injury, who threw for just 5 yards on 2 completions. LSU committed 10 penalties for nearly 100 yards and gave up more than 300 to Robby Ashford and the Auburn passing game. It wasn't pretty...but it was beautiful. LSU's defense yet again showed up when it was needed the most. Even though the secondary missed tackles and allowed Ashford to hit on several deep balls, BJ Ojulari forced a fumble that Jay Ward returned to the end zone for LSU's first touchdown of the night and Harold Perkins intercepted WR Koy Moore (told you it wasn't a normal game) to stop Auburn on 2nd & goal. Also, when Jayden Daniels couldn't get much done in the air, the running backs stepped up. Running backs Josh Williams, Noah Cain and John Emery Jr. and QB Jayden Daniels were efficient on the ground combining for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns. There were sloppy penalties (looking at you to clean that up, Brian Polian), missed opportunities (looking at those dropped passes, LSU WRs), and too many busted coverages (looking at you, LSU secondary), but nonetheless LSU remains undefeated in conference play and was able to come back from a 17-0 deficit in the first half to win the game in a raucous road environment.  LSU football gears up for the toughest SEC stretch of the college football season | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1950

LSU travels to Auburn this weekend to take on the 3-1 Auburn Tigers to begin the most difficult stretch of the entire season. Brian Kelly spoke with the media earlier this week and acknowledged that LSU has been able to overcome a lot of adversity so far this season: a lot of change, a tough loss in Week 1, etc. but the real challenge has yet to come. Kelly says there are some tough days ahead for the LSU Tigers and it begins on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Plus, what does the rest of the SEC West look like? Division foes Mississippi State and Texas A&M face off at Davis Wade Stadium, Arkansas hosts Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, and Lane Kiffin hopes to have a packed house as Ole Miss hosts the Kentucky Wildcats.  Drama between the Auburn Tigers and LSU Tigers starts before game day | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1875

The Auburn-LSU rivalry is never short of drama. The night the barn burned, the earthquake game, the trip to Auburn that cost Les Miles his job...the list goes on and on. It seems like this Tigers-on-Tigers competition almost always comes with twists, turns, and drama, and this year is no different. Former LSU WR and now Auburn WR Koy Moore went on an Auburn podcast to talk about the reason why he transferred. He made a massive claim against LSU, and the current LSU players took notice. Will LSU be fired up from what Moore said? Plus, the three ways LSU can beat Auburn and the three ways they could lose. Brian Kelly mentioned the offense needs to play clean, consistent football and the defense needs to stop Auburn RBs Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter. How does LSU's defense stack up against Auburn's?  Everything LSU fans need to know about the Auburn Tigers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1716

The LSU Tigers head to Jordan-Hare Stadium to take on the Auburn Tigers as LSU begins their most difficult stretch of the 2022 college football season. LSU is 1-0 in SEC play after a huge Week 3 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs and they hope to improve to 2-0 in the conference and 4-1 on the season this weekend. LSU's defense has emerged as one of the best in the conference. After a shutout win against New Mexico and limiting a high-powered Mississippi State offense to fewer than 300 yards total, the Tigers' defense should give trouble to an Auburn offense that has struggled with turnovers and the passing game. Host of Locked On Auburn, Zac Blackerby, joins Locked On LSU to break down the biggest story lines surrounding this team and its biggest strengths and weaknesses. Auburn currently sits at 3-1 with a loss to Penn State and 1-0 in conference play after a close win over the Missouri Tigers. Bryan Harsin's seat is hot and the biggest challenge his team will have against LSU is getting the offense moving. Auburn running backs Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter have been the brightest spots on offense, but Auburn's weakness on offense has been in the passing game and finding consistency at QB. Robby Ashford and TJ Finley have split reps under center and they combine for two touchdown passes and six interceptions. On the other side of the ball, Auburn has had success getting pressure on the quarterback so far this season. One big obstacle for LSU, now that LG Garrett Dellinger is out with a broken hand, will be protecting quarterback Jayden Daniels. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
