2022 DT Ayobami Tifase Picks Florida State, Is It All About Money? Miami Under Investigation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1896

Florida State Football finds a stroke of much needed recruiting moment landing 2022 DT Ayobami Tifasi. Is this just further proof that Odell Haggins still has a long career ahead of him? The guys break down what this commitment means for Florida State and discuss Coach Odell Haggins' future. Next, Max and Dave talk about another recruit from recently promoted to 3-star Quindarrius Jones. Jones is an athlete that projects to play defensive back in college. It seems like the staff might have gotten in early on an under the radar prospect. However, Max and Dave cant help but ponder if the Noles will be able to hang on if the SEC gets involved in Jones' recruitment. This begs the question, will money be all that matters in the new landscape of college football or can FSU still compete with brand power and prestige? Finally, they discuss Miami being under investigation by the NCAA. They explain how the NCAA could still enforce rules against boosters paying recruits despite student-athletes now being allowed to profit off of their name, image, and likeness (NIL). While the guys wouldn't hate to see Miami in trouble, Max issues a direct warning about the the implication of the NCAA's actions. Learn more about your ad choices.  "Third Impression": How FSUs matchup with LSU can shift perception across CFB Landscape and State of Florida recruiting | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1755

You only get one chance at a first impression. What if we told you that's a lie and in fact you can get a second and third? Well, the boys here at Locked on Seminoles your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles daily sports podcast, are here to talk about just that on today's episode.  Today, Dave & Drake talk about the importance of the Week 1 Labor Day weekend matchup with the LSU Tigers. What would a statement win do for Mike Norvell in the eyes of not only the fanbase but also the national media as a whole? Would a loss be the final nail in the coffin or simply just what we've come to expect from this squad? Also, recruiting the state of Florida is a large reason why Florida State was a force to be reckoned with ion the 90s. Now, with the lack of recruiting the very hotbed they call home, what does FSU need to do to get back on track here on the home front. Additionally, is it too late for FSU to be back on the top of in-state recruiting or will even just solidifying themselves in Florida be enough to push the back towards the promise land.  As always, we like to thank each and every one of you for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen each and every single day and we hope you enjoy the show!  Will DJ Williams Be Missed? Florida State Running Back Enters Transfer Portal | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 702

Florida State Seminoles' running back DJ Williams has officially entered the transfer portal. Originally a transfer from Auburn, DJ Williams was seen as a potential upgrade at the power back position when La'Damian Webb left FSU two years ago. The guys often talked about Williams' potential if he could stay healthy and had strong expectations for him. However, Max and Drake are not concerned by the early end to his FSU career. They believe that this is a positive indicator for the running back room. The duo posits that other running backs Treshaun Ward, Lawrence Toafili, and Trey Benson playing better than expected could be the catalyst for DJ's decision to enter the transfer portal. As always, thank you for the love and support. We get to do what we love because you keep coming back. We appreciate you and hope to see you next week for more Locked On Seminoles!  Has FSU Coach Mike Norvell Done Enough?; Keeping QB Chris Parson, and Softball Coach Lonni Alameda | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2055

Max and Dave continue their conversation about whether Mike Norvell inherited a dumpster fire, and assuming he did, whether Norvell has done enough relative to other coaches nationally who took over their teams at the same time. Dave isn’t so sure Norvell truly inherited a dumpster fire; but Max and Dave agree that, while Norvell has corrected the culture and has things headed in a better direction, he's woefully underperformed nevertheless. Max and Dave also talk about the tricky QB recruiting situation and debate whether it would be better to shut down QB recruiting if it meant keeping Chris Parson, or to target multiple QBs and elevate the depth of the QB room. Finally, the guys discuss the rumor that Texas A&M is trying to poach FSU Softball Head Coach Lonni Alameda, and question whether FSU must do whatever necessary to hang onto Alameda, notwithstanding the athletic department’s renewed commitment to football.  Is D'Mitri Emmanuel a Game Changer for FSU Football? 2023 QBs Brock Glenn & Rickie Collins Offered | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1954

Alex Atkins has officially landed Charlotte offensive line transfer D'Mitri Emmanuel. Emmanuel is a highly-rated offensive guard that played for Atkins at Charlotte in 2019 before Atkins joined the Florida State staff under Mike Norvell. The guys break down how he fits in with other transfers Bless Harris, Kayden Lyles, and Dillan Gibbons, and what kind of impact having more depth at guard could mean for the development of youngsters Maurice Smith and Julian Armella. Next, the guys discuss Mike Norvell and QB coach Tony Tokarz offering two more QBs from the 2023 class in 3-star Brock Glenn and 4-star Rickie Collins. Glenn shined at a recent Elite 11 Regional earning an invite to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles. Last year, there was a controversy when 2023 Seminoles commit QB Chris Parsons seemed to make it clear he did not want the staff to recruit other quarterbacks in his class. However, the guys breakdown why he has probably changed his tune a bit. Thank you as always for the love and support.  "Best Case Scenario": Destyn Hill's impact for FSU & what Jordan Travis needs to do to take another leap for Florida State | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2008

What is more likely to happen? A Bigfoot sighting out there in the wild or Destyn Hill finally stepping foot on campus. The fellas answer that question today on your favorite daily Florida State Sports podcast.  Today, Dave and Drake discuss what they are hearing on Destyn Hill. The talented wide receiver out of Louisiana has been the talk of each recruiting class since the end of the 2021 cycle but the smoke and rumors are all pointing to him finally making his way to Tallahassee. What will he bring to this offense? How will he gel? Can he make an impact being nearly a year and a half removed from football? Then, the boys state what they believe would entail a best-case scenario for QB1 Jordan Travis under center for the 2022 college football season. Is it so much to ask for Jordan to pass around 2500 yards at the Power-5 level? Will he even have the weapons around him and the offensive line to help him attain that goal? What would a fully healthy season for JT13 look like for this team? What games can turn the tide of the season if Jordan Travis finally takes that step and supplements his elite running ability with a solid passing attack.  "Not A Big Enough Step": As FSU Heads into Year 3, where does Mike Norvell stack up with other 2020 CFB Head Coach Hires | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1960

Florida State Football wasn't the only college football program to hire a new head coach for the 2020 season. Now as we all head into year 3, the fellas here at Locked On Seminoles play a side-by-side comparison with the other coaches hired that year.  The coaching carousel was in full swing as the 2019 season concluded. While Mike Norvell was hired in early December, he was only the first domino to fall when it came to the new hires across the college football landscape. For starters, Lane Kiffin jetted off rom Boca Raton over to Oxford Mississippi to take over for former coach Matt Luke. High flying offense has followed Kiffin and has shown no signs of stopping. What about Sam Pittman at Arkansas? First big time head coaching job down there for the big man and all he has done has made the razorbacks the toughest out in the SEC West. And don't get Max, Dave & Drake started on Dave Aranda who took over a Baylor team that was mired in issues both on and off the field that festers not only the football team, but the entirety of the athletic department.  The job for the gang today is to pinpoint where are the differences between FSU's situation and those listed and the other coaches not mentioned, shout-out Mel Tucker & Mike Leach. Are there any differences? What is there being done to fix it? As always, we thank each and every one of you for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen each and every single day.  Making Sense of FSU Baseball; 4* QB transfers to ACC Opponent; 2022 Florida State Schedule Predictions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2153

Max and Dave talk FSU baseball as the regular season winds down. With one of the best pitching staffs in the country, is this a must-win year for FSU? What do the 'Noles need to do to ensure hosting a regional and make us feel good about our chances entering the postseason. Dave worries that, with this 1-2 punch in the rotation, a failure to make Super Regionals would be a borderline fireable offense; Max wonders whether the coaches get the credit when the going is good, but don't get enough blame when times get tough. What do you think of this year's baseball team and its chances of finally bringing home that elusive CWS title? Max and Dave also talk about the transfer of blue-chip QB Taisun Phommachanh from one ACC opponent (Clemson) to another (Georgia Tech), how it might affect the 'Noles game against Tech, and whether this was another miss by the staff in bringing in a backup QB. Finally, the guys bring you the May 2022 edition of schedule breakdown. (**Spoiler alert** – they're more optimistic than before).  "The Wright Time": Would Tim Brewster be Another “Safe Hire” or a Big Win for FSU Football? Winston Wright, JR. Update | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2840

Tim Brewster, the former tight ends coach under Jimbo Fisher and the recruiter credited with bringing big names like Dalvin Cook and Marvin Wilson to FSU, hinted that he might be headed back to Tallahassee. The rumor mill has been spinning with talk that Brewster, who most recently coached and Florida under Dan Mullen, may replace Kenyatta Watson, Sr. as Director of High School Relations.  Max and Drake discuss their differing opinions on this potential hire. Drake rightly points to Brewster’s resume as a recruiter. However, Max is worried that the same guy that lit up the trail for the Noles from 2013-2017 might not be who you get with this hire. What do you all think about Tim Brewster coming back in front office role? Additionally, Drake gives an update on Winston Wright, JR’s reported recovery. Finally, the guys talk some baseball and dive a bit into where Florida State’s special teams stand.  AS always, thanks for making Locked on Seminoles your first listen each and every day.  "Humble Pie": FSU Football Star Bryan McFadden talks NFL, Florida State's Media Perception & Transition to Media | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2414

There's a very select few who can truly call themselves alumni of Florida State Football. There are even fewer who can say they added to the legacy and mystique of DBU. Today, we are joined by none other than former FSU great and current CBS Sports Analyst Bryant McFadden here on Locked On Seminoles today for you the fans. Bryant McFadden played at Florida State from 2001-2004 before embarking on a multi-year career in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals winning two Super Bowls during his 7-year career. Post-NFL, he now is an analyst and sports personality for CBS Sports where you can find him on CBS Sports HQ and also on his podcast "All Things Covered" with former NFL CB Patrick Peterson.  On Today's show, Bryant discusses what it was like leaving South Florida as the #8 recruit in the nation to go to Florida State. In the same breath, he explains why he made the decision to spurn the University of Coral Gables hometown Hurricanes as he grew up right in there backyard. He then talks about what is the Media's perception of FSU, where he sees the program now and wraps up today's show with a little personal Q&A when it comes to former teammates and a little good old fashioned hate for the 2 other Big 3 Florida schools.  As always, we here at Locked On Seminoles want to thank you for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen each and every single day.  "Pac-12 After Dark": Would Florida Sate Leave the ACC, FSU's Permanent Pod Opponents & Scholarship Limits & Transfer Help | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1809

Florida Sate fans have long clamored to see what would an exit from the Atlantic Coast Conference would mean for FSU. Well, the Double Ds of Dave & Drake here at Locked On Seminoles are here to give you what their thoughts are on the topic and more.  First up, the fellas discuss their thoughts on divisionless football. Earlier this week Max & Drake gave their thoughts on the effects of divisionless football and how it would've impacted seasons past and also the implications. Now Dave enters the chat and we go a little more micro on the show. Who would each of our two hosts today keep as the permanent opponents? Does Clemson make the cut for both our hosts troday? Why keeping UM in there is so important? Who out of the rest of the AC is the 3rd? Next, the boys discuss a fun little hypothetical. Seeing as the Big Ten and the SEC are inking new TV deals and the revenues of each that are leaking showcase around $100 million, we play the fun hypothetical of moving FSU to a different conference. So we asked each other; 1. What conference would you WANT to see Florida State football compete in; and 2. What conference do you think Mike Norvell and company need to go to in orde to be successful? Does the Pac-12 get some love? Is the big bad SEC as surefire of an answer as we want it to be and Is the Big 12 even a thing anymore?  To wrap up today's show, the gang talks another NCAA potential ruling. The NCAA is toying around with the idea of not only increasing the incoming amount of kids for each class but eliminating the yearly scholarship cap overall. What does increasing form 25 to 32 do for teams like FSU? Do the rich simply get richer? Will this lead to eventually removal of these limits.  As always, thanks for making locked on Seminoles your first listen each and every single day and with all that we hope you enjoy the show.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
