The NCAA finally is showing its teeth it appears when it comes to establishing some order in today's Wild, Wild West of modern College Football. There are a lot of question marks around Mike Norvell's Florida State Seminoles heading into the 2022 season. The NCAA is set to vote on a rule that would allow conferences to use methods other than divisions to decide which teams play in the conference championship game. This means that conferences would be free to design a format where the best two teams meet in the conference championship. The Big 12 is in favor of this model and the Big 10 has already expressed a desire to move to a "division-less model." Max and Drake pose the question: what would this mean for FSU if the ACC got rid of the two-division system. This segues into a discussion of whether other conferences would benefit from this and how this will play out as there is a push to expand the playoff. Next, after one of Max's greatest dad jokes of all time, the guys look at Florida State's schedule for 2022. The LSU Tigers sent ten players to the NFL this past weekend, the Bayou Bengals have lost 31 players to the draft since their 2019 championship, and they are in head coach Brian Kelly's inaugural season. Considering all of that, should the Seminoles be considered an underdog when Florida State takes on LSU in New Orleans this fall? One of the nation's top receivers, Pitt Panthers' Jordan Addison, is rumored to be heading to USC for a massive payday. The portal giveth and the portal taketh away. Florida State Football suffered another major letdown on the recruiting trail when five-star offensive tackle transfer Amarius Mims decided to stay at Georgia following a hastily concluded official visit to FSU. Should this be viewed as another loss for Mike Norvell and his staff or should this be chalked up to them being victims of circumstances beyond their control? Regardless, it isn't all negative. Max and Drake talk through how the act of getting Mims on campus could be seen as a signal that the people around the Seminoles program are willing and able to step up to the NIL plate when needed. Could this have a positive residual effect with other big-time recruits? Next, the guys get more theoretical in discussing the place of FSU football in the national landscape.
