Was Florida State Football's 2013 National Championship Worth the Recent Struggles? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 646

Would FSU fans trade their BCS National Championship in 2013 for a decade without a title but more sustained success similar to Notre Dame? Max and Dave have that painful conversation on today's Locked On Seminoles Short. The two feel that there is a legitimate discussion to be had around if the one title was worth the recent losing seasons. Ultimately, the two know that nothing can replace watching the Noles hoist the crystal ball in Pasadena on that cool January night. However, its still a fun thought experiment.  "Boosters Beware": NCAA Going after Boosters, Should FSU Collectives Worry & Is UM Football a target for Sanctions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2453

The NCAA finally is showing its teeth it appears when it comes to establishing some order in today's Wild, Wild West of modern College Football. The fellas here at Locked ON Seminoles have a little something top say about all that in todays episode of your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles sports podcast.  The dynamic duo of Drake and Max look over the new guidelines that were dropped today by the NMCAA committee regarding NIL and the collectives around. The two hold a people's court and discuss how each of them feels in the matter. Should Florida State fans be worried that these rules and the limitations placed on NIL collectives will hold them further behind the 8-ball of the larger and more funded schools? Should boosters affiliated with these Collectives worry about their relationship putting these schools at risk? Later on, the two ask themselves also how this affects the loudest players in the NIL space. Do our friends down in the University of Coral Gables have an issue due to their most prominent, and loudest, booster being at the forefront of possibly why these new rules were drawn up? Is the NCAA finally showing a backbone it hasn't had in sometime? Will this actually cool things down or simply push it back to under the table as it was before and why did it take them so long to make these rules? To end off an a better note, the fellas wrap up by highlighting the improved play of the FSU Baseball team being led by their elite starting pitching staff. What do they make of this team who can hang with the best but struggle with the bottom feeders of college baseball? Can we start hitting and why it is so important to do the basics like just getting on base.  As always, thank you all so much for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen each and every single day and with that being said on with the show.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Can Florida State Run its Way to a Win Over LSU? Ranking FSU's Position Groups, Should Johnny Wilson Change Positions? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2036

There are a lot of question marks around Mike Norvell's Florida State Seminoles heading into the 2022 season. Today, Max tries to answer some of the most pressing of those in another edition of Mandatory Mailbag Monday. First he discusses which position groups we are likely to see leave college early on a less frequent basis with free agents being guaranteed only a signing bonus and NIL being a factor. Then, Max ranks our position groups on both offense and defense. He talks about his concerns at wide receiver and his confidence in the interior defensive line and defensive secondary. Next, Max talks the issue du jour of if FSU will land another offensive line transfer before discussing the possibility that wide receiver Johnny Wilson could change positions and play tight end. Finally, Max talks about what he wants to see less of in Mike Norvell's offense next year as the team improves. Thank you, as always, for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen.  Would Florida State Football Benefit if the ACC Eliminates Divisions? Will UF's Schedule Help FSU? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1990

The NCAA is set to vote on a rule that would allow conferences to use methods other than divisions to decide which teams play in the conference championship game. This means that conferences would be free to design a format where the best two teams meet in the conference championship. The Big 12 is in favor of this model and the Big 10 has already expressed a desire to move to a "division-less model." Max and Drake pose the question: what would this mean for FSU if the ACC got rid of the two-division system. This segues into a discussion of whether other conferences would benefit from this and how this will play out as there is a push to expand the playoff. Next, after one of Max's greatest dad jokes of all time, the guys look at Florida State's schedule for 2022. They group the games by sure things, coin flips, and discuss which games about which they are feeling the most uneasy. As always, thank you for the love (mostly) and support.  Should FSU Football Beat LSU in 2022? Will Sending Five Transfers to NFL Help Mike Norvell Recruit? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1841

The LSU Tigers sent ten players to the NFL this past weekend, the Bayou Bengals have lost 31 players to the draft since their 2019 championship, and they are in head coach Brian Kelly's inaugural season. Considering all of that, should the Seminoles be considered an underdog when Florida State takes on LSU in New Orleans this fall? Max and Dave ponder the question and come to the conclusion that the Noles should have a great chance to come back to Tallahassee with a victory. Further, what does a win over LSU mean for the national perception of the program? Will the casual fan care that LSU is in a slump or will FSU get automatic street cred for beating the Tigers? Next, Max and Dave look at the group of players FSU sent to the NFL this past weekend. They are disappointed by only having one player drafted. However, they do acknowledge that all five players were transfers and discuss if this should increase Mike Norvell's ability to recruit high-caliber transfer talent. Thank you, as always for your support.  The Transfer Portal, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Won't Kill College Football. Will Draft Results Hurt FSU Football Recruiting? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2257

One of the nation's top receivers, Pitt Panthers' Jordan Addison, is rumored to be heading to USC for a massive payday. Many fans and commentators, including the Florida State faithful, are starting to worry that NIL might spell the end of college football as we know it. Max and Drake do not agree. However, the current NIL landscape is far from perfect. The guys discuss why the courting of Jordan Addison feels different than other transfer activity to date. They then discuss if the solution is more regulation or if the market will self-correct. Max also poses the question of how fair this system is to smaller schools and if more should be done to protect parity. However, the guys ultimately conclude that there is work to be done but college football will not die at the hands of NIL and the transfer portal. Next, Max and Drake discuss Florida State's lackluster draft day showing. Will this make things more difficult for Mike Norvell and Co on the recruiting trail? or is this simply a meaningless data point? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

"Just Win": Florida State Football Needs to Win. Mike Norvell's Bad Roster Luck, Jordan Travis in 2023, & Deion Sanders? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2483

Has head coach Mike Norvell had bad luck or mismanaged talent development at Florida State? Would a bad season be worth it if it meant a new coach? Could that coach be Deion Sanders? Will Jordan Travis still be QB1 in 2023? All of these questions can be answered with a single question. If FSU gets back to winning, does it really matter? Max and Drake open up the mailbag today and answer questions from last week. They discuss the season ahead and who to blame for the seasons now behind. Ultimately, the come to the same conclusion. They want the Florida State Seminoles to win on the football field regardless of who is at the helm and how is under center. Well, the boys here at Locked On Seminoles are here to talk all that and more on today's episode. Drake gives his thoughts on what really went down between Krikorian and the administration and also what he hopes to see out of the support of the team from a University standpoint.  Next, the fellas give Head Coach Mike Norvell a break and discuss the highlights of the graduating Noles that are hoping to hear their names called in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. Jermaine Johnson II has shot up leaderboards since he erupted onto the national scene with his performance against Notre Dame. Could he push for a top 5 slot? is he the #1 DE in this Draft? Can Alex Atkins take the reigns over if and when Norvell's tenure comes to an end? Well, these are the questions the fellas here at Locked On Seminoles, your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles ports podcast, aim to tackle today.  "Can, Should, Will": FSU Transfer Portal Strikes Again, Expectations for Florida State Football and Seminole Standards | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2164

The transfer portal giveth and the transfer portal taketh away as Florida State loses another player to the transfer portal and the fellas here at Locked ON Seminoles, your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles sports podcast are here to break it all down.  Today, we are joined by Max & Drake as they send you off into the weekend on this lovely Friday. 2020 4-Star safety, converted to linebacker, Jadarius Green-McKnight has entered the transfer portal. the gang discuses what his departure means for the program and now with him joining Corey Wren and Hunter Washington in the portal are there, and if so how many, any more departures form the football program that are on the horizon.  Next, the boys pick up from their conversation of yesterday. With this being Mike Norvell's third season as the head man in charge, we ask if we as a fanbase are lowering expectation on Norvell based on the achievements of season's past. Does this fanbase need a wake-up call to remind them what we should expect every single year? Is the standard still the standard or simply are we losing focus on wat the standard in Tallahassee really is for this football program.  Lastly, Max wants to play a fun little exercise in the vein of the mirror game. He asks Drake, and listeners feel free to chime in down at the comments below, what would be the surprising factor that lands this team at the 9 win mark and what stifles them onto the 6-win mark. IS it Quarterback progression? IS it asking the Defense to shoulder the load again? Listen in to find out!  As always, we like to thank each and every single one of you for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen each and every single day and we hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Is FSU a Has-Been or a Sleeping Giant? What Does the Amarius Mims Situation Say About FSU's Status? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2763

Florida State Football suffered another major letdown on the recruiting trail when five-star offensive tackle transfer Amarius Mims decided to stay at Georgia following a hastily concluded official visit to FSU. Should this be viewed as another loss for Mike Norvell and his staff or should this be chalked up to them being victims of circumstances beyond their control? Regardless, it isn't all negative. Max and Drake talk through how the act of getting Mims on campus could be seen as a signal that the people around the Seminoles program are willing and able to step up to the NIL plate when needed. Could this have a positive residual effect with other big-time recruits? Next, the guys get more theoretical in discussing the place of FSU football in the national landscape. Is Florida State viewed as a USC in that they are viewed as being one or two moves away from being back on top? Has too much time passed and the outside factors become too challenging to the point that FSU is seen as a Nebraska destined to never return to its former glory? If you had a blank check book and could hire anyone how long do you think it would take to get FSU back to top 5 finishes and national championships? Learn more about your ad choices.  "Stealing Some Wins": How FSU Can Upset LSU, Clemson in 2022, Football's Greatest Rivalry Renewed at Miami & AJ Duffy Hype | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2413

Florida State Football has been on the wrong side of winnable games the past few seasons. Now, is 2022 the seasons that the college football program can have some upsets of their own. Join the gang today on Locked On Seminoles, your favorite Florida State Seminoles podcast to see where the guys land on these questions. Drake and Dave are running the show today and lead it off with which games they view on the schedule as some "stole wins". Why does Drake feel that Norvell and company can march up into Louisville and stun Heisman sleeper Malik Cunningham under the Friday Night Lights. Does Dave view Tyler Van Dyke is an actual threat to the ACC or will he suffer a sophomore slump when the Hard Rock hosts the biggest rivalry in colleges sports? Most importantly, are potentially ranked squads LSU and Clemson going to drop their first game to Florida State in so many seasons? Next, unfortunately Dave, the conductor of today's experiment, has to take us to games that are potentially traps for Jordan Travis over the season. Does a healthy Phil Jurkovec give the fanbase pause for concern when the Boston College Eagles come to town? Even though they have lost some weapons, Dave Doreen and the NC State Wolfpack may pose a greater threat than ever with Devin Leary, Cory Durden and Cyrus Fagan returning. And lastly, out of Syracuse, Georgia Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette, is another inexcusable loss on the horizon for this Seminoles squad?  To wrap up today's show, Drake has the floor and decides to let the people know what has been troubling him. With the QB room under a microscope over the past few seasons & the lack of transfer QB coming into the fold, is there truly a scenario where AJ Duffy is starting at any point during the season, regardless of Jordan Travis' status. Is this solely based on the potential of the 4-star freshman, or is it simply a case study in what Norvell has shown in the past when managing his QB room.  As always, thanks for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen each and every day.  Can Florida State Lead the ACC in Rushing in 2022? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2138

Florida State is set to have a potent rushing attack again in 2022. However, will it be enough to lead the confernce with Syracuse and Louisville returning great rushers and UNC looking to reload after leading the conference in 2021? Only time will tell but Max and Drake open the mailbag and give you their opinion on the question in a miniature Max's Math Corner. Next, the duo pivots from the Jimmies and Joes to look at the X's and O's of Mike Norvell's offense. Will this offense need to rely on gadgets and gimmicks in 2022 or will FSU fans start to see a more fundamentally sound offense? Finally, the guys talk defense. They realize that most of the talk in the offseason revolves around the offense despite that only being half of the equation. So, they examine how much improvement - if any - is needed from the defense and if fans should expect to see a better unit on Saturdays in the fall. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
