Craniosacral Therapy: Healing with heart for babies, for life | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1671

Sally speaks with Chris Teale, Craniosacral therapist (and physiotherapist) about the osteopathic therapy known as craniosacral therapy (CST), how it works physically, and how it also takes into account a person's emotional state. CST does not involve hard manipulations of bone structures, it focuses on the fluid structures in the spinal column and surrounding the brain, as well as the positioning of the cranial plates. Patients report an extreme relaxation response to this treatment, but it can lead to emotional releases that result in physical realignment and healing. We can benefit from CST at any age, as our cranial plates never fuse, but babies and pregnant and birthing parents in particular can benefit in many was such as turning breech babies and babies with colic and reflux. We also hear from Kimberley Lipschus about her extensive experience with using CST for many issues, such as fertility, pregnancy discomfort and positioning of the foetus for birth, as well as post birth recovery and even ADHD.NOTE: Anatomical training (such as physiotherapy) is not mandatory for therapists to call themselves Craniosacral therapists. One way to find a craniosacral therapist with anatomical training is to visit the Upledger Institute of Australia. CST differs to the chiropractic technique of Craniopathy.Copyright 2018PBB Media, Sally CusackPresenter and producer: Sally CusackGuests: Chris Teale, http://www.christealephysiotherapy.com/, andKimberley Lipschus, kimberleylipschus.comFirst aired on 99.9 BayFM Byron Bay on 12 February 2018.Image credit: http://www.christealephysiotherapy.com/

Male Privilege: The Impact on Raising Children | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1671

From birth, many boys are taught that to be a man you have to be competitive and emotionally tough and that vulnerability is a women's domain. How we socialise our children around privilege and entitlement impacts our society tremendously. Even in the most emotionally resourced families, boys and girls often see gender inequality constantly feeding into their subconscious through media, movies and books. This is the basis for what is referred to as male privilege. In this episode, we explore what it mean to be raising children in this culture. Sean Tonnet speaks with Luke Addinsall: therapist, consultant, facilitator and specialist in Mens Issues, whose work with men and families is changing our view on Masculinity and fathering.List of references (eg book titles/websites mentioned) 1.  Birth stories: Reading between the lines with Hannah Dahlen | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1671

Many women do not receive appropriate care when in labour, making birth more difficult and painful. They then rarely get the opportunity afterwards to debrief with their carer about the events. This can lead to misunderstandings that they can pass onto pregnant women, in turn making them frightened and more likely to experience a difficult birth. Prof. Hannah Dahlen interprets some birth stories to help dispel some common myths on birth.
