Episode 271: The Steven Universe: Future sneak peek | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:40

GC13, Isabelle, and David discuss the sneak peek for Steven Universe: Future. The story behind the sneak peek’s release is almost as interesting as the content itself, with its early release and the copyright claiming spree that was launched in an attempt to halt its spread. It was officially released just two days after its leak. We don’t know much about what’s going to happen in Steven Universe: Future, just that plenty is going to. This episode is also available on YouTube.

Episode 270: Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:00

GC13 and David discuss the first episode of season four of Rick and Morty: Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat. Edge of Tomorty brought out some serious Akira references and was a nice start to a long-awaited season, but there are some nagging feelings that perhaps certain things were included in the episode to poke fun at fans of the show… At least it had some good jokes (and a very uncomfortable forty seconds…). Of course by the time this goes live the next episode has already aired, so we wait until next week! This episode is also available on YouTube.

 Episode 269: Chocolate Money Badgers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:11

GC13 and David discuss the third episode of Summer Camp Island, Chocolate Money Badgers. (Yes, despite the episode’s focus on badges it’s “badgers”, not “badges”.) It’s still early in the series and Susie is still doing the work of establishing herself as the mean witch. Despite all of that though, Summer Camp Island is as kind a show as ever. There are also some musical nods to Charlie Brown, including the sounds adult yetis make when they speak (more on that in Saxophone Come Home). This episode is also available on YouTube.

Episode 268: HBO Max and Cartoon Network | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:22

GC13 and David discuss what HBO Max could mean for Cartoon Network. Two shows produced by Cartoon Network Studios have been announced to be exclusive to HBO Max, and we know that the continuation (of a sort) of Adventure Time will be exclusive as well. What we don’t know is how many more exclusives will follow, and if any of them will be shows currently airing on the network. Also, it would be nice if “exclusive” meant “streaming exclusive”, not “you can’t buy this anywhere else”, but again: we don’t know. This episode is also available on YouTube.

Episode 267: The Adventure Time: Distant Lands announcement | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:01

GC13 and David discuss the announcement of Adventure Time: Distant Lands. Adventure Time will get a continuation of sorts, with four hour-long specials appearing on the upcoming HBO Max streaming service under the title “Adventure Time: Distant Lands”. Two episodes, “BMO” and “Obsidian” (the Bubbline episode) will be available in 2020 and two more, “Wizard City” (the Peppermint Butler episode) and “Together Again” will be available some time after. This episode is also available on YouTube.

 Episode 266: Old theories #1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:09

GC13 and David discuss two theories from earlier days in the fandom: that Lion was actually Rose, and that Pearls were Homeworld’s original techies. They are definitely theories from another time, but while Pearls have been decisively proven not to be techies there are still doubts lingering in their air about Lion, since the show has made a pretty clear implication about his past without explicitly saying anything. If you’re curious, you can read the Rose Quartz = Lion Tumblr post made by Your Fossa here. This episode can also be watched on YouTube.

 Episode 265: Monster Babies | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:29

GC13 and David discuss the second episode of Summer Camp Island, Monster Babies. If you were expecting to have any episodes where Oscar was getting to know the camp then as Susie might say you were sorely mistaken. Still, that puts us right into the swing of things with Oscar being friends with some sophisticated monsters. The used to say “Boo!” Now they say “Goo!” Monster babies: Cuter than you. This episode is also available on YouTube.

Episode 264: The Steven Universe: Future intro | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:53

GC13 and David discuss the intro for Steven Universe: Future. Twenty seconds of glimpses into the future. It’s also a glimpse at the end of the series—yes, once this season (or season-length series?) is over it will by all accounts be the end of Steven Universe. What we’re seeing is enticing though. It’s a whole new era, and it’s time to find some more loose ends to tie up! This episode is also available on YouTube.

 Episode 263: The First Day | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:26

GC13 and David discuss the first episode of Summer Camp Island, The First Day. For a character who begins the episode riding in a car without his seatbelt on, then quickly climbs on top of the roof, Oscar has some problems with anxiety. It’s okay, that just means he has more room to grow. It’s a good setup for the rest of the series though, showing you the characters you’ll come to know and making it clear that the series will be about staying at summer camp, not about wanting to leave it. This episode of the podcast is also available to listen to on YouTube.

 Episode 262: The end of OK K.O. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:46

GC13 and David discuss the finale of OK K.O.: Let’s Be Heroes!: Dendy’s Video Channel, Let’s Fight to the End, and Thank You For Watching the Show. It needs to be said again and again, but OK KO ended before its time. Even one more season of the same length, or making season three a more normal length compared to the rest of the show, would have done wonders. What’s next for Ian Jones-Quartey? Cartoons take a long time to get off the ground, after all. This episode is also available on YouTube.

Episode 261: What could come next? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:15

GC13 and David discuss what could come next in the Steven Universe franchise after the end of season five and the movie. Little Homeworld is hopefully going to become a very important location, but could Steven become a guest character in his own franchise? Never mind all of the character development we’ve either missed or haven’t seen utilized. Does the show have room for another adversary, or will there be a return to the episodic adventures of season one? You can also listen to this episode on YouTube.

Episode 260: Steven Universe: The Movie | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:40

GC13, Isabelle, Sophia, and David discuss Steven Universe: The Movie. It finally happened. There’s a movie for the series, and of course it’s a musical (shake a leg for Mr. Greg why don’t you?). What was your favorite song? We like basically every single one. Even if there are lots of questions to ask about the injector (and Onion), it was still a great movie. Watch it if you haven’t—if for no other reason, you’ll be very excited about who gets to sing. You can also watch this episode of the podcast on YouTube.

 Episode 259: Movie hype | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 8:48

GC13 discusses some last-minute hype for the movie, as well as a couple of half-read spoilers. What did Rolling Stone accidentally spill about the movie? You’ll find out here. Probably. Assuming GC13 heard right. What about TV Guide? What did they spoil? A small thing, really, but a spoiler’s a spoiler. Also, be excited: the movie will probably bring the highest ratings Cartoon Network is capable of in its current state.

Episode 258: The movie track list | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:10

GC13 and David discuss the track list (complete with singers) for the upcoming Steven Universe: The Movie. So there’s a lot you can try to figure out from knowing the song titles, their singers, and where they are in the movie. Oh so much. What’s your tolerance for spoilers? The spoiler level for this episode is very high. Do you want some top-grade spoilers to whet your appetite for the movie? Look up the name of Ted Leo’s character in the movie. Top-grade spoilers. You’ve been warned. This episode is also available on YouTube.

 Episode 257: The movie villain's name | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 10:45

GC13 brings out the serious (we guess?) spoilers. The movie villain’s name has been leaked by Cartoon Network, so it’s time to speculate about what it could mean for Bendy’s role in the movie. It should go without saying that this is a pretty spoiler-heavy podcast episode, though since at the moment all we have is a name it’s hard to know what knowing the villain’s name means (if it means anything at all). Still, it’s always fun to have something to speculate on. This episode of the podcast is also available for listening on YouTube.
