We're going back in time people! I've never enjoyed talking about the issue of race, specifically mine. My heritage is what some may call "confusing" and sometimes when I try and learn about it, even I get more confused, especially when it comes to the Puerto Rican side of the family. Scott talks to Brian McGlinchey about the realities of America’s economic sanctions, which many believe are a more humane alternative to outright war. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. McGlinchey reminds us that in essence, sanctions mean denying basic goods to a country’s civilians in the hope that their government will give in to our demands. This isn’t substantially different from terrorism, which by definition involves acts of violence against civilians for political purposes. Even the supposed exceptions for things like humanitarian aid often don’t pan out in reality, since these days sanctions are largely enforced through America’s influence over the global financial system, which makes it hard to exercise that level of fine-tuning. The result is that children go hungry, hospitals can’t get basic medicine and families are ruined financially, all for an abstract political goal that has nothing to do with the people affected by the sanctions. Back in 2019, three friends named Sid, Rudy, and Andy wanted to build a company to empower creators. They spent much of that year talking to every creator they knew about their challenges and needs, and uncovering patterns among them all. Online creators earn a living by monetizing their products, talents, and content. The Justice League has long been DC’s premier superhero team, but it wasn’t always a team full of DC’s best and brightest. By the mid-1990’s, the Justice League and been largely reduced to a string of B and C-list heroes. But in 1997 DC Comics looked to change all of that by bringing in legendary writer Grant Morrison to revitalize and relaunch the Justice League in the form of the new “JLA” ongoing series along with artist Howard Porter. As the world anticipates the release of the #SnyderCut, Marc and Remso look back upon the first story in this run, as the JLA faces a mysterious group of “heroes” who have come to “fix” the Earth. But of course…not all is as it seems with this new group, and it takes DC’s top best and brightest heroes to figure it all out! Move over C-listers…the real JLA has arrived!

Matt Kibbe sits down with Marc Clair, host of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, to talk about their common medium of podcasting and how it’s transforming the way that people get their information. Kibbe recalls how traditional media forced you to compress your message into a 15-second sound bite and focused on scoring points off an opponent rather than listening and learning. Podcasts, on the other hand, prioritize long-form conversations that give people the space to think out loud and explore ideas without the need to be combative or overly simplistic, and that can only be a good thing for our culture.
