Conor Kilpatrick and Ron Richards are joined by surprise special guest Josh Flanagan to talk about the third 13-hour original series from the partnership of Netflix and Marvel Studios–Luke Cage!

Sometimes you get together to talk about the week in comic books. And sometimes you listen as Conor Kilpatrick loses his once sharp mental faculties live on the show. Also on this episode, Medusa’s unique shower problems, the merits of the pastrami sandwiches from Katz’s, and a cameo appearance from Ron Richard’s dog! Thanks to iFanboy patrons, it’s Talksplode time. When we read Prez, we were impressed, and when, shockingly, The Flintstones series was discovered to be one of the best and smartest new comics from DC, we had to find out who this Mark Russell was. So we asked him. Working with cartoonist Shannon Wheeler, Russell released God Is Disappointed in You, and Apochrypha Now from Top Shelf, as well as various other freelance writing, he then found himself with an opportunity to write Prez for DC Comics. We talk with him about that, and bringing that same sensibility to the licensed property of The Flintstones.

The deluge of comic books in October continues, but Josh is able to find a diamond in the rough in the form of a special Star Wars corner edition of the Pick of the Week. Also, it’s important to mention that the music for this podcast is listed in show notes, which you are reading right now.

It’s the march of the endless #1 issues! Just when you think you’re done, there are more #1′s around the corner. Sometimes, we thought we had read all the #1′s, but there were even more left unread. Sit back for a whole lot of talk about a whole lot of great comics, and the debut of White Falcon.

We’re live! In person, at least! Conor Kilpatrick, Josh Flanagan, and Ron Richards got together in Los Angeles this week to record the show live together and that hasn’t happened in who knows how long. While apologies must be given for the lower level of quality of this week’s audio, the guys had tons of fun being in the same room together.

Plus floppy boots and memories of early 1980s King Arthur movies. Doesn’t get much better than that, does it? Conor thinks it does, and he thinks Aquaman is better than all that. But we know better, don’t we?

After last week’s email bacchanal, we’re back to the grind on a so called light 5th week. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a whole of excellent comics to get right to. Also, we find out, at long last, Ron’s incredible hidden talent, and take a trip down Josh’s memory lane. Also, the KISS song, and the emailer named Ace is a complete coincidence.
